Future Trunks said that in his timeline, many people were affected by this virus but in that timeline, there was a cure to this virus. If everyone got that virus, then it was not from Yardrat nor from biting Frieza. It could be something else.
So how does a sickness that Goku would've never experienced due to his immune system translates to "heart virus that killed him in a timeline where there wasn't a cure created for it"?
Young Goku put a water rat in his mouth in order to save the rat from the collapse of the hidden Red Ribbon army base. And the rat was the host of the virus. I read this in a comic book called Dragan Ball SD
He got the virus later than in future Trunks' timeline, because he came to Earth at a later time, so he either got it naturally or Gero made it, as it definitely was caused by going to Earth
He only came to Earth a few hours later than in Trunks' timeline so that wouldn't have made a difference. As far as why it hit him later is this: He was training with Gohan and Piccolo for 3 years so his vitality was much higher than normal. So it took longer to effect him because he was significantly stronger than in Trunks' timeline.
Geez. So, the alien exposed to aliens DIDN'T get the alien virus that was in no way viral to anyone else that didn't go there? Man, your logic is impeccable 👌🏾
@@RenegadeGamer89the virus happened EARLIER in the main timeline than in Future Trunks timeline according to the anime I’m like 90% sure. But your theory could still be right because the difference between him occasionally training in Future Trunks timeline during the 3 years vs his almost constant training in the main timeline means his body was much more active which would get his blood pumping more actively. Which maybe caused the virus to spread quicker? I personally go by the theory that he got it on Yardrat, but the above theory would explain why it came into effect sooner supposedly
@@RenegadeGamer89update: I apologize, I went to look it up and I could’ve sworn I heard Piccolo say the Virus appeared earlier, but it was later like you said. It didn’t make a ton of sense to me because Goku never fought the Androids in Trunks timeline but I thought maybe in his timeline they didn’t discover the Androids right away because they can’t be sensed? But either way I was wrong. It’s possible his higher strength kept him from getting it too quickly like you said but who knows.
If u think about it identical to heart attack I think too much cholesterol or when he he did trigger super Saiyan form it spead up his body even his heart
Regardless of how interesting or mundane the reason is, I really grew to appreciate the fact that the strongest mf in the universe who overcame everything else before, would suffer so much and have his life hang in the balance (and LOSE it in the other timeline) from "just" an illness of all things, it's humbling in a way. A fair few years back I was quite sick myself in a tremendous amount of pain and there was always the possibility of not making it in the worst case scenario, and I recalled Goku going through this at some point in the haze and it really touched me, even made me feel not so alone in a time where I was frustrated, suffering and truthfully scared as corny as that sounds. This franchise has done so much for so many people in so many ways this is just one lil story out of countless, God bless Dragon Ball truly ❤
It was just a random virus that affected tons of people trunks said it himself that in his time line many people were affected but they had a cure by the time it was affecting masses of people Goku was probably one of the first to some how get most likely from eating raw foods.
@@matthewrosette2170so vegeta has a heart virus? Cause if your saying he got it from that place and vegeta went to train there that means vegeta would of already had the symptoms of the heart virus by now in the manga so your theory doesnt work
I heard a theory that he "caught" the virus when he drank Korin's sacred water (cho shin sui in the original). This is the water he drank to defeat king Piccolo. He only survived because he was pure of heart. But since Goku momentarily ceased to be pure of heart when he transformed into super sayan, that would have triggered the heart virus.
Damn I just realized it’s probably other people on that planet that had the virus at that time and just died because trunks only brought the cure for Goku
To be fair, the main reason the heart virus killed so many people was that society was destroyed by the androids. I'm sure plenty of people could have beaten the virus with proper medicine and medical professionals keeping them alive, even without a cure, but when you're barely eating and you have to run from monsters all the time, a virus will hit you much harder.
If only a single member of their group had been a billionaire scientist in charge of the single largest corporation on the planet with a ridiculous R&D budget.
Goku might have gotten the heart disease from eating a rat when he was a kid and it was alive. Due to being a Saiyan, Goku did not get infected untill he got older.
In the context as an adult he woundn't get sick from a "earth" natural thing, and any stress strain can make immune system weaker, usually any invasive lifeforms distrupts the ecosystem. If the "thing" made him sick after super saiyan mode he would definitely had it far beforehand, that means within a few hours ago of feeling side-effects is when he got it.
Well if you think about it, goku was at a loss when he used ss blue kaioken for the first time facing off hit. He couldn’t control his ki. When goku became ss for the first time. He was in a life or death situation and his body is more focus on surviving at the cost of endurance and energy. Being that he was at 2 foreign planets with possible deceases. Like normal humans, we can easily catch a sickness if we are weakened or in places that have foreign bodies.
