It should have ended with Dexter killing the brain surgeon in the mental hospital kill room, Deb living and getting her career and sanity back and Dexter, Hannah and Harrison starting over in Argentina. Then from there could have brought on more seasons from Argentina if Showtime wanted more cash. Another large city with low solve rate for Dexter to do his work and some fun seasons to be had.

God, I just hope they don’t make Dexter Harrison’s dark passenger. It’d be such a cop out for having him on screen again. I’m game for the focus of the show splitting further toward Harrison, but if they’re gonna bring Dex back, bring him back for real. Let the threat of the world discovering he’s the Bay Harbor Butcher finally come to a head. Better yet, have Batista be the one that comes after him.

Why are we so certain everyone would immediately assume Dexter is the BHB? Sure that's what Angela *suspects* but she doesn't have any solid evidence of that. There isn't even solid evidence that Dexter killed Kurt or killed Matt, all she has is a nail which proves nothing. The only thing Dexter is 100% on the hook for currently is the murder of Logan. I can see him getting put on trial for that, but it somehow getting dismissed via a technicality, or perhaps a sympathetic juror.

I’ve never been a fan of the whole “it was all a dream” trope but if any time for it was appropriate….this would be it.

Dexter will be in jail and people will be cheering for him as a hero, asking for him to be put out of jail, his son will likely be hunting and the FBI will recruit Dexter in some Hannibal letter style

Dexter fans are a unique bunch, and the showrunners need to recognize the strong desire for a satisfying conclusion to the character’s story. It's rare for a show grounded in reality to have a protagonist shot in the chest with a hunting rifle in the woods and for fans to not only accept his survival but actually prefer it as the ending. There’s a huge audience ready to watch if they get it right this time. Overall, fans have been remarkably forgiving.

Although you say that the last scenario of him being recruited by the FBI is the worst one, it is actually the best one because it's the only one where he could continue to be "Dexter" without it seeming like a massive ass pull. Him somehow faking death and escaping would seem ridiculous at this point since he was put down in dramatic fashion right in front of Angela, who has no reason to allow him to get stitched up and escape. It was made quite clear that she wants him either locked up or dead. Also, him faking death and escaping would just be a rehash of the bad ending of the first version of the show. The idea of him going to trial and somehow getting off on a technicality for like dozens (if not hundreds) of murders would also seem totally nuts. If he is jailed and put on trial, he's not getting off on a technicality. There's no realistic universe in which he escapes a guilty verdict. So what we would have is at best a clip show of us recapping his prior exploits, or some kind of family drama show with his stepkids and Harrison dealing with him being in jail. That just wouldn't be a Dexter show. The only way it's a Dexter show is if he keeps feeding the dark passenger, which means he has to be out in the world with some amount of freedom. This could be accomplished with any kind of "Blacklist" type scenario, the most obvious being recruited by either the FBI or CIA to do some kind of dirty work and committing more of his dark passenger murders on the side. If his handlers are tasked with keeping him from doing that, then part of it would be him trying to evade their detection which puts a different spin on the formula from the first show.

There are only 2 people who know he's the BHB at this point, with 1 arriving late to the party and 1 trying to save his son. Everything is going to get turned on to Harrison. Wild party, drugs, hurting people publicly, blood on his shoe from killing Mr. Krabs. Blood will match both Dexter and son at the campsite. Murder on the day his son arrived. I'm so excited and can't wait!

I'm good with scenarios that dexter is on the run and possibly ends up arrested and gets off on a technicality. I don't want dexter killed off again or sent to prison for life. Call me crazy, but I want a world where dexter gets away. 😊

The idea of him helping the FBI is not as bad and crazy as you made it be.... I don't think he will get a badge or anything... But, it could be similar to a Hannibal; Lector in Silence of the Lambs type of thing... Whether in jail or not...

