Have you noticed nobody else is talking about it. Denial

Odd, rest of PNW is about 10° F lower. The climate just has it out for that one sliver of valley where Portland metro sits. So unfair!

Great job about explaining how climate change is affecting us here in Oregon. We don't expect you to have solutions; that's not your job.

You raise a question and then present no real evidence that indicates an answer. It was in the upper 60s/lower 70s today in North Texas in July. Go figure.

@@markpaul1383even if predictions are off it doesn’t change the fact that temps ARE rising year to year and that we are now seeing blatant affects on weather.

@@Timorias If it is getting warmer, (no simple or small thing to be able to measure the temperature of Earth over a sufficient enough period to really have a sense of it), it could still be a part of what Earth has always done, continues to do, and will continue to do. In the meantime, we'll make strides toward being able to produce cleaner energy.

@@markpaul1383 In terms of very recent times, it has been getting hotter. We have been consistently and accurately keeping track since 1850. At least up to that point, whether or not it’s getting hotter is a forgone conclusion. In case of Earth’s entire history, from what records we have, such a rapid increase in such a short amount of time has NEVER happened. It usually takes at least 1000 years for these changes in the fastest of cases. To even entertain that stance you would have to dismiss the enormous amount of evidence pointing to humans being the cause. Then you would have to assume we either somehow missed such a blatantly sharp increase in the past or concede that this just so happens to be the first time Earth has ever heated in this way. You would also have to acknowledge the stark lack of evidence supporting it just being some natural cycle. All other cycles have reasonable explanations/theories attached to them (earth’s tilt, earth’s orbital fluctuations, a new species, meteor, volcanic events, etc.) This current warming has basically no natural explanation besides “there’s some nebulous reason we just don’t understand yet”. I could use the same logic to argue that it’s just magic.

OK, first I don't have any family or friends nearby Kale Boy! Secondly the coast or a blues festival are not the best places to be, the cascades are. More specifically the high cascades. Do like i'm doing on sundary and find an easy hike to a mountain lake at or above 4,000ft. Higher elevation lakes mean more snowmelt and colder, more refreshing water.

Yes, let's all give up our jobs and take off weeks to go to the mountains, foolproof plan right there.

Not many news/weather channels are talking about the effects of climate change on our weather….. I get it….. the likely effects are scary…… Really Scary! And most folks are grasping at straws trying to find reasons for the current heat wave….reasons that don’t mention climate change, that is. Thanks, KGW, for having the courage to speak scientific truth about heat waves.

The climate is always changing. Always has and most likely will continue to do so. Right now, it's July and warm, by October or so it'll cool off and then rain. It's like that song by Joni Mitchell, The Circle Game...and the seasons they go round and round, etc....

Not really hysteria, 70's to 80 are nice, but temps over 100 is rough on everyone. I try to go the higher elevations of the cascades when it is this hot, mountain lakes with snowmelt and subalpine ridges with sweeping views are both nice on a hot day.
