I would be concerned about chemicals leaching from the bag to the chocolate due to the heat. I think it is safer to use a double boiler to melt the chocolate.
It doesn't take too much longer to use real whip cream, especially if you have a stand mixer. Absolutely, don't melt chocolate chips in the package like that. It also doesn't take that long to make a Graham cracker crust. You can buy those little silver tins and fill them with your own crust.
@@LisaZ-dw6vq I'm sure the plastic is leaking chemicals but using the microwave is definitely not safer. Putting any food in the microwave kills every bit if nutrition in the food.
Just remember, the reason the mixture was bumpy looking is because the so called hot chocolate would not help to thaw the cool whip. Instead the frozen cool whip would seize the chocolate and harden it making for the bumps as you tried to break it up while mixing it together. In other words, make sure the cool whip is defrosted BEFORE you try to mix it with anything! Simple science people.
No. The cool whip needs to be frozen. Thawed cool whip changes the entire consistency of the pie and it tastes different. You want the bits of chocolate.
Wouldn't it be better to melt the chocolate in the bowl in the microwave then add the cool whip. The chocolate would not be wasted in the packaging and more in the bowl.
No. It heats up the cool whip to fast in the hot bowl and you end up with a soupy chocolate mess. The chocolate has to cool slowly to get the little bits that melt in your mouth. Just my experience making this for years.
Just a little bit of a hint and they look really good, on the top next time instead of grating your chocolate maybe try shaving it in little curls, while it sets up in the refrigerator and or crush the chocolate and sprinkle over top with a spoon.
Their all saying the same thing about the bag of chocolate 😒.. I just want to know if it tastes good before I go spending money onnkt. Seems so easy to make tho. So I may just give it a go 😅
I did it! I mentioned the grater 😂😂😂 Just was a little later seeing the video. The lack of a hairbrush and her chapped lips in EVERY video she makes is what's beyond me. They have to know that people look at all the details. Why wouldn't they just not make all the very avoidable faux pas?
Love this! If you like a baked crust I’ve butter brushed these little guys and pre-baked for 10-15 minutes and put no-bake cheesecake filling. You’ve given me toms of easy pie ideas thank you ❤
What do you mean? "If you like a baked crust", you're supposed to bake the fucking crust !! who eats a goddamn pie crust without baking it? What? What planet is this??
You're all worried about the chocolate bar bag being boiled, but the cool whip is basically eating plastic and chemicals so why not boil a few more packages for a 'home made' dessert.😂
Now Justine... i wasn't sure about it at first but when i tell you i tried this out and are the entire thing.... it was so dang good. Now im thinking about how i can revamp it by mixing in some fruits too. Thanks for introducing us to this. Yum yum.
I love these simple sweet recipes Justine! Keep bringing them! Especially the peanut butter and chocolate treats and any Berry recipes! Love your recipes! 😊
I've always made this "candy bar pie" with 2 bars of Hershey's milk chocolate with almonds and 1 bar of Cadbury milk chocolate with almonds it's the best! Don't ask why I use a Cadbury bar instead of all Hershey's but I was just taught to make it that way ;D Also I use only half of the tub of a large cool whip to mix with the melted candy bars then I top the pie with the remaining cool whip. Now I have to go make one, thanks!
I like your version too. I've been making these for about 50 years or so. I only use one bar of chocolate though. Two would be just way to sweet for me. I dont use the redi-whip since it has cool whip, and I shave the milk chocolate onto the pies. I also keep mine in the freezer. They literally melt in your mouth. 😂 I've also used Oreo and shortbread crusts to mix up the flavors from time to time! I also keep my cool whip frozen. I like the bits of chocolate! Excellent video! Tried not to get OCD from you squeezing the bags! 😂😂😂 Reminded me of my kids toothpaste!
This is wild as I have always had this as my go to as its loved by anyone and everyone! Course I didn’t know they had mini Graham cups... I would either use a double boiler or this range top thingy to diffuse the heat and use a package of individual Hershey with almond bars and then when melted would add the cool whip so that helped melt the cool whip better in the pan and then put into a pie crust of Graham cracker and freeze slightly before eating a piece of the pie. But this is cool to have individual. But with the almond bars you get little bites of the almonds every so often so it’s just not chocolate mousse
I'd melt it in a bowl then add the cool whip. You're leaving a lot of chocolate behind. If the bag breaks in the water it's ruined. Not meant for boiling.
I like it! I would use zero sugar chocolate, sugar free Cool Whip or make my own, sprinkle a few sugar free chocolate chips on top. Love the individual servings! Your cookware is so great. I think Amazon for the pan? But what about that great pot on the stove??? Would love to know. Thanks Justine! Happy Tuesday! 💛🌼🥰🇺🇸
@@marlenafina3481 Cus the headline reads....." How did I not know this chocolate treat " Suggests to me something interesting so I tuned in. Nice try though.
I’d use real whipping cream. Cool whip is made with hydrogenated oils and other bad stuff. 😮 and real heavy cream whipped up tastes so much better. Give that a try 😊
40 YRS AGO . I WOULD PURCHASE HERSHEY'S CHOCOLATE SYRUP. SO MUCH BETTER THAN MELTING BARS. THE LARGE TUB OF COOL WHIP. MIX TOGETHER WITH 2,CAP FULLS OF VANILLA EXTRACT. MIX WELL POUR INTO PREMADE GRAHAM CRACKER CRUST .PUT IN FRIDGE 6 HOURS. . BETTER WHRN HERSHEY'S SYRUP . AND VANILLA EXTRACT.
Why not mix in instant chocolate pudding into the CoolWhip instead of the Hershey Bars. Refrigerate until set. I would be worried about the plastic on the chocolate bars.
I'm so confused you. You put a mixture of whipped cream and chocolate and pie crust. Did you were those pie crusts baked pre-baked? I'm so confused! I watched this whole thing thinking that it was going to be bad and I'm I'm 100% satisfied that I have received what I was looking for.
Mmm a nice serving of your daily dose of microplastics. Nom nom nom. 😋 Some scientists have estimated the average person might eat 5 grams of microplastics in a week-about the weight of a credit card.
But wouldn’t the chemicals, if any, leach into the chocolate anyway? Chocolate melts in pockets or purses and we eat that anyway. We need to ask Hershey. Looked and the wrapper is food grade.
I don't like chocolate or cool whip. I would either use vanilla pudding and redi whip. Don't attack me please. I'm allergic to chocolate. But there are many ways to make this. It looks good. It sucks being allergic to chocolate.
Uh, have you never heard of chocolate chip morsels?? Those wrappers are NOT meant to be boiled!! 😮 If you must use bar chocolate, please use a double boiler or microwave safe bowl 🙏