I said it at the end of new blood, a series about dexter being in prison and the crazy people he’d be surrounded by would be so sick. Plenty of dexter inner monologue and a plethora of dark characters and adversaries for dex to either kill or thwart in some other cool way

I AM one of the people who thinks the great ending for dexter would be him being recruited by the US. Government. Once its known how prolific he is and who he's taken down. Its hard for me to see how he wouldnt be viewed as having skills too valuable to be disposed of. Stealth, infiltration, detective skills, etc. Dude could carry out his passion, while still maintaining his code taking out threats for the feds.

It'll be Micheal C Hall as the main at the start of the season but in a fight club twist, Dexter is in Harrison's head all along til the end of the season.

Whatever happens, I want to see Dexter unleashed. He is found out, everyone knows, and he no longer has to pretend to be normal. What would a Dexter look like who is no longer burdened by trying to keep his mask on? A Dexter who is resolved and content with being alone and moving in the shadows. How would he operate without the resources of a police department? Would he stick to his code or just go rouge?

Both options are wrong. Remember this is called Dexter Resurrection . Everyone thinks he is dead. And that would be the premise . Everything you said is just recycled stuff. Dexter needs a fresh start

Id rather they go full dark and show the hunt from Bautistas POV - Dexter just abandons the code and is on a spree and with the POV being on the police for once it would build Dexter up to be terrifying. Examine his brutal killings and make people remember Dexter isn’t a hero he’s a murderous psycho.

Dexter gets locked up for life but shortly after a serial killer emerges and they come to him for help tracking the killer.

That second to last prediction would be how I would want this new series to go....Have this be a Law and Order type show, going over Dexters past and thought process, have Harrison becoming a New Dark Passagner as he starts to take out his own rouge gallery of serial killers and learning from his in-prisoned Father. It could bring tons of new ones on ones, give the fans nostalgiac feels for the 1st series and books, and give us more time to warm up to Harrison that N.B. didnt give us. Does Dexter die at the end, I honestly feel he should, I love M.C. Hall, but Dexter legacy is already cemented. I dont want it to become dull because they keep "resurrecting Dexter" instead of doing something fresh with the concept and world

Why are we so sure that Quinn will be against Dexter? I actually think it would make much more sense if after he recovers from the gunshot, Quinn somehow facilitates his escape from custody. Dexter killed Deb's murderer and Quinns response is "I wish I had done it myself". Not to mention Quinn kills that mobster to protect Nadia to let her go free and stages a fake crime scene. Quinn is just dirty enough and traumatized by Debs death enough, to think he owes her one last favor by helping her brother escapem especially when Quinn of all the cops seems to understand that working outside the law is okay for the right reasons. Either that or Dexter makes some kind of daring escape on his own. Or has help from Lumen or Trinitys son or some random person he inadvertently saved by one of his kills, or someone that takes him from custody to exact their own revenge. Hopefully its something this good. Not sure how theyd build several seasons around this though.

I had a weird Mandela effect with this finale. I remember the end differently. First, I don't remember Dexter killing the coach. Then the scene where Harrison points at Dexter he regrets shooting him and they drove off together. I even remember seeing them driving out of town with many Police checkpoints around. But I even remember them reaching the highway and as they drive by Batista is seen driving on the other side going to the town but didn't sees Dexter. Then the credits roll. How? Now I re-watch it and thought this was an alternate ending. By the way Dexter didn't wanted to kill the coach. You can hear him say don't think about it. So as the coach reaches his gun Dexter stops him by grabbing the hand. But as they struggle with the pressure of extending his hand he broke the coach neck. So I really hope the Dexter character is actually alive on the mew show. I was sure this finale was better than the original but it was way worse.

What we need and listen carefully because this is all they need to do to wrap this series up in one fucking very nice tidy bow One season new blood keep what we have, New season him solely on the run till he's captured at the end of that season, and one more season just based solely on the trial and the eventual end. Personally I find this to be the best book end of this amazing show and character. I hope others agree I really do but we will see

Not sure on this. Look at Kurt Caldwell's behaviour throughout New Blood. There's ample evidence to suggest he killed Matt, since he tried to get the investigation cancelled, then lied about him being in New York, and also lied about him staying in his secret room. Then when Dexter took Angela there, the room was destroyed. Kurt tried to kill Dexter by burning his house down. Angela then knows Kurt killed Iris and all the female runaways. Plus Kurt ransacked his safe and "disappeared". These little details may have been hinting at something. Perhaps Angela will blame it all on Kurt.

