Sorry for the old reply and I'm not in any way an expert on the subject, but from the little I know, the 0s and 1s don't mixed up, meaning, it's not the bits that get mixed up, but maybe the bytes (the combination of 8 bits that compose a byte). So the combination that composes, for example the letter A (the 8 bits of 0s and 1s) doesn't get broken down. But maybe the 16 bytes that compose 2 characters, for example AB, will be split and take the available space on disk so the byte that composes A will be in one place and then the byte that composes B will be somewhere else. And somehow, the computer knows where to find all the bytes that create a group of bytes in order to create a file. I guess that's how it works?

Yeah mate, completely agree, lol. The most recent thing I realised is that a bit when it comes to bits and bytes is now an electron stored in a charge trap. And as you mentioned bits & bytes is now measured as the flow of voltage etc. Or think of an actual piece of information we can actually understand eg a sentence eg ‘I am 26’ . In a computer this would in 56 bits which is actually organised electrons. Not 1s and 0s.

@@kahustone7347 The problem stems from something that is much more deeper and it looks like this: There are basically two types of people in this world. One is the hands on type of folks. And the other is the intellectual classroom type of folks. The two live in different universes so to speak. Majority of human beings belong in the first type. The hands on type. These vast catagory learn by actually seeing and doing. Once that happens then they use words/language to describe it. Of course using language to describe whatever it is, is a rough road and a whole different beast to say the least. The other type, the intellectual, the abstraction folks learn abstractions and then they supposedly apply it to reality. Why I said supposedly? It is because there are different level of abstractions. Different level of folks that learn abstractions. Say for instance, there are those people, the so called professors than can teach the principle of operation of whatever the hell it is. And in the real world they won't even know what to do on the very thing they so elogantly teach. You sit in a classroom, say they teach you how an induction motor works. They draw all them diagrams and so on. But wait for iiiiitttt..... One fine day you happen to look at a real actual motor sitting on some table. That son of a bitch does not even remotely look like what you saw on that classroom board. You wonder what the fuck were they talking about..... Even if you use an electron microscope and you look at a circuitory of a computer down to each infinitely small printed circuits you will not find any bits, bytes, logic high or low. You will not find anything. You will not find information, memory, data and especially you will not find any 0 or 1. When I told a computer expert ( that is right) a real microsoft expert who worked for microsoft that a transistor is a dead device that holds nothing, contains nothing in the same way that a light swtich in your house contains nothing. That it really is just a mechical device and that is it. The guy called me a thousand and one names. How full of shit I was. I explained to him that a switch does not contain electricity or energy, information or whatever he wants to call it. He didn't even know where to start. It is the price of learning abstraction. Question: What is that thing that is called information? What is that thing that is called memory? What is that thing that holds it, contains it, so called memory cell? In a computer that is. Lets put it this way. Either one actually knows it or one doesn't. And I mean it is irresepctive of language confusion. [ Explain ROM vs RAM, BIOS. In other words explain the difference between so called permanent program/information vs Temporary program/information. I mean explaining it by means of actual electronics real science of physics language]

In the meantime, the people that will closely resemble reality and speak real dog gone language you will find it by learning physics. The physics of electricity and electronics if you will. First you have to understand what is implied by the word "information", "memory", "data" , shit like that. Then you have to see what the so call device, gadget or whatever that contains/ holds it as is referred to "memory cell". Look: A battery in your car is a container, a box or whatever you want to call it. This container/box/device contains something. What is it that it is contianing/storing? And I do not mean, that it contains acid/water mixture....