My headcanon is that Goku got the heart virus after biting Frieza's tail on Namek, with Super Saiyan speeding up its growth. I know it's silly, but besides the Yardrat theory it's my best bet on how he got the virus.
@madhulikasingh6997I think his body gain a resistance to that virus or similar given he survived the first one, much like human bodies building antibodies after surviving something goku’s body may do the same thing, although he would at least fall ill if that’s the case as his body react but he probably survives it
My theory is that Kaioken was the cause of either the weakning of his immune system or the cause itself, King Kai warned Goku that his body wouldn't be able to handle anything beyond double, and yet in Namek he used Kaioken x10.
@@lucasfelipe8349 and he used Kaioken x 20. He could have had the dormant symptoms of the heart virus but using Kaioken and then super Saiyan later that day must have made it oh so much worse
My theory is that Goku has used Kaioken heavily which caused his blood pressure to raise aswell, and on his fight at Namek against Frieza, he went for Kaioken x20 which raised his blood pressure so much that he gets an heart attack because of it well, atleast the signs of it around Namek.. and since he non-stop use SSJ throughout Android Saga, it've most likely raised and sped up his virus progress I know it's kinda strange but blood pressure can cause damage to your heart y'know..
Trunks mentions in the dub that the heart virus is an earthly pathogen that shows up more frequently in the future. Goku was just one of the first to contract it.
It was a natural Earth virus that many people got infected with. In Future Trunks' timeline they advanced their medical knowledge on it to the point of developing a cure, which is what was used to save Goku's life.
@@robbiehutch8126 Trunks specifically says "In the future there is a cure" not "My mom made a cure" and reading other comments confirms that even more, it affected the whole plane, and we had that in the real world so it isn't unbelievable.
@@rsho3472that's English dub, in the original dub Trunks specifically says Bulma made it, that's why people shouldn't use the English dub as their go to it gives the show a lot more inconsistencies and omits a lot of important info like that little fact, it was future Bulma the one that created it you can look it up if you don't believe it
@@Wolf_3125 Kaoiken is 8 Gate version of Naruto, it puts severe strain on the body including Organs, muscle etc and can makle the user explode if the multiplier is beyond what they can handle, goku uses this technique alot during the Saiyan and Namek saga. it could of weaken his immune system enough to infect him.
Namek makes sense when you consider the fact that Goku and Frieza spent time on that planet while it was dying. The planet released a lot of toxic gases which they inhaled for a long time. We don't see Frieza suffer from it of course because he died on Earth. Reason why I'm not opting for Yardrat is because Vegeta also went there and was just fine... Unless of course Bulma made up a cure off screen.
That falls apart when you consider the manga stating that the Future Timeline had the Virus at common places and There’s a Public Drug for it in the future.
It could also be that it didn't affect Vegeta becuz current Vegeta is way way way stronger than any DBZ character, heck base Vegeta would probably solo SSJ3 Goku who is solar system level I think so I doubt a virus will affect him at his current power level
Ik i may sound stupid but remember the piccolo arc where goku went to korin and he drank idk what it was called water. Korin said 15 or 14 people drank it, and they all died. Maybe when goku did drink it and ofc he felt pain but he was able to survive it. Maybe it gave him a virus and the ssj transformation made the virus stronger. Idk IT IS JUST A THEORY.
In the original timeline he does. Our goku is supposed to be dead but because future trunks went back to give him the medicine for the heart virus, he never died and the future gohan story never happens. But the future gohan timeline is actually the main timeline and the current DB timeline is split off from where it was originally headed
@@cyanidegrapes yep, some forget that where Future Trunks comes from, that's the OG timeline (the 1 showing up at the Frieza invasion) then we got another split timeline where they actually manage to get Trunks to be stronger and he returns to the future, where he kills the androids but loses to Cell, that's another timeline, since Trunks returns either way.
@@DarkDyllonhe lost to cell because he didn't get stronger in that timeline but he somehow was able to stop the androids so a lot of people speculate they found the blueprints for the androids which they should have found them earlier because Bulma in fact knows where Dr. Gero's lab is located but they may have had trouble finding anything since 17 destroyed it but they didn't know about the basement
but the fact that Trunks ONLY gives Goku the medicine against it, means that he was patient 0. otherwise the heart virus would spread anyways if it was native from Earth, which means that people would die regardless, just not Goku and pals because of the medicine.
My headcanon is that, regardless of where the virus actually came from, he was particularly susceptible to it due to heart problems sustained from when he underwent cardiac arrest in his first fight against King Piccolo
@@bastilashan2627the androids weren't even aware of cell, the virus could have been plan B in case the androids weren't enough, and cell could have been plan C lol
@@bradleystitesit makes the most sense since it literally makes your heart beat any number faster depending on how much he’s using like kaioken is already beating 2 times faster then base so imagine the damage he did from amping it up
@davidbowerman3089 There is nothing conclusively stating where or when he acquired it, and any number of things can be a catalyst for the virus to be activated. It seems more likely Goku is patient zero and caught it at yardrat or had it even since the child, but it wasn't contagious until the androids. We don't even know how long before it shows symptoms... We just know it was a plague in the future timeline.
