One half of the fandom: background characters The other half: extras Intellectuals: knowing that background characters is the translation of what was said in the original dub while the English dub used extras. So we’re all correct
the think i like about Bakugo is that he's personality isnt just "im angry and i scream all the time". There's depth to it. He just protects himself like a cactus protects their soft core.
imo i dont think hes soft or anything. Hes rash and has a bad temper, but unlike most characters he's not muscle headed, hes smart, thinks ahead, cleans, does his work on time. Hes better than deku in almost everything. Hes not the stereotypical bad boy nor does he have a soft side hidden underneath. He respects his opponents, doesnt underestimate them, and has admirable character development. And thats why hes my fav anime character
Can't deny, Bakugo is the most entertaining character in MHA. Most of his lines are gold tier. He steals the scene whenever he's around. It helps that he doesn't have way too many scenes, so we don't get bored of him.
Same with the villains, he mentioned with Stain that villains are supposed to be scary and you aren't supposed to like them, but look what happened with Dabi and Toga xD
@@yooman6339 I'm not denying that he's popular. He very much is. I'm just saying it's arguable that he's "everything he wants to be in the fandom"... Since..... A lot of stuff the fandom does he probably wouldn't approve of... 😶
This guy won seven times in a row in Japan as number 1. And he's number 1 three times in a row in US. There's no stopping this train of love for Bakugo.
Bakugo: *Yells all the time, will blow you up if you look at him the wrong way, was designed to be unlikeable The entire fandom; Jokes on you I'm into that sh*t
Eh, most main characters don't have that much personality because they are meant to be a vessel for the viewer/reader to put themselves into, so it makes sense. I'm adding this part 2 months later: Even if the character is not a self-insert protagonist they often have to have less personality and be relatable because we view the world from them
@@gammaphoenix5893, yeah I agree but Deku not getting top is expected, look at the most popular shonen and you will see that the main character is often not the most popular, but If I were to pick which one I like better of the two it would be Deku, not because I think he is a good character but because I hate Bakugou, in the manga/show I like Endeavor the most of any of em.
@@MaxMax-zc4or Look. All I am saying is being good is more of a choice them being an asshole is. Neither being too god and nor too bad. Bakugou is on the top bad side of the meter. He is just an asshole for the sake of being an asshole. He is just like an overglorified Sasuke.
This happened in every single fandom I am in. Jhonen Vazquez: this is a narcissistic psychopathic genocidal maniac. He is a literal intergalactic war criminal and would gladly kill the deuteragonist with no regrets. Me and the whole fandom: UWU TRAUMATIZED BBY ALIEN BOI ADORABLE GREEN GREMLIN MAN STAN HIM
@@gammaphoenix5893 yes almost everyone had amazing character development in the recent arcs. I only mentioned bakugo cos everyone (including the person who made the comment) we're talking about bakugo.
The most fitting rival character I've seen in a long time. His personality and methods contrast the protagonist's so well. It really shows how there is definitely more than one valid way and more than one valid reason to become the best hero. People are just mad because they wish they could be as based as best boy
@@kamijounotouma5596 And that's perfectly understandable. I think the real, real problem is that Kacchan's bullying is realistic, which makes it hurt more. But MHA uses a lot of pointed realism to make fantasy stories more emotional. Because most shounen rivals are bullies/hard-asses/anti-villains Gary Oak/Blue, Vegeta, Envy, Seto Kaiba, Sasuke Uchiha, all of Ichigo's rivals: Byakuya, Kenpachi, and Grimmjow... Fans love Hiei, Levi, and Catra... And if the rival isn't a hot-head, it's because the main character is and the contrasting character is the sweetheart: Eren and Armin, Kira and L, Lelouch and Suzaku. But Bakugo is a perfectionist with paranoia, anger, and attachment issues and he lashes out at everyone. That's 10x more realistic than... Assassin princes and billionaire teenagers.
Bakugou is just so entertaining, almost every second he’s on screen is enjoyable. And he’s super hot. And he has great character development. And when he has those rare serious moments they hit so much harder bc they rarely happen.
So? bakugou should be the main character because he has depression and more- seems like nobody gets it. ill have to add more to this. Bakubear has been fighting his whole life trying not to loose he got his PDST in middle school. he got his depression after allmight had the fight allmight vs all of one/bakugou getting kidnapped. he has been trying to win every fight he has been threw but wait? he has won every fight hes been threw so why? why is he still jealous and sad? its because he knows that deku has a quirk now and its more powerful and if he doesn't get number 1 his work would go to waste. his mom blamed him most of the time. "IF YOU HADN'T BEEN SO GODDAMN WEAK YOU WOULD HAVE NEVEE CAUSED ALL THAT TROUBLE!" its a show of some kind of abuse.
Most people: “Imagine being the main character and not winning the popularity poll.” Me: “Imagine being the main character and dropping to third place.”
