Even with 1M subscribers, this channel in my opinion is still very underrated. We have animations here that most movies don’t even come close to reaching. Not to mention the great and detailed explanation of wars, despite as well as keeping it easy to understand and comprehend. In my opinion, this channel deserves 10M. You got to hand it, we have great animations, great descriptions, and great explanations. And all for almost no profit, only from sponsorships. (RU-vid doesn’t like this I’m pretty sure.) Something I read once in an article : When the Korean war started, the US had to quickly jump in and revert its civilian production to war-material production, leading to a shortage in civil goods, which then the only recently established West-German managed to fill in, leading to a quick economic boom in the early 50s, which was a great part of the 'Wirtschaftswunder'

Griff underestimates the strengths of the US economy. The US remained a net exporter of oil up until 49 (see brain4breakfast "Blood and Oil" for the importance of energy), this was something that none of its allies had. The manufacturing industry allowed unskilled labour social mobility, the same boom occured later when these jobs were moved to Japan and Taiwan (and now enjoyed in China) in all of these countries manufacturing jobs allowed for a golden age that is remembered until this day in much the same way as it is in the US. The US financial market recovered much earlier than the rest of the economy - allowing startups the access to seed capital, a good comparison is when during the space race Nasa could allow subcontractors live and die based on their merits the soviets found that they simply lacked the neccessary infrastructure in a lot of places (N1 used a lot of small engines instead of a few big ones for this reason) and had to make do with the few existing "engineering offices" they had, all the while the US could rely on contemporary Elon-Musks to ruin themselves financially and mentally for a chance to develop the economy(For a comparison of w/ financial market vs w/o please check AlternateHistoryHubs "Argentina" video)

One interesting aspect to this that I’d love to see you cover, was that of The British Empires reaction to the emergence of the U.S as a new western superpower. Apparently they weren’t too happy to just hand over the position of world leader to their war time ally. The British Empire was actually seen by some after the war as a third super power (including the Soviet Union) as it had been on the winning side of two world wars and was also at its greatest territorial extent, not to mention the history of the pax Britannica.

one thing he was wrong when he said the US did not de-mobilize after ww2- US military reduced its military power by 90% After WW2- It was the Korean War that caused major re-mobilization. The US Army was smaller before Korea then it is today- and this is with a more manpower intensive military. The mass demobilization of the US military After world war two is critically linked to the Atomic bomb- since the US military leadership in the Air force thought that mass armies and fleets were unnecessary in a post atomic era thus the Army was reduced to a level useful only for basic occupation of Japan and Germany and not much else. this is why Korean war was such a crisis early on- the US Army was not prepared for war.

I’m not an American, not even a westerner, but as a student of history and objective analysis I believe the US has been more a force for good for humanity than evil. There’s a tendency to always disdain what is successful as we’ve seen over the past decade with regards to the US more than any other country. To only focus on the failures and declare it some abomination of history. I truly regret such a sentiment and hope we come to a clearer understanding of the US and it’s role in shaping the modern world

The United States became the largest economy in the World in the late 1880's. Massive in territorial size, mineral resources, agricultural capacity and a massively growing population that was almost homogenous (white European and overwhelmingly Christian). It was literally inevitable for the United States to become a Major World power (if not a Superpower) in the 20th century. The Spanish-American war was simply a newly empowered nation, flexing its muscles and realizing their potential.
