Canderous isn't just another character more. And you realize that when in the Revan novel you discover that he's worthy for Revan to take Mandalore's mask.
Canderous was truly an interesting character. Despite being a mass murderer who killed everyone who stepped in his way (including women and children), you can only feel admiration for this guy due to his great charisma and evolution during the game through his conversations with Revan, Carth and Jagi. He was basically the Vegeta of Star Wars.
@@Kolonol1 I think he means it more in the case that Vegeta killed entire populations of worlds and enslaved others, but is now a character that would sacrifice himself for others
@@andrewmeyer3599 I can see that too...o just kind of feel like the personalities are entirely different though...I mean...it could be my bias because Star wars vs Dragonball...and I never entirely LIKED Dragonball but didn't dislike it lol
@@Kolonol1 The personalities are very different. Vegeta is haughty and arrogant, Canderous is confident and doesn't generally bother with his own image
Man I just realized Wrex is just the Mass effect version of Canderous, there story's are almost identical, you meet both of them as war vets working as mercs, and in the second they are leading their people
It's... disappointing to see his deeds were largely boxed-up and shelved by his own people some three centuries later. Granted he had admiration for Revan, but even so it wasn't like he had any great love for the Republic. Then again Montross and Jango Fett weren't allies either in the PT era. It just seems odd to me that the man, the preserver, who reunited the Mandalorians once again, after they as a people were struck such a crippling blow, should get so little recognition by his people.
Mandalorians are proud warriors, but take away their pretty mask and suddenly they decide that warring proudly isn't really their thing anymore. Canderous being forgotten is just a matter of killing him and stealing that toy, then it's each mando for themselves.
Honestly might be best to see what they can do with cleaning up the audio, and keep it otherwise. Honestly most of the 'main' cast audio recording has held up pretty well so they could get away with some touch ups there too. But we shall see.
@100StarWars I wasn't looking for anything specific. I just wanted to learn more and hear more about one of my favorite characters. Sorry if I've been confusing.
My friend amazing and astounding video as always. Again I'm sorry for coming into this late and not commenting yesterday. Canderouse Ordo has always been a fascinating character and I found out about him from KOTOR Movie Saga and Darthycey's videos. It's intriguing to learn how he became Mandalore the Preserver and tried to unite the Mandalorian clans. My friend never get tired of talking about Revan because your right this is the best time to be a fan of Knights of the Old Republic. I'm also curious because Canderouse needed the helmet of Mandalore the Ultimate to unite the clans but fast forward to during and after the Original Trilogy because Bo Katan needs the dark saber to claim leadership to the Mandalorian throne. What became of the helmet by the time of the Original Trilogy and is the dark saber the true symbol of power?
IIRC, for several generations the head of House Vizsla was the Ruler of Mandalore and wielded the darksaber, so it became the symbol of Mandalore just like the original helmet.
100% Star Wars: Okay so we’ll take a break from talking about Revan for now. In a video about Darth Bane: Sorry guys Revan is in this, kind of, still in there tho.
"You had us outnumbered five to one. You had more ships, more troops, more supplies and the Jedi on your side. And we still made the Republic tremble before we fell!" Canderous Ordo
Technically his legacy goes past that into the second galactic civil war where a descendant of his named chernan ordo took up the roll of mandalore for a shirt time.
Canderous is the Garrus of KotOR. Or given the timeline that the games were released I suppose its more accurate to say that Garrus is the Canderous of Mass Effect. Just your ultimate bro that will stick with you no matter what based on a deep mutual respect.
Canderous is one of my favorite KOTOR characters. He is also the man that got me into appreciating and delving deeper into the mandalorian culture as a whole. Hell a character I've made that I'd absolutely love to play in any of the star wars ttrpgs is a descendant of Canderous. He is a character that I absolutely love and I can only hope that he remains true in the upcoming remake.
@@Kolonol1 Kandosii and congratulations, ner vod. Thats one thing I love about mandalorian culture. It might be fictional, but it is very real to many star wars fans.
"You want to hear tales of my exploits? Of the wars I've seen and fought, the enemies I've seen die by my hand? Heh, sure, I'll humor you." - Canderous This man has some great tales to tell you in the first game, his first time with a basilisk war droid being my favorite. Too bad we weren't there to see them. This was some pretty darn good information and I greatly enjoyed the video! But I will say that the one thing that really "bewildered" me about his unique armor, are the tubes that go from his mask and just..end on his back? Preserving that air are we?
