Today a legend has passed away- Kenpachiro Satsuma the actor who played both Gigan and Hedorah in the Showa era but he mostly is responsible for playing his part of The Heisei Godzilla!!!! RIP Kenpachiro Satsuma-San you will be missed! Your now with Haruro Nakajima in heaven
Intrestingly, according to the director godzilla DID live in harmony with Odo island pepole. Not really bothering them much, they would even leave it food in the form of fish when it would stop by the island. This suggest that for all its territorial behavior, gojira was not hostile... Which is even further supported by the fact it didn't kill Koichi when it first saw him in the plane, he was not a threat, it only got agressive when pepole fire on it. Now some would ask why it attacked the tower... Thats simple really. It was spooked by something big shining a light on it and went on the offensive, this is further backed up by the fact godzilla was deep sea organism, that apparently only showed up on land at NIGHT. Its common thing known i marine Biology that if you shrine a bright light on a deep sea animal it will be spooked by it and even take it as a sign of agression. When they shined that light on godzilla, it immidietly acted like most deep sea creatures in that situation, it attacked... But otherwise shown no agression till further enraged. He is also apparently the only remaining one of his kind. He also actually had his broken regen even as the godzillasaurus. It being apparently the only reason he lived the nuke.
am I the only one who thinks the Godzillasaurus is cool enough to have its own prequel? Like something set in feudal Japan where people witness it for the first time or something?
"Godzilla Minus One" has a production budget of only 15 million USD but the overall cinematic quality is so much better than movies with 100 to 300 million US$ budgets. Japan is pure genius 👏 🙌
I’d say it had one or two kinda iffy shots (like when he’s smashing buildings in front of the rooftop reporters) but yes overall for a movie under 15 mil it had very good effects. His first un mutated appearance and the water chase could’ve been in a 100 mil movie for a we’d have known. The writing was the main thing though which was surprisingly good.
@@tikhongilson3770 but still, Hollywood is definitely inflating their budgets. I’ve seen guys single handedly make vfx rivaling Hollywood with Blender.
Also take into consideration that a lot of these high budget features that are made in Hollywood the studios are more than likely laundering money. There's no way you can convince me that some of these huge American productions that look like trash compared to "minus one" needed over 100 million dollars more than this masterpiece.
In the Godzilla Minus One novel Godzilla and the villagers of the island had a symbiotic relationship with each other They would bring him gifts and godzilla would bring them deep sea fish
In addition a tip on top of your thoughtful content, The reason why Godzilla's behavior is unnatural and coming back over and over (In the first place, Godzilla's existence exceeds the rules of physics and biology. That's why people are afraid of Godzilla.) Godzilla is TATARIGAMI as mention Takashi Yamazaki in a interview, TATARIGAMI is a spirit (high-dimensional being) that continued to be feared even after it died a violent death as a human. There is also a theory that he is the incarnation of a heroic spirit who died during WW2. (TATARIGAMI is also depicted in Ghibli's Princess Mononoke. The black stain is common in both films.) Although TATARIGAMI is a wild spirit and is feared and shunned, if it is carefully enshrined, it can become a powerful guardian deity. They are the gods that are worshiped. How would you describe the existence between God and living things as follows? The director and CG artists spent more than six months developing Godzilla's walking style.
I therrize that the Godzillasaurus had regeneration similar to that of an axolotl being able to regrow limbs within a few days however the atomic bomb mutated his genes and excelled the rate of regeneration to the point where it built him a new body after being almost obliterated by the bomb. Kind of like a cancer. Cells that divide and refuse to die. But Hey That Just a Theory
A good theory. It could explain not just how it survived the nuke, but also explains how it could be the last member of a species that functionally went extinct a long time ago.
