It would be more accurate to say 'it took me 12 years to realize that studios deliberately reuse the same items/characters in multiple of their movies and also leave them as easter eggs for the fans'.
For the nun and the cop, I honestly expected that since they're background characters. It's not rare for their models to be reused if the style between two movies are the same. As for the shoe brand, it's small wink and a nod like in many other movies (for example: a car looking identical to Doc Hudson in The Incredibles during the final battle with the omnidroid or also the "Lightyear" tire brand in cars referencing to Buzz Lightyear.)
Fun fact: in despicable me 2 you can see a young Ted from the Lorax dancing with a girl. Also to find that scene it is when Margo is crying at the party place (Edit:) dang 111 likes is crazy

This guy’s theory kind of falls apart when he mentions the girl with red hair from Minions and The Lorax. Gru and her were around the same age in Minions meaning she’s an adult by the first Despicable Me. Maybe the little girl is her daughter though.
If the girl from Minions is the same age as Gru and is that age at the same time as the Lorax nun is alive, then the nun might be dead by the time Gru grows up.

Pixar Theory but it's Illumination. Most of these are probably either easter eggs or just reused assets. Its easier to make a movie if you already have characters or objects in your library
It is made by the same studio. The major point is that Illumination does this to save money and time, since their company is enormous and to always animate new assets and characters or other stuffs, it's too much to pay and it will be time-consuming.
@@its_ivanmarsdawg you don’t get the dude’s point. He’s telling you to assume that this film, just like any other animated film, is its own thing. Studios will use their old character models again and again to save money. Try to think what possible purpose there could be for these films existing in the same universe, or how it would make sense to either film’s story. It doesn’t and wouldn’t. There’s no need to go finding connections in places where they aren’t. Just enjoy the film and move on.
When Dr. Suess wrote The Lorax all those years ago, I'm sure it was completely his intent that it take place in the same world as the Minions. (And dare I say it, Mario too)
I had that theory long before you did ; all of the animated Illumination Entertainment movies are in the same universe, not counting Hop, just takes place in different places and points in time, you just have to try to figure out what happened. 😊❤
The Minions was set in the 60s and that girl hasn't aged. So does the Despicable Me Timeline have a random dystopian period that lasted from the 60s through to the 2000s.
