WTF, Captivating History? Getting that name anywhere close to the word hero is the most disgusting click-bait maneuver I've ever tasted. Hard pass and Unsubscribe!
The question shouldn’t be “was mao a tyrant” the answer to that is yes of course he was a genocidal maniac 100x worse than hitler. The question you should ask is why aren’t we taught this stuff and only taught how evil fascism was and never taught about how bad communism is?
I don't know which country you're from but am puzzled why you said you were never taught about how bad communism is. If you're from the US well the US is anti-communist all along and with US involvement in Vietnam, Cuba and USSR they are communists. If you're from Europe then WWII and Hitler's fascism is much closer than Mao's China. I don't think Karl Max prescribed tyranny for communism ideology as such, only the people misused communism and become tyrants. There're good books in English on modern Chinese history, the Chinese civil war, Mao, The Great Famine, the Cultural Revolution and a new huge tome on Chiang Kai-Shek is coming out (the Chinese translation is already out).
@@resikinwhat an ignorant comparison XD you're comparing WARTIME policies that CONTRIBUTED (not caused, big difference mate) to famine in an area that had several years prior, suffered through various forms of famines caused by crop disease and water shortage, not to mention JAPAN on their doorstep screwing with food shipments. The same crap is happening with Ukraine right now mate. You want to compare an unforeseen political policy failure with a dictator who mercilessly murdered millions of his own citizens? You want to compare malevolence? Between Churchhill...and Mao. I couldn't think of a less interesting conversation with someone who clearly needs to look deeper into history and political science before trying to form opinions online. Did you genuinely believe that what you said was valuable to anyone? Think that was edgy? It just highlighted your ignorance. Hell, why not compare Mother Theresa with Hitler. If you distort the narrative enough you can tell any story you'd like, it doesn't mean its very accurate.
A man who would have made history if he worked with Chiang to end the civil war like what Sec. Marshall hoped. Later became a tyrant who almost led to civil war and a return to chaos of the last century.
It's far more complicated than 'Mao working with Chiang'. As early as 1927 CKS was already trying to crush the CCP. In 1945 after WWII both parties were fighting against each other but the peasants supported the CCP. The KMT under CKS was itself corrupt, there was infighting and the nation's economy collapsed. And CKS was a tyrant himself. Don't forget the father of the nation ROC, Dr Sun Yat-sen himself was sympathetic to communist ideology and enlisted Soviet Russia's help to found the KMT Military Officers' Academy in Whompoa.
The 'q' in the modern Chinese romanization phonetic system is equivalent to 'ch', so Qin is Chin, Qing is Ching, Qian is Chian, not 'k' or 'qu' in English. I'm appalled that you don't seem to know this.
