Please remember NOT to sweep the floor after installing the drywall on the ceiling. Having a fine layer of dust on the floor makes cleaning up all the mud globs that you will be dropping a lot easier. 🙂
I hope you will insulate the garage ceiling to help keep the apartment warmer and use a plastic vapor barrier so fumes from cars don't go up into the apartment
Julie, it might help to use Coconut oil on your hands. Very healing. It's available in the grocery store (or WM)where the oils are. Get the jar of solid coconut oil, about $4. You can use it straight out of the jar or, as I do, put some in a small bowl and whip it until it's like softened ice cream. I use my electric mixer and then add some vitamin E and a few drops of Lavender oil. Great for hands and feet (even your face). Bag balm is also great but doesn't smell as good.

I love the look of texture on our ceiling sheetrock. I do it by putting crumpled newspaper in a toilet plunger end, cover with grocery bag, tie or tape tight... dunk in texture and plop it on, knock it off with a long putty knife. That probably doesn't make sense. Anyway, I stare at this ceiling a lot.... and I like it. Wait... Are you even texturing???
Don’t know if it has been mentioned already, but doggos instinctively do a “puppy bow” which they all understand as an invitation to play. I’m pretty sure that Tux sees you all doing push-ups as a bunch of puppy bows, and is answering your invite. Good boy, Tux!
Big Congrat.s to Seth! Great video and luving the humour! To ease moving the drywall sheets, try this: Take 3 small rectangles of 2x4. Join to form a "U". Make it Wide enough to handle 2, 3 or 4 sheets, as you need. Drill 2 holes and attach a rope to the top of each upward leg, long enough to go over your shoulder while standing and provide enough ground clearance. Make two of these, 1 for the person in front and another for the person in the rear. Bingo - now your hands are free to hold railings or open doors. Sheetrock/plywood carriers are easy to build. Mine is an old T style shovel handle with a bent piece of rugged metal bolted to it. Cut the old handle off to the length you want.
two ideas for sanding the joints after you mud them. Use a semi damp sponge - no dust but dont want it too wet. then go to home depot and by a vacuum attachment - they make these to attach to a shop vac and they use screens rather than sand paper. I did this on my drywalling and it worked out perfectly and vey little dust.
Really Jealous of your local RU-vid gathering.....community is priceless. Wish we had more of that around us, It seems the harder I try to find like minded individuals the harder they hide. Hi guys and gals, Just a quick note on drywalling. Use your T square to cut straight lines, and all you have to do is just score the paper you don't have to cut so deep and snap. doing a great job keep it up....
Not sure anyone mentioned this yet but mudding above your head is not fun. I found that getting the mud to the proper consistency was the trick ( it may sound counter intuitive but I thinned premixed ). The other key thing is to just do lots of thin layers and resist the temptation to glop it on in hopes of covering bad seams. You guys have always shown lots of patience so I’m sure you’ll figure it out. Good Luck and the place is looking great.
Use bag balm.on those hands. Tip wash hands in warm water. Put bag balm on. Put rubber gloves on, then work gloves over them. Work for 2 / 3 hrs. Hands will feel much better. Post office worker tip for you.
I am so impressed with Julie doing her pushups. High five Jules. Martin sounds like a drill instructor counting out the pushup numbers. I like that you have followers helping you with the drywall lift. Did you know the lift wheel has a handle (it was hiding in the box) and the wheel can be moved? Pretty cool. Have you looked at other stores for the sheetrock carriers? My Lowe's carries several different ones. Would think Home Depot would be willing to order it shipped to you. Regular hardware stores might have them, too.
Even down here in the south, where we almost never get freezing weather, we build tiny little houses over our pump head to protect them from freezing. I am pretty shocked that y'all don't have some kind of cover over your well head.
Look up pitless adapters. The pump is likely way down in the well, and a pitless adapter is attached to the well casing below the frost line. Which is where you hook up your water line and frost free hydrants.
I think it's funny how you operate your thermostat. I operated my thermostat like that for about a month while I got a new thermostat for the rental I lived in.
Morning guys. The water tank is mostly above ground is that a building requirement as we put ours below ground ( not that we have freezing problems lol) and it fills automatically. You have a pipe to the tank from the well head already underground? Another great video.
In the Uk we dont just mud the screws and joints we skim all the ceilings & walls and we dont sand them a good plasterer can fly through it some even use stilts strapped to their legs of course our house are alot smaller.

Ive been following y’all since you did the footings and I have a question, not sure if anyone else has asked, but why are y’all trying to finish the garage apartment instead of finishing the first part of the house? It makes more sense to complete the first part where you have a fireplace, functional kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms! Just wondering why you chose to go this route.
Julie, patch some of your finger tips with crazy glue, original formula. I worked as a nurse and since we had to wash our hands every 5 seconds bandaid were not an option. I still use gray glue because I have salt rheum and the curse of the cropleys. 😄👍👍👍👍👍🌲🌲🌲🌲
I have a suggestion for mudding. Jesse Muller has a video on "DustlessTaping" where there is no sanding required. I've never done it, but it is something I want to try. Hope that helps!