Bruh that makes no fuckin sense trunks said the heart virus was a big thing in his timeline, that’d mean most of the population of earth somehow went kaio ken
Goku’s heart disease is the only example that I know of for anti plot armor. When goku was bedridden the show felt like it had some stakes with them taking out the only super saiyan
I believe the heart virus was from Earth since others caught the virus and there was a cure developed in Trunks’ timeline. So the virus couldn’t have come from Namek or Yardrat.
@@bradleystites If that were true than the most likely person to spread to the virus to the rest of the world would’ve been Bulma and if she got the virus then she wouldn’t have survived in the future timeline as long as she did.
@@priscillajimenez27 You can treat a viral infection with antiviral medications, but only within the first 72 hours of being infected. After that, you have no choice but to ride it out. So Trunks just handing him an antidote for a viral heart disease is, in reality, impossible.
If Dr. Gero was able to make both the Androids and Cell, and have the capability to build miniature drones to collect DNA samples from the Z warriors and Frieza's remains without them noticing to make Cell, then why couldn't he develop the heart virus and deliver the viral payload via some small fly-like drone to an unexpecting Goku? Goku, when unguarded and unaware, is able to be struck and hurt quite easily. It happen with Krillin throwing a rock at his face when Goku and Gohan were lying down on the grass during the Cell saga. It happened again in Dragon Ball Super when Frieza's henchman blasted him in the back by a simple laser weapon after Frieza used up his golden form and was about to lose. Whis even told Goku he was too careless and constantly lets his guard down when he and Vegeta were training on Beerus' planet. To me, that's the most probable cause of him catching this super deadly virus, Goku was probably completely oblivious to some bug flying around his face that was actually a drone carrying the virus. Even in that scene where Krillin threw the rock at Goku, it showed a butterfly landing on Goku's nose without him doing anything about it. Gero isn't a stupid man, he's a genius, he's very much aware that Goku is a powerful foe. He saw how Goku, as a child, was capable of destroying the Red Ribbon army. So why wouldn't he do something that'll weaken his opponent knowing that his opponent would most likely be far more powerful now that he's a full grown adult than when he was just a child?
He got sick on yardrat because frieza knew about that planet being poison,so he banished the yardratians there to punish them, but it was unaffected to them...
so vegeta has a heart virus? Cause if your saying he got it from that place and vegeta went to train there that means vegeta would of already had the symptoms of the heart virus by now in the manga so your theory doesnt work
I'm sure it was a heart attack because Goku would eat a massive amount of food throughout his life. So I'm sure it was a heart attack.. with that being said, future trunks went back in time and gave Goku heart medication so he won't have a heart attack.
@shawnwatson-kn1lc What you need to remember is that all of this stuff In dragon ball z is translated out of Japanese and into english. Japanese and english are not just 1 to 1 languages with different words meaning other words, some things just are not translatable. And that being said, it is actually pretty reasonable. That heart virus just meant heart disease or heart attack. Especially now that toriyama is no longer is with us. It's impossible to truly tell.
He definitely caught it in space. My guess is yardraat, but I never thought of the possibility that the pod he healed in could have messed his heart up a little.
Yup that’s my best bet too, people saying it’s on namek after frieza send his nova blast thing inside planet namek causing possible poisonous fumes to spurt out from the core but it’s not possible because gohan and piccolo would have been infected by it too at time when they came back to earth right before it was about to blow up namel, they also should have infected the others by than but they didn’t. So in other words the only possible explanation for his heart virus could be from space or yadraats like you said, could be the air that he was breathing in for a while especially when he had a weakened immune system from using both super saiyan for so long and kaioken on planet namek against freeza, so yeah we probably got the best guest yadrats air, it’s most likely an air borne space pathogen that was already deadly to other mortal beings who’s physiology couldn’t resist or build an immunity against the virus, in essence goku, which led to him spreading it to other humans in trunks timeline.
It’s possible but then trunks came out and said there’s no cure for it in the present but in the future there is. It’s possible the virus goku got was on earth and he may have been one of the very first victims.
I doubt it considering vegeta isn't currently feeling any side effects of the sickness, so it was most likely on earth. I also doubt he got in space because without a doubt, vegeta would've known about it considering his time spent in space. (Which was way more than goku at the time.) Also, if you really think about future Burma, is probably the only character who knows where rhe virus originated
@@unknowns765dang you do got a good point, yeah might have to scratch that other idea than most likely, but doesn’t explain how goku got it so easily before any of the other z fighters think it was because he was pushing himself a lot when he was going super saiyan and kaioken?
