Connor Bedard’s shot broke away from the competition when he was 13. This is a story about passion and the merits of practicing with only one hand on the stick.
Working on ur left hand with 1 hand on the stick at 12 yrs old for 12w being a dominant lower-right handed player is gunna give this kid a better release than Ovechkin mark my words. Maybe not a better goal scorer but hes gunna have the greatest shot ever over his career. Amazing determination
@@polarisltd-1197 hes gunna have the best shot/release in NHL history. Like I said maybe not as good a goal scorer as Ovechkin but its gunna be dominant hes already 17 scoring goals ive nevr seen before. Imagine him when hes 24-27 just beginning his prime
@SP You're right about everything here. ovi is consistent and durable: Matthews is not. Bedard will be better than matthews as long as he's durable. Matthews isn't even in the same conversation as Ovechkin and Crosby by a long shot. He's overhyped due to being on the Leafs. Shot wise, you are definitely right, very comparable to Matthews but more deceptive than matthews with his shot due to his head being up like mcdavids. It's rare to see deceptive shooters in World juniors. That's a gift....
Ovechkin is 6’3 230 lbs. he uses his weight off his hip, to thrust the puck forward, bringing the insane velocity. 60% of a player shot is stored off their hip in that transfer of energy. I played for 22 years. That’s the first thing I never got perfect in mechanics because shooting off the hip with that much weight, makes a player lose balance on the shot, until they master it. I never did.
It's going to be exciting to see him in the pro's next season. The playoffs this year have been the best I've ever seen. The quality of the kids these days is off the meter for us old schoolers. Really fun to watch.
i was saying the same. even before the season started i was already anticipating the intensity of this year's playoffs. And it was above expectations. Im a 80's kid and I too can recognize the level it got to. The show presented on the ice is just fantastic!!
@@unfazedevan3268 there is a photo of rod gilbert from the early 1970s and his wooden stick is flexing tremendously although not quite like they flex today rod gilbert had one of the best shots from the mid 1960s to the mid 1970s
@@jagcovers9456 Not really. There are always people hyping up top draft picks, and a few overdid it with Lafreniere. But there was no consensus that he was a generational talent. There hasn't been a clear-cut, no questions asked, consensus number one like Bedard since McDavid. I'm a Rangers fan, and I was hoping they'd pick Stutzle. There was even discussion about whether Kakko might go number one over Hughes. Laine with Matthews, etc..This is the deepest draft in a long time and there's absolutely no doubt as to who is going first. This kid is the Next One.
He has the best wrist shot I have ever seen. I have watched Orr, Bobby Hull Gordy Howe Guy and 99.I have followed hockey for 60 years and never seen this talent before.
I agree about the wrist shot, but I've seen overall talent like him before. Gretzky was dominating 10 year olds when he was 6. Mario put up numbers in juniors that were absolutely mind-boggling. Nobody ever saw a kid skate like McDavid before. Bedard is the Next One for sure, but there have been others before him just as mesmerizing.
@@byronleemarley9610 Absolutely, No one will ever again dominate his league like Wayne did! And Mario's done things on the ice that no one has! They're safe..😎
The part where the neighbours were talking about him and he apologized for making noises should tell you about who this kid is as a person. He’s gonna make a great leader in whatever organizations lucky enough to draft him.
based on the sticks i’ve seen him use he uses either mid or low kick sticks. he used an ft5 pro which is a mid kick for u18s and then for wjc he used the agent which is a low kick
Seems more like just a worse version of what Edmonton is (especially since Horvat will be gone), which I guess is kind of already what the Canucks are like anyway... lots of offense, no defense. Goaltending a bit better but Demko, for all everyone likes him, has never even finished in the top-15 in save percentage in a season. Don't get me wrong, the Canucks would be elated to have him, and he'd probably be happy to go there being a BC kid... but... they are far more than another high-end offensive player away from being any good.
@@baiqi44 Myers expires the same year as Petterson, paying him wont be a problem, however convincing him to resign long term may be more of an issue if things continue the way the have been for the Canucks
@@CozyToad But that way of thinking is exactly why most GMs fail at cap management. You also have to save cap space just in case of something unpredictable (like Kuzmenko this season). There's no cap space to sign Kuzmenko to what he's worth. Even if we didn't sign Miller and could afford to sign Horvat, we still wouldn't have the cap space to sign Kuzmenko. You never really want to max out your cap. You always want some wiggle room. Also, EP's going to be a RFA and not a UFA like Horvat is. It's much easier to sign a RFA than it is to sign a pending UFA.
Little bit too much hype on this but he definitely has that Mathew’s type release. I just think the NHL after seeing overall viewership drop 20% they need another superstar / Conner Mcdavid type player to help sell the sport. No doubt he’s and amazing hockey player but I think it will take a few seasons before he’s really a player that controls the game at his size
@@mr.brenman2132 I just see better overall natural talent in Beddard over McDavid - but obviously I'm splitting hairs at this point. It's like comparing Gretzky to Lemeiux.
Interesting that someone with CBJ and CHI for their profile pic is saying future Duck or Shark when CHI/CBJ are 1st and 2nd best odds and the Ducks have the 3rd best odds and Sharks have the 6th best odds (factoring in that the Habs get their own odds plus Florida's). Don't get me wrong, I'm a massive Sharks fan so I really hope the future Shark part is correct, I'm just losing hope when we keep beating getting points against the teams ahead of us in the race for Bedard.
