Ever heard of the military angular compression seals that uses a mechanical spring compressed double-triple rotary seal-to-rotary seal? The (1) stationary seal is in physical contact with the (2) non-stationary revolving seal and in between them is an (3) angular seal being spring pressed against both (1) and (2) and are made out of a compound of sapphire and graphite. Others uses graphite and nylon and some uses graphite and silicone rubber. In really tough situations it is a double-bearing or triple-bearing set up with two angular compression seals going outwards with the double-bearing or triple-bearing set up between the two angular compression seals going outwards. And the space between them is filled with 60% medical grade castor oil and 35% bars leaks and 5% molybdenum disulfide. Castor oil has this tendency to form a kind of lacquer varnish on all metal parts whether they are moving or stationary. This design was developed for nuclear power plants during the 1950s when nuclear power was still in it's embryonic stage. Then came precision engineered and precision machined cross hatch machined sapphire against precision engineered and precision machined cross hatch machined sapphire seals, the same principle of seals-to-seals compression spring secured revolving mechanical seals for various military uses.