NONE of these theories, explain why it suddenly took a lot longer for Goku to contract the virus than it did in FT Trunks timeline. Also it's 100% an earth virus. As Trunks explains in the future this virus is readily treatable. If goku was a unique case. Nobody would be bothering creating an antidote. Especially when there is murderous androids around soon.
1. It’s possible that viruses can remain dormant or was not strong enough as Goku kept growing higher and higher limits until he hit a wall/grew slower after Namek. Which means either something happened to make him vulnerable(least likely unless overworking stress) or would give enough time for the virus to evolve as it has been trying to catch up from whenever he became a carrier of it. Also time was already changing as Trunks mentioned the timelines were not the same when he found out about different changes. However, Goku does die before he meets 17 and 18. Which Trunks mentions if I remember correctly. Goku also has the cure but doesn’t take it until the disease begins to take effect as it did line up with his timeline to an extent. 2. It becomes readily treatable which means it becomes an Earth virus, doesn’t mean that’s where it came from in the beginning. Even with the rampant different species back in dragonball time, every day dragonball citizens didn’t think of life on other planets as a full thing. 3. Nobody said others can’t/don’t catch it. Just means he could’ve been the first and if it is from another planet, brought it with him.
@@RMPJR2 You seem to forget that Goku isn’t out of Mount Pouzu often, and when he is he either Visits Kame House or Capsule Corp but even then he wouldn’t be able to go anywhere once the Virus Strikes. Besides that’s not how Viruses work, by your logic, Covid-19 is a Variant of the Flue or Black Plague because how Global it is today.
True, but with future Trunks coming back, the timeline changed. Just telling Goku and pals about the androids, somehow cause them to be released later, and that there were more than 2. Maybe Goku training hard for the android battle, slowed the progress with his heart virus. Maybe in future Trunk's time, Goku relaxed causing the virus to spread faster. Well there is no proof on the virus being from Earth or outer space. Trunks only said that the virus was cured in his time. Goku could have been patient number one, the virus then spreads, and Earthlings find a cure. It's not farfetched.
Planet yardrat atmosphere was poisonous to Goku while he was there and that's how he caught the heart virus then trunks gave Goku the antidote from the heart virus killing him
Maybe he got it from Captain Ginyu, remember in Namek he and Ginyu swap body in a few episodes. Maybe when Goku return to his body he got some of Ginyu's diseases transfer along with him.
Future trunks said there was a outbreak Of the heart diease and by the time goku died of it there was no cure , Later on there was a cure and the pills He gave goku were grape flavored which Goku didn't like .
Because you can't revive someone who died of natural causes. During the fight with frieza Kami says that guru wouldn't be revived by the dragon due to dying naturally but king Kai says what if what happened to namek caused him to die earlier than he should've and that's what brought him back
THIS is the question that keeps me up at night. How did Goku catch the heart virus? A person doesn’t feel the effects of a virus until about a day or two after catching it. Could it have been from Yardrat? Well. Possibly. The planet could have had an odd atmosphere. Was it from his days as kid? Probably but unlikely. Goku seemed perfectly fine back then. Was it on Namek? Maybe but again, he seemed fine after he got out of the Healing Tank. Even the Super Saiyan transformation didn’t suddenly trigger the virus’s effects, since he was able to beat Frieza with relative ease. Was it from Dr Gero? While that seems to make the most sense because that’s what the doc’s number 1 goal is, we don’t know how he would even have been able to infect Goku with it. In early Vietnamese dubs of DBZ, they wanted to add a bit more humor into the show, so they explain that Goku instead of a heart virus, it was instead food poisoning. This actually kinda makes sense and is my personal headcanon. As we all know, the only thing Goku loves as much as fighting is eating, so him contracting some sort of illness from eating a food is possible. Fun Fact: The symptoms of the heart virus are very similar to that of Myocarditis: Palpitations, Shortness of breath, and Chest Pains.
Dr. Gero making it is the best theory especially since Dr. Gero had tabs on the z fighters to create cell and the virus was planted on a meal for goku in order to be weak enough for cell to absorb.
It could be from many things, from being exposed to the radiation in dying namek, from being weakened after his fight with Freeza and exposed to yardrat's strange environment, or it could have been developed by dr. Gero as a back up plan in case his androids weren't enough to kill him, he has been studying him since he was a kid so he may developed a disease strong enough to kill a Saiyan since the disease was accelerated due to him becoming ssj
Probably from eating something random in the forest while training. His main partners are gohan who I think would say that’s poisoness before eating or piccolo who doesn’t eat food so that’s why they never caught it
They specifically said the virus attacked people with pure hearts. That’s why Goku died in trunks timeline. When trunks, mom finally invented the cure, he went back in time to try to change the future by taking him the cure.