Canderous was always one of my favorite Mandalorians. I always loved listening to his stories in KOTOR 1 and I loved his armor in KOTOR 2. I did love how he got the mask in the Revan novel. I remember one time when I was playing the Smugglers main story had finding his skull on an Imperial treasure ship. I hated the Sith Empire for that. I would have preferred if the Mandalorians were allies to the Republic like Canderous tried. That would have made SWTOR very interesting and the Great Galactic War probably would have been a Republic victory. I mean I know the Mandalore at the time was an Imperial puppet, but I'm just saying it would have been interesting. I also loved the speech Canderous said in the cut content in KOTOR 2, if Revan was light side, about what Revan told him was coming before he left. It gave me goosebumps the first time I heard it.
@@GTA2SWcity yeah man! It's crazy! It's such a good nod to the vong books. You can see why the vong didn't invade back then when the first thing they encounter was a full strength Mandalorian army. God damn KotOR is such a good game!
@@pattiaufzack I don't know if it was ever officially confirmed but the description matches the Vong ships and the fact that it left the galaxy and flew out into the void suggests that it was as well. I remember seeing it on a website at some point years and years ago and it just stuck in my head. Might be able to find some reference to it with a search.
@@FoggyPigeon ah right it all makes sense now. I haven’t read the Vong related books yet so I was always slightly confused by that story in KOTOR 1. Like “I need to know what it was that was in the rocks”.
Seriously, if you want to avoid Revan, try checking out the Tales of the Jedi stories, Darth Bane's adventures, Darth Plagueis' rise to power and his eventual "tragedy", the very interesting life, death, rebirth, and second and permanent death of the... "man" known as Sheev Palpatine, the history of the Solo children, the possible far future of Star Wars Legends beyond the Legacy comics...
@@100StarWars Your welcome, also now I know why the armor is different for the Preserver. I wish I can take the Mando Preserver Helmet off of Canderous in Knight’s of the Old Republic 2, my opinion tho.
So where can we find info about Mandalore the Unknown? Not sure what he’s mentioned in or referenced in. Also that could explain why Canderous’s helmet looks different than mandalore the ultimate’s helmet. If he integrated the two helmets together and forged his own, then that would explain the different design.
If the Darksaber existed during his life, it would've perfectly complimented his armor and leadership of the Mandalorians making him similar to King Arthur: His armor and helmet would've been the regal robes and crown while the Darksaber would've been his equivalent to Excalibur
Recently finished the Revan novel, and to summarize it Canderous and Revan went to Rekkiad since Revan had the mask hidden in Lord Drammath's tomb, though meeting Canderous old clan, clan ordo Canderous had to kill his wife since she learned he was actually with Revan, after finding the mask Canderous was willing to venture with Revan into the unknown regions to regain a bit of memory and stop an unseeing threat, that was Darth Vitiate, Revan told him to stay with his clan and lead the Mandalorians just in case said threat was too powerful, and the Mandalorians would be able to protect the Republic from the outside threat, he became Mandalore the preserver.
Next video should be what happened the the Mandolorians between KOTOR 2 and swtor. I always wonder what happened to make them flip from defending the republic to aiding in its destruction
The only confirmation you get that Mandalore is Canderous in KOTOR 2 is at the very end when you ask kreia to tell you his future and she refers to him as Canderous
"It was not your ships, your men or your vaunted "Fight for Freedom" that won this final Battle of the War. It was because of the actions of One man. Revan"
I call bullshit on the Mandolorians being manipulated, they fought because they wanted to, it was for the battle, not some stupid Sith bs, this is how legends ruins shit
I really like Mandalorians they are just really cool i like the many Clone Wars arcs with the Death Watch espacialy the Siege of Mandalore arc in Season 7 The Siege of Mandalore is one of the best animated tv show arcs i have seen in a while its just so epic also the liberation of Mandalore Arc in Star Wars Rebels is also really good in my opinion, its gives an insight into what Mandlore became under the Rule of Palpatines galactic Empire and gave more backstory to Sabine. I would be so happy if we got a new Star Wars game where you play as a Mandalorian bounty hunter i can see an open world Mandolorian game working similarly to the canceld Prey 2 acepting bounties from clients, walking into seedy bars and of course going into a duel your target. great video are you going to make videos on the Kotor remake whenever it comes out like guides and stuff like that and here is a video i dea for you, you could do a breakdown video on the diffrences between the og Kotor and the Remake after its been out for a while
If anything, Canderous' legacy was probably sidelined more than the Exile's was in SWTOR. In the long run he accomplished pretty much nothing, wasn't even named at all in the Old Republic's background videos, and the Mandalorians ended up becoming a Sith puppet just like before. That gets mitigated somewhat by Shae Vizsla a.k.a. Mandalore the Avenger in SWTOR but Canderous and/or his efforts are pretty much out of the picture even then.