I can't see Quinn being relentless. Dexter saved his ass in the season 5 ending. WTH Quinn?

Going to be a long response, but lets go. To me, Dexter has always been a show of a man's struggle with light vs. Dark. In the main series, Dexter continues to be able to hover right on the brink of being known for who he truly is. Then we get to new blood where people figure out who he is and we see that you can't run from your past. Keep in mind, Dexter went into the hurricane not trying to survive, and in new blood has found a purpose in living through his son. I'd expect Dexter to continue to follow the code and try to guide his son in an eventual passing of the torch. Harry passed the torch to Dexter and was his guide, and now, he will pass the torch and become a guide to Harrison while showing to Harrison nothing truly stays hidden from sight. If Harrison is now the main character, I'd expect Dexter to be on trial facing his past while Harrison watches from the shadows, learning. I don't expect Dexter to survive whatever comes next and I'm almost certain he will sacrifice himself to give his son a chance to live a normal life.

Whatever the plot is, I really really hope they can bring one antagonist that will blow up the series : Jonah Mitchell. Trinity son is beyond fcuk up. He even killed his own mother. Oh if there's a FBI guy, let make him/her a former protege of Frank Lundy.

if they did do a trial for Dexter the question wouldn't be one of guilt(he is guilty), or whether his crimes were justified(ultimately they're not). It'd be about the way be was brainwashed by his father and that Doctor (whose name I keep forgetting) who literally trained him to be what he is, in order to deal with his dark urges. the question would be, to what degree he is responsible for his actions.

Somewhere along the line there should be a face to face confrontation with Dexter and Bautista whether it’s in court or with the hands with Dexter ending up taking out Bautista in a scuffle and getting flashbacks to all the innocents he’s taken out before.

I would love to see Dex on trial whether it be first season or the next and you could incorporate the idea of copycats given the large scale of the case and even have a couple scenes with the new cast outside in Miami metro trying to track down the newer bay harbor butcher as a b or even c plot. Just my opinion tho

I see the FBI leading this, and bringing Batista as a consultant, OR, Batista searching for Dexter separate from the FBI. But no Quinn, and no Miami Metro. And if it’s Harrison’s show, he only sees Dexter. Or, Dexter’s recruited by a gov’t black ops outfit to kill. 😅

I don’t get how people forget all the dead people in Dexter that communicate with him through out the show. It’s clear his kid will have the same problem, hearing his father just like Dexter had.

Oh noooo... This is how I find out that they are bringing Dexter back. Just let the character die with some dignity already. There is also a more than a fair chance that Dexter will not actually be alive during this. Which means calling the show "Dexter" would be a classic bait and switch, aka a flat out lie. It would be like calling the original show "Harry." And new blood "Deb."

Micheal Hall didn't even wanna come back for Resurrection but the last 2 seasons of the original series were complete trash and they threw a big bag of money his way. Resurrection was meant to fix that. Now they want him back again because of fans lol. It'll Just keep getting worse folks. Dexter was a masterpiece up to season 6. Should of left it at that.

I feel like I’m seriously going crazy because I’m one of the biggest Dexter fans on the planet but I absolutely hated new blood everything about it was dumb and corny to me. Why does Harrison even remember what happened to Rita? A doctor in the show already confirmed that wasn’t possible he was only months old. You know what should have traumatized him? Getting kidnapped at sword point when he was in kindergarten. There’s a bunch of stuff that just blatantly says “yeah fuck the old show and everything we wrote before” and now it feels like they are doing the exact same thing to new blood like wtf 😂

I can even see how the whole media circus thing could have inspired copycats who were inspired by him, thinking they're helping the police do their dirty work. I hope the writers explore that idea.
