This entire extended talk is excellent. Easy to understand for a novice, but without glossing over the specifics. Thank you.

At last, an explanation why it needs power. Other videos spent 5 minutes saying it just needs power or it doesn't work. I didn't know if there was a tiny pre-amp built into them etc. !

Where does that center screw or terminal screw into? I mean the diafram is very thin so what is behind that diafram where the center screw goes into?? It can't be the backplate coz that would A create a short and B it would be a rigid connection stopping the diafram from vibrating.

There is a non-conductive core in the center of the backplate.
