He's not "synching with the video". This IS the video! Each of the Tales was recorded live, in a single take! As was Hi Ren and as are a good proportion of his music videos. He's become known as a master of the live, single take video. Years of busking on the street have made this second nature, though his live, one takes are always meticulously planned beforehand.

I saw an interview with Ren where he said in order to sing or move or rap and whatever else while performing a complex song, he practices the guitar/piano part over and over and over again until he could do it in his sleep -- he creates muscle memory. SUBJECT MATTER: Mental health, generational violence....YES. I don't want to hear about your b*tch and your gun. I don't want to hear screaming threats. This...THIS is exceptional and monumental. Oh, it's not like there are no "bad words" but they are used IN CONTEXT. They are not superfluous, and have EVERYTHING to do with the story. Bad words are still words. He does not go for shock value; just...proper journalistic recording. These things HAPPEN in our world. He can sing of TERRIBLE things that we are exposed to, with and understanding and tenderness. I think Ren said his dad gave him a child's guitar at 10 years old . . . I do know he has said he taught himself to play mostly by watching RU-vid videos. 🤯 These songs were actually written several years apart. "Jenny's Tale" was inspired by a true crime report in the newspaper. The rest came from Ren's mind 🧠. "What if Ren did the new James Bond song?" 🤣🤣🤣
The compilation of the three was put together two years ago. The first two songs were released in 2019, then Violet came in '22. And if you recall, Violet's story is placed in 2005, 14 years before the releases of Jenny and Screech. Love the energy! Keep it up!

It was originally going to be while Ren is back in the UK after finished treatments in Canada and before moving to the US, but then he accidentally went and made an album that wasn’t planned 😅 All we know is that it will be in the same raw style as this trilogy, but that is enough for me to say that if Netflix doesn’t give Ren his own show, they are fools 😂

Ren has started to change the world, not just in music where his creativity is so massive that he can raise the tide for other artists, but the whole future. He endured years of pain and suffering while staring down his own mortality, and it changed him... heated, forged, and honed his tooth and tongue, deepened the well of his heart, expanded his vision and his patience, attuned him to the human condition, hardened him from attacks while softening him to feel others pain and speak from it, and it polished the many facets his soul. He's a gift for humanity and this old soul can tell you that his profound brilliance magnified through his transcendent music into every dimension of humanity is a voice for the coming age. Ren has a deep influence on so much of what history will remember him for and we get to experience it ourselves in the "now" when we resonate with him. Ren is a spiritual tuning fork and so many are moved by him in their hearts throughout the world that their own lives can be viewed differently as they can now resonate with a different perspective. Watch Ren's first YT interview with Justin Hawkins. Ren he goes into detail about his music and how he learnt to play guitar. Basically Ren was given a battered guitar by his dad, around 10yrs old. Ren says, he carried it around with him all the time, He learned from watching YT. He said, if he wanted to learn a technique or style of music, he would find a YT guitar instructor that he clicked with.

Ren is talented alright. That was a one-take. A lot of his songs are one-takes for authenticity. He also does most of his own beats and pre and post production. His catalogue is huge and diverse: RAP, rock, soul, storytelling folk, retakes and covers. His lyrical skills are unmatched by any contemporary artists. He had an excellent band called The Big Push that did mostly covers with some originals. I recommend their version of War Pigs and I Shot the Sheriff as well as a couple of originals: Icarus and Swan Song. For solo work: The Hunger, Genesis, The Tale of Jenny and Screech (all three parts) and maybe The Money Game (all three parts). Additionally, he collaborated with Chinchilla on two gorgeous tracks Chalk Outlines and How to Be Me. That’s barely scratching the surface. Welcome to the Ren Rabbithole. Enjoy the ride. Just to clarify, Ren is not mentally ill. He went through almost ten years of misdiagnosis from bipolar disorder to M.E. only to find out that he had Lymes disease. At its worst point, his sickness made him so ill he couldn’t get out of bed for almost a year. He was very weak and severely underweight because he couldn’t keep a lot of food down. In past two years, he has received stem transplants to help repair some of the damage done by having untreated Lyme disease for so long. He is now doing much better though he still deals with Chronic Pain and Autoimmunity that severely limits his diet. He went through Hell and chose to learn from the experience and kindly pass on his wisdom to others. He is an Artist in the best sense of the word. #freesickboi 😊💜😊
Ren actually does have ME from having Lyme disease for so long, that’s why he was in Canada for treatments. Ticks are nasty little things, I have alpha-gal syndrome (Lone Star tick disease) and am now allergic to beef and pork because of a tiny little tick bite! Took 2 years to diagnose and it was only by accident that they ran the wrong allergy tests, was supposed to be for pollens and other “outside “allergies but the lab accidentally ran my blood test for food allergies… the dr still didn’t put 2 & 2 together until I researched it and was like…” Um, I think I have this disease “. I quit eating beef and pork and my throat quit closing up on me. But I can eat venison and chicken.

