How dangerous is Marseille, France?

Marseille is one of the most dangerous cities in Europe, but what does that mean for someone traveling to South of France to Marseille? In this travel vlog, I question how dangerous Marseille is as I explore the food, culture and beautiful beaches. As France's oldest city, Marseille has been described as gritty, but when you walk the streets of Marseille you can feel all the various cultural influences that have contributed to the culture of Marseille and France in general.

North African / African population's mass presence in France started in the last 20th century. Whilst French imperialist presence in North Africa started already in the 19th century. (**Ottoman Empire doesn't have much to do with that, as its European regions were in southeastern balkan europe). Plus, Marseille has great impact of other non-french communities and immigrants from throughout history (beyond the more recent North African/African influence), like Greeks, Italians, Spaniards, Jews, Armenians, Lebanese, Corsicans etc. In sum, making Marseille a truely mediterranean city 👍

I just came back from Marseille 2 days ago & I speak French even though it’s kinda of broken but everyone was super friendly to me I was out until 4 am… I made friends with some Francophones & I was walking around and cycling whilst wearing my jewellery no one seemed phased …. It can’t be any worse than some areas of London in my opinion. I would speak French more at night to blend in and not stand out. I can tell it’s a lovely city that has two sides. Nothing that a bit of street smarts can’t take care of. I would love to visit again it’s definitely got some rough edges but it has style for sure 👌🏾🇫🇷

Marseille is a city bustling with anxiety. After visiting so many cities across Europe, I have never experienced such impatient citizens. Everybody seemed to be in a rush in this city which is famous for probably nothing except for garlic- and saffron-flavoured fish stew called bouillabaisse. A city which predominantly is the second largest city and the oldest city in France and also boasts a port has nothing to offer to its tourists except cat calls, union strikes, poor uber facilities, lack of civic sense and very poor infrastructural facilities. When I planned to visit this city in-spite of so many mixed reviews, I always thought that this city will have something to offer to its visitors, but alas my worst nightmare has come true. As I gasp for some freshness in this city, I am only welcomed by a nagging sense of insecurity and fear of harm. This city, in a nutshell, is not at all tourist-friendly and a city to be left alone on its own. The local residents are happy among their own as they show no intention to welcome dreamy-eyed traveler who wants to explore the hidden beauty of Marseille.

Good video, but there is one thing. American always assume that „white people“ in general aren‘t cooking flavoured food. Perhaps it‘s true for some anglo-Saxons in industrialiased USA and in ober urbanised western european cities. But it‘s certainly not true for Europe. We are good cooks, and the good cuisine in southern france isn‘t just reductable to norther african influence. Southern europeans are meditereneans to. Secondly, french or italian cheese is extremly flavoured, something the middle-east doesn‘t have also.
