The squatting on the toes was actually very common among Indian strongmen and wrestlers, I’ve seen it referred too as a “Hindu Squat” and I’ve personally gotten a lot out of it, you obviously can’t overload it as much as a regular back squat but the Hindu Squat allows for a deeper knee bend and engages the calf/foot/Achilles tendon more. Great exercise imo but def not a wholesale replacement for the back squat.

But he was huge everyone thought he was on steroids but he was in his mid 80s when he passed, but he said eating sleeping and staying away from drugs. My dad has some crazy stories of his Indian step-dad, one of them being how he picked a guy up by a single leg of a chair and threw him out of a bar, (he was the bouncer). I can't even pick up a chair by itself from 1 leg of it, so I can't imagine how he did it with a guy sitting in the chair. Another story being how he was angry one time and took an axe and threw it impossibly far, like it just kept going. Maybe the stories are exaggerated but he swears the guy was special. Said he didn't know a single person who could out run him, out bike him, there was nobody that could catch up to the guy.

Another point to note is that these guys (in the video) would have been top fitness athletes too. Not hulking monsters like today who are dying in their 40s and 50s and who struggle to walk up a single flight of stairs. These old school bodybuilders were the true epitome of health and longevity. He and his students performed various tricks to show their and his inhuman physical abilities like breaking bricks using palm, bending steel rods, etc...which are shown by martial artists nowadays. His daugter would hung her, balancing her whole body over an extremely sharp sword capable of chopping a huge pumking with a light slice. His son too was equal to him but unfortunately his son died of an accident. they came for a stage show, but somehow there was a fire breakout in the show. his son got trapped in the green room. Therefore BC Ghosh was able to attain the peak form of his physique by following Yogananda s technique of "Energizing your body through the will power". This technique helped them to rightly focus on one body part at a time. Imagine the mind to muscle connection but now multiply it by thousand fold. This output helped them become who they were. I actually was lucky enough to train in one such gym before machines took over.. The weights used were not tht much but these exercises were not tht comfortable.. The 10th exercise has sort of evolved though when I was going to this gym.. U don't do it on a bench but on a stool and both ur head and traps and squeezed shoulder blades are on the stool while the whole body is in a bridge position.. U don't do it with barbells either but use dumbells.. And u can also do dumbell flys in this position.. As for the 11th exercise, the old school body weight squats from India involves raising the the heel while squatting.. They do thousands of it before moving to weights actually.. So ur ligaments are strengthened and ur knees don't get tht much affected or thts wht I was told.. Obviously u can't do the same with heavy weights but then usually not many plates were there in these gyms.. No fan, no ac.. Torn carpets.. Open doors and windows.. Narrow wooden planks with no cushion whatsoever for benches.. Stools.. Indian clubs.. It was crazy.. 😂

@Pete Testube to b frank i dont know the name of the exercises which I did.. We usually started with stretching and jumping jacks.. Then there's something called sapate.. Which is kindoff burpees but the form is different.. Then the pushups.. So if pump oriented workout tht day then usual pushups with skull crushers using a bench.. If planning on working out longer then hindu pushups.. Then chest bicep back shoulder on a day.. And leg and bicep tricep and old equipment(sumtal, indian mace, neck ring sort of a thing for squat) on the other day.. For chest as I said earlier chest press with dumbell but not on floor or a bench.. Just a stool or end of the bench.. So ur upper back and neck and head is on the stool while bridging.. I think the benefit was ur push from the floor is better than when u do in bench.. Then dumbell flies.. Then flat, incline, decline bench press.. Then u take a plate and press it with both ur palms and press it in either flat or decline bench.. For bicep the usual.. But for tricep we used to do sum sort of extension.. U pick the dumbell and flex the dumbell but the dumbell doesn't faces the front.. Rather it touches ur sternum.. I hope u get the position.. And a control elbow extension with ur thumb side facing towards ur body.. Sort of an internal rotation.. Then the usual dips and other tricep dumbell exercises.. For shoulders we start with pike pushups and then the dumbells.. The aim was if we had less weight then we used to fatigue the muscle group before working tht out.. And of course.. Finish it off with an almond shake.. Sumthing called ragada I remember..no use of explaining the traditional instruments because even for me it's hard to access them.. 😅

I’m SE Asian but I want this to be an inspiration to my South Asian/desi brothers out there. No your genetics are no holding you back in getting the body you want. If you are skinny fat you can achieve this. Put in the work don’t make excuses.

Using genetics as an excuse is just fcking stupid. Most people in India are skinny fat because of a carb heavy vegetarian diet. Add more protein and start lifting.