I always thought Godzilla was a type of bearded dragon lizard mutated by testing nukes... I was not a fan until recently and with minus one they made him look really cool. Kinda feel bad for him as I felt he was only trying to get from one spot in the ocean to the other and happened to take the short cut through the city 🤷♂️
@@sygmeisterI’m pretty much certain it was revenge. The way he stepped on people, targeted buildings, shook people out of there train carriage he picked up and how he came back again
Also something I thought was interesting, I recently got an art book for the 1991 Godzilla vs Ghidorah film, having concept art, storyboards and stills. The concept art for Godzilladaurus was starkly different than the final version, in fact, it looked a lot like the pre irradiated Godzilla in minus one! May have been a specific point of inspiration.
I’m pretty sure your wrong about it’s regenerative powers being from the nuke, as in the brief scene where we see him in the blast radius he is actively regenerating from the nuke while being destroyed. Plus, I saw a person comment on the Japanese novelisation of the film where it is says the same
Have the directors or novels stated wether or not he’s radiated on Odo island? My only question is why were deep sea fish being brought to the surface if it wasn’t radiation killing them?
@@Y1ZZYhis dinosaur form only had the regeneration im sure, axolotls have regeneration capabilities but they take a while, when he was nuked the radiation probably fused with his cells while he was regenerating to give him stupid fast regeneration
I can see why people like it so much, and im starting to like it as well, its a modern version of the old toho gojiras, i like the design as well. Its just the feet. Havent seen the movie yet tho
I was worried about that too, but it really wasn’t an issue for me, there is one part that made me giggle but him standing upright works surprisingly well despite the trailers
@@stevendavis6157 nah, they look better in my opinion, and would of made sense realistically to support its weight when walking. Look into sauropods. I personally dig it, way better then minus one feet. 2014 is a realistic take on Godzilla, though in reality none of them would of been able to exist. Still makes more sense then minus ones feet, wish it wasn't so long and girthy. Doesn't look like it would be able to take a step. Though I can see why you think it's bad, but definitely isn't the worse
Godzilla Minus One is a master work. It's deep. it's funny. the actors all brought their A-game. it looks amazing for the under 15m budget. The writing is just top notch. It isn't just one of the best films of the year, it's one of the best films of the decade!
I personally think that Godzilla at the start of Minus One attacked because the watchtower unintentionally caused him pain when the light hit his eyes. Makes sense if he stayed in the deep for long periods of time. Hell, even WE feel pain when someone shines a flashlight in our eyes, and we spend most of our life in the sun. But that's just my take on it haha Loved the vid!
No because it wouldn't make sense, because Gm1 is already fully mature as you can tell by his dorsal plates, and even if they made him bigger he wouldn't grow much larger at all. It's most unlikely but if he does he will probably only be about 70 meters.
@@_koji1 good point.....as they make more movies I think he might get to 70 meters and then he stops growing....yeah you right.....I can't wait to see what other monsters will look like in this era of Toho.... oooowwwwweeeee 😬💪🏾😁
Confirmed they are different universal also knows multiverse, so confirmed we have no limitless dimensional universe aka multiverse... Multiverse is two Our space Verse And same look planets universe thank you for more informations
Is it me or pre mutated version all things aside, looks alot like the Delgado Godzilla design for the cancelled 94 US movie? I literally thought it when I saw the scene.
I think there should be an honorable mention of the film "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms!' (Released in 1953.) This film was released a year before the original Godzilla. Godzilla's story echoes The Beast from 20000 Fathoms. I even noticed in Godzilla Minus One, Godzilla grabbing soldiers by there heads, the way the monster ate a cop in NYC. If you are a true fan of Godzilla, the watch "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms!' It might just surprise you.
***Spoilers*** Here's a scary thought. Godzilla started regenerate from that SINGLE piece. What about all of those OTHER pieces? Or do you all think it was just from that single piece that came from the head?
I don't think he was ever referred to as being a dinosaur, the directors describes the Godzillasaurus as having a solid self renewal system that allowed it to survive from ancient times, with no exact age being stated.