"Imagine being the main character yet coming 5th place" - Denji (chainsaw man) "Imagine losing to your own car in a popularity poll" - kobeni (chainsaw man) "BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEP" - Kobeni's Car (chainsaw man)
Bakugo: *was designed to be the angry dislikable main character!s rival* Most of the fandom: Lol no Bakusimps: Hahahaha joke’s on you we’re into that shit
*FUN FACT* : With this year's votes, Bakugo is actually the 4th most popular character in shonen Jump placing under Gohan, Goku and Trunks. In other words, Bakugo is the most popular character in *modern* Shonen Jump. He is truly number 1.
LMAO the way I just pictured it 😂😂 I feel like Todoroki would be the one the agency originally planned as visual, but Bakugou became the one the fans CHOSE 😂
@Dontrell Walton HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Izuku already moved forward from that and you're still weeping from that issue HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
@Dontrell Walton i know iknow maybe let's just wait maybe they'll talk about it in future. I'm sorry did i sound I'm picking up fight? Peace if I an then✌️
@@heayah2307 SPOILER They literally do talk about it in the future. One of the manga chapters is all about Bakugo feeling like garbage for bullying Deku all those years ago
That’s something I find really interesting about his character. He hates everyone so what’s his motive for being a hero? Well, to be number one and for the money as he said in the first episode. It’s been a while since I watched the series, so I forgot when they mentioned this, but wasn’t Bakugo put under a lot of pressure because of how powerful his quirk was? Like everyone around him had such high expectations of him so they over praised him when he was little, giving him the superiority complex as he got older. It makes me wonder if his goal to be a hero is as shallow as we think or maybe he’s so determined cuz of the pressures he received during childhood. But I guess that’s meant to be up in the air.
I'm confused, I stopped after season one. Has bakugo ever apologized for telling Deku to kill himself and for the many years of bullying? I don't see why people like this dude.
I heard he actually initially made Bakugo condescending and saying stuff like "This was easy. Oh you couldn't do it? I'm sure you'll figure it out eventually *snicker*" but the concept pissed Horikoshi off so much that he remade him as a spiky ball of rage
Ya but his character development, he’s actually smart and has reasons for calling u a shithead and (probably not Midoriya tho) not a straight up dick he’s just complicated. But he is rude asf (at the beginning) Also he’s hot asf.
@@garrettcooper8348 I don't think that's it (though it COULD be a factor) because loads of main characters are hot in MHA If anything I think todoroki has more of a reputation for that
Bakugo is just such a relatable character who we love watching get his character development. Midoriya over there collecting quirks and Todoroki is steadily getting his family back. Also, Horikoshi has proven that this is reverse psychology at its finest. Bakugo was supposed to be the most unlikeable, but look at this! He’s No.1 in popularity
Fsr everyone who pretends to hate bakugo just wants to be different, or is stuck in s1, episode 1 where he was still just a jerk and nothing more. Like bestie y’all can hate on him and try to act special for it but polls have spoken🤷♂️and so has the author himself lmao
I’m pretty sure the only reason he didn’t get first the first time was because everyone still gave a damn about him calling out a death threat and beating up helpless children. Not that I do, I mean, he’s kinda redeemed himself enough by now.
Horikoshi said he regrets having bakugo tell deku to kill himself because it was too far. I think he's just disappointed that he couldn't get a clean sweep.
Ah yes. Death Note. An absolute masterpiece. Its so different from a classic anime. The protagonist is the villain. Yet they never outright tell the viewer this. Therefore, its up to us to decide what point Light became the villain. So immersive.
There's something about Bakugou. He's determined and won't let anyone or anything keep him from moving. He also has a great character development and isn't your usual I-got-defeated-by-the-mc-now-im-super-nice type of rival. I think overall he's just awesome and very admirable even though he's an asshole
i've always had soft-hearted, kind and elegent characters as my favourites (comfort characters i guess?)... ALWAYS until i met him lol...fr tho idek how he's my favourite when there's characters like midorya and todoroki in the same fucking anime...that's how powerful bakugo is.
I never like main characters-like MOSTLY They are my least favourite because of how their personality never has any development (mostly). I always end up liking that one cocky character who likes to be in top or just doesn’t care because when they lose to the main character you can imagine how all their life they did everything they could to be top but then this random person comes in and swooshes their dreams- and that random person is someone from their past- (this is a reference from two animes)
Dang! The crazy thing is it’s not even a close competition. The very first popularity poll is the only one where Bakugo isn’t #1. Every single poll afterwards in Japan and the US Bakugo is consistently 1st place by a lot. There’s always at least around 1,000 votes separating him and 2nd place.
Were is the growth the only reason he stopped trying to KILL midoriya is because he has a quirk now if he didnt have one bakugou would still beat the shit out of midoriya constantly.
