I'm a townie who's enjoying learning about the parallel world you live in in our shared country. It's not fair this fantastic video has fewer than a dozen comments, i hope mine helps nudge the algorithm.

I had a great year in 2023 when the weather was dry for us so I took the majority of profits and put in field tile for long overdue drainage last fall across the farm. After a very wet spring ‘24, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have anything out there without the tile. Wet weather is really rough when it happens.

In Australia, mouldboard ploughing has been falling out of favour as it exposes the soil biome to strong UV which kills it. Where it's possible, were usind no or minimal till wherever possible (depends on your soil type, terrain and seed)

Any combi drills that your New Holland could handle. A 2.5m disc with same width a trailed direct drill behind it although it would be cumbersome.

A three point turn? ... man if I did that my farther or uncle would appear literally out of the either, hands on hips shaking their heads in disappointment... The tear drop turn at the headland is the only acceptable turn for them... But seriously operating in the wet is awful, when I was still a teenager, I bottomed out a tractor whilst rolling in wet ground (even though my father spent a time thinking the field was far too wet - then decided it was fine) He was not happy to fix that. Though Its interesting that my family rolls before drilling and not after ( so plough, harrow, roll then drill). My dad and uncle love new tech in concept, but tend to find its not often worth it, particularly for smaller family farms. The gear is too heavy, too expensive, require more maintenance etc. It often doesnt make sense economically or even productively.

P.s. Im loving the videos, very well presented and one of the best presentations of agriculture issues. I'm happy to give long winded comments as its as prayers to the algorithm. You have a natural ease of presentation, hell you could end up presenting Countryfile in no time! ;P
