How COD Black Ops Shows the Grim Realities of War | Betrayal, Uncertainty & Losing Close Buddies 

The US Gov issued ammo that ran poorly with the rifles at the start of Nam. However they were lighter, easier to control, and the rifles stock didn't swell up in the hot humid jungle like the M14 did, which would affect zero.

Damn that's interesting, I never thought this was common in the Vietnam war.

How frustrating that would be when you are face to face with your enemy and suddenly your rifle jam and next moment you are dead or wounded.

So it has more to do with Ammo, I thought the M16 design that were used in Vietnam war had flaws.

@@willysillyplays they were told it was “self cleaning” which wasn’t true so the soldiers didn’t maintain them as well as they should have.

Yes no other COD comes closer to WAW when it comes to showing the brutal side of war, I wish they could remaster this game or just start a sequel but I don't think games like WAW will even be allowed in many countries.

Yes it has a lot of violent stuff, I wouldn't have played it as a kid but I was a teenager when this game came out.

No doubt about that bud, but WaW will always be my first pick when it comes to portraying the horrors and destruction of war. Cod BO1 has a lot of that too but in some missions, WAW is like a blood bath from start to the end especially the eastern front.

Hey bud, yes that is very interesting I saw Mason in that last cut scene with JFK and I was like hell this detail is actually insane. Never knew Mason actually said Oswald Compromised. Damn BO1 story is top notch the more you understand it the more it gets disturbing.

@@willysillyplays If you replay the revelations mission he also mentions the same bullet and the date as well, and in the final mission when he says "you tried to make me kill my own president" Dragovitch mocks him saying "tried?"

Thanks bud, I never thought there was so much about JFK's death in black ops and never thought Mason talked about it in a few instances, BO1 cut scenes are so fast moving and voices have low pitch that's why I sometimes miss the lines, but thanks guys for what I have missed.

Hey Bud, some of mysteries of BO1 are really hard to crack, but you are right I think he was interrogated because he was suspected as a second shooter in killing JFK, still not sure I need to replay it to be 100% sure lol.

no doubt about that bud lol but remember BO1 is based upon Cold War while WaW is based upon WW2 Eastern Front, Eastern Front was an absolute bloodbath, COD WaW did true justice to that violent nature of Eastern Front.

Dimitri was a very different character compared to reznov, he was friends, close friends with him of course. But there’s different varients of dimitri, in WAW you can play with him as a more merciful soldier (which i believe is canon) where he doesn’t kill soldiers that are weak or wounded (in the mission their country their blood) Or when they’re surrendering you only have the choice to: A let them burn the surrendering soldiers alive, B shoot them so its more instant. Or C burn them yourself Its more of a “test” in a way to see how the player feels about the german side, do they think they deserve the worst and least amount of mercy possible, or do you think they don’t deserve it? There are many soldiers in the war that were irredeemable monsters. But the ones often forgotten about were those that wouldn’t stoop themselves so low, (depending what side your discussing about) Im my opinion i don’t think Dimitri was a bad person DEPENDING on what path you chose, Dimitri’s AI in BO1 however does kill surrendering soldiers, which throws a wrench into everything prior. This could be a oversight, or intentional, which we wont ever know sadly, so you can take that as canon too. Which is why it’s difficult to determine if he was good or bad but i think the devs wanted you to choose the better side in WAW (considering its even noted ingame) and in BO1 they didn’t give him a unique AI coding, either due to limitations or forgetfulness/time constraints. He definitely didn’t deserve to die like that in my opinion. It should of been a quicker death. Reznov on the other hand, is FUELLED by rage, revenge and likely propaganda, even in hus first appearance the first like paragraph he says is about revenge in the long run. To avenge his fallen friends and allies, He counter-brainwashed mason to GET revenge against those who wronged him and probably his only close friend he had left. And then threw him in jail as a traitor. He never wanted to spare any german in WAW, (which is a somewhat realistic thing about WW2 Russia, there was alot of bloodshed from their once mutual allies on their citizens and families) and germany also had a bad reputation usually about sparing Russian soldiers, which they then both fuel the other side onto despising each-other. Reznov is supposed to represent a soldier that has no mercy due to experience with the enemy, propaganda and losing close ones, even his dad was killed which would’ve added to this even more, he probably had no one left, except Dimitri. Speaking of which Dimitri was (im my opinion) supposed to represent a soldier with more mercy than others, he still probably saw them as living people and made killing them quick or atleast showed some form of mercy. TL:DR reznov hates his enemies due to trauma/experiences/Propaganda, while dimitri shows more mercy, while also hating the enemy. (Not related but people back then genuinely excused flamethrowers because they thought it was more moral than shooting people)

I think Reznov has his own reason for being brutal He has seen enough in the battle of Stalingrad (even better explained by Krejii05), how his people suffered at the hands of German War Machine, I liked Chernov more as he was a soldier and merciful sometimes but that poor guy didn't make it and died at the Reichstag.

@@willysillyplays chernovs death was pretty sad because he was the one that was the most merciful, yet had one of the most painful deaths out of the 3.
