I have been a fan of Daido Moriyama's photography for many many years. He is near the top of the list for me. Moriyama takes "street" to an entirely different level. A most fascinating artist.

Completely agree. His way of producing street photos really represents a feeling that I think is missing from a lot of street photography work.

You have given us a great review here especially spending time on some of his projects, very enlightening - what an intense man! AND what a life! Thank you.

Another great video, keep them coming. I just finished reading his ‘How I take photographs’ book and was amazed by his ability to shoot without constraints and yet to think so deeply about his work.

Thank you. I finished it for this video and felt similarly. If you were only shown one random photo of his you wouldn’t immediately think there was a lot of thought behind it, but some of his projects are incredibly far ahead of the game in terms of how deeply thought out they go.

I saw David Lynch talking about switching to digital. He chuckled after listing all the reasons film was obsolete. It was refreshing and funny. (Link in the reply if links are allowed. Apologies if this is a film-centric channel)

You should check out his peer Nobuyoshi Araki, think you might find his work interesting as well his has a documentary movie called Arakimentari
@developingtank

Araki is great. I own one of his books and had planned on doing a similar video covering his work, but too much of it is NSFW (NSFYT?). I will check out this documentary. Hadn’t heard of that before. Thanks for the recommendation.

I wonder if he underexposed and used high contrast to make images….2 stops perhaps…
@developingtank
@developingtank 4 месяца назад
I’m curious about this as well
@davidventura1424
@davidventura1424 4 месяца назад
@@developingtank I’ve underexposed sometimes more than I wanted scanned image cranked the contrast and had similar grainy result!!! If I printed in darkroom I’d most likely use a 5 filter… might be good experiment.

I think he mentioned he did not follow any development guidelines. He just put the chemicals in and pulled the film out whenever he thought it was about time.
@developingtank

If that’s true it really takes his process to another level.