I will be waiting till the last moment to go watch it. I need to be the only one inside the showing room. I need to be cursing Godzilla out, that is my type of love I have with it. I do not want to make other people mad so I need to be alone with Godzilla. Hahahahaha
If there was a sequel I honestly think that there might of been 2 godzilla-dinosaurs on the island which could explain why it was friendly but there could have been a territorial dispute between the minus one goji which we see is the more aggressive one and the one they said was friendly in the island folks Stories. If it were like raids again I think that there was more species on that island that were stuck in time which can explain anguirus appearing possibly, just underground at the moment maybe .
@bradysmith4405 I'm talking about how the locals of the island said how the beast was a protector there could be another of the godzilla-dinosuar (also don't take this as a serious idea it's just a random thought of what could be )
I thought godzilla was a yokai or local god since i heard that godzilla already exist before it mutated. Someone said that local fishermen used to throw their catch(fishes) to godzilla, when it appear on the surface of the sea as sacrifice to ease his anger. I really want to see the origin of this godzilla since interest me more than origin of legendary godzilla.
Warner Bros. also wastes loads of money on their films. Shame on them, especially for wasting years on their DCEU and throwing it at our faces. Shameful!
El Godzillasaurus mide una altura de 15 metros y una longitud entre 30 a 100 pies el godzilla minus one mide una altura de 50.1 metros una longitud de 77.7 metros y un peso estimado de 20,000 toneladas
I preferred this Godzilla design to the one he mutates into. His sleekness and fast movement was so much more intimidating and interesting than what he eventually morphed into. His final design he looked like a static action figure in many of the shots and perfered it when he was more active/lifelike in his movement.
I think that’s kind of the point though - he becomes something wholly unnatural, uncomfortable in its own body, awkward, even damaging himself when using his breath. He’s straight up just not right.
@@kasjamm but do you think they would have made him slow and lumbering in the first place if they had better tech and knew more about reptiles when they were designing him? That’s why this is a ground up redesign
I like godzilla movie but it's in Japanese so I will not be watching or even shin godzilla better Luke next time .and most people in America are godzilla movies.
He {Godzilla} looks a lot bigger and scarier than he did on that island in the South Pacific at the end of the movie "Australia", but then again he sang away those bad Japanese soldiers in that movie, as well, didn't he.
Birds are a distinct branch of theropods, the avian type. Descendants of a group of theropods. Birds were even living with non avian forms such as ducks, geese, and other species, the group evolved during The early Jurassic.
I am not really a fan of this giant dinosaur theory. It just sounds so unrealistic that some undiscovered giant amphibious therapod managed to survive up until now and then got mutated by nukes. I liked the Shin Godzilla theory more that it's some sort of a fish that started eating nuclear waste and then evolved into an abomination. However Godzilla Minus One is still a masterpiece.
Rather than praising this movie for being made for only $15 million and saying "How did they do this for only $15 million"? We should be asking the serious question of "How did they do this for only $15 million?". How was the crew paid? Were they paid properly for their work? How many people out there complain that they aren't paid properly for the work that they put in. If you don't care about others, then you are supporting a system that is also the reason that YOU aren't being paid properly.
@@nicholascazmay2126 Well, since I work on movies, I know EXACTLY where all that money goes. That is why I'm asking those questions. You can cut corners and be budget conscious, but when you have a movie that is made for a fraction of what it should cost, it's usually the crew that suffers.
@@clubtepes2046I’ve seen singular people make amazing things in blender3d for no money. A small crew given $15 mil should have lots of legroom. Big studio movies in the us seem to inflate their budgets for tax write-off purposes. At least it seems like it shouldn’t cost $200 mil
Gotta love American ideology. Heroes of every World war in the movies Completely distance themselves from there ties to the origins of Godzilla in each of there own versions.
I went to see the movie. I got to say that it dissappointed me. I was expecting to be as good as everyone said but it was not as I thought. The japanese people talked to much and godzilla had almost no scene in the movie. I got to say i'm really waiting for GxK it looks like the monsters are going to have more time in the screen