Thought I might share with you . I looked up any story about a 14 y/o street kid killing street walkers and it pulled from an old news article. The rest I believe Ren put into a story about every day stories from the streets that few people pay attention to. But these things do happen without a peep.
From what I understand is that sometimes in the 90s a murder happen in London and he got the idea of doing this. Ren is Welsh, Welsh is renowned for its melodic tones and rich history of poetry, singing and storytelling.
Yeah, The Bard 2.0 Srsly. A tragedy on crack. Watching through a second time is even more f'd up, now that you know Jenny was also 14 - Screech's twin. None of them ever had a chance. Born orphans (Mom dead and father not around), they likely got split up in the system, and Jenny wound up a 14-year-old walking the same streets she's walked 1000x before. In high heels...at night...with her face painted...looking like a "lady." And then there's the interpretation of the twins' father - could be Stevie, could be Violet's father. Maybe that's why she was able to get a council flat (like a HUD project), got a roommate Stevie who took advantage of her. Who knows? Story: Ren saw a headline that a 14-year-old boy was charged with murder (of a prostitute, I think). He wondered how that could have happened... The article quoted a police officer saying it was a shame. It bothered him. I think it's the UK version of the US's "thoughts and prayers," maybe it meant something before, but now it's an awful throwaway comment to a tragedy.
I don't want to take anything from Ren. He is a musical genius. I love everything he has done. The highs, the lows. All of it. A complete genre jumping and in some cases, era jumping. But, if you truly love the guitar, and how Ren has personally self taught his mastery of it, I would recommend another guitarist. This guy does not sing, but, he makes you feel the music all the same. His name is Marcin. I would start with the song Salt from when he was younger. Through him, you will meet Tim, another phenomenal guitarist. But first. You truly need to get the entirety of all that is Ren. From edm mash up I'm losing it, to For Joe, where you will bawl your eyes out. Ren will treat your soul similar to how ppl felt about Motzart's music. He will touch you in places you never thought music could go. The Hunger, Money Game trilogy, Genesis, Halftime, and yes, even his response to King Dido (sorry, I can't remember his name right) with Knox Hill. Once you have had your fill, by all means, then go check out Marcin. If you want to experience good rock and roll, I recommend three amazing sisters from Mexico who have been performing for over 10 years already....The Warning. They will definitely not disappoint. Sorry, went way off topic there, serious apologies. Enjoy your new ride, it will definitely be a journey not wasted.
Ren does a few things with James Bond but I'd have to advise you to gravitate to Love Music - Part 2 (after you've reacted to Love Music - Part 1, of course) for the head-melter 😉👍 The Love Musics just get exponentially better and dirtier as they go.

Sorry for the comment bombing, I just finished watching and I must say, your reaction to Ren is the best I have seen yet and I have seen way too many. Don't stop being you, you are awesome. Also yes, it is based of truth.
Most of what Ren does is live and is often done with one camera/one take. It's quite easy for him to perform live due to his background in street busking. Ren makes all his own beats, edits, produces and writes, beatboxes, sings, raps, acts, he's a poet lyricist and a genuine all round performer and has achieved all this despite being so very ill half his life :) As far as the Stories go, the general consensus regarding Violet is that she was sexually abused by her father and obviously kept it quiet and told not to tell hence her silence, it is thought she was pregnant at 16 by her dad hence the reason she left home abd got social housing. She didn't tell Stevie who the father was but he knew it wasn't him which is why he calls her a little liar so often. She'd clearly never had any pre natal help or even a scan and didn't know it was twins who were then taken into care and seperated so they didn't know each other :)
