This is a key characteristic of One Piece. This progression goes on throughout the entire 1000+ chapters of the story. Super Eye Patch Wolf gives a good analysis of how One Piece gives the fans a Short Term/Long Term experience. The Short term is the satisfaction of how the Strawhats resolve a specific arc, while the long term gives the slow building progression of the major lore/plotline. It is what makes people who were originally wonder why anyone would follow 1000+ chapters become someone who can't get enough One Piece when they start the Journey. You can see this in a small scale when reactors stated "I don't want to follow the anime but I will watch the live action" only to see them go "I want more! I will watch the anime up to the live action ending" then to say "f*ck this! I am going beyond the live action!" as they go deeper into the rabbit hole. Very good analysis of what makes Eiichiro Oda be called GoDa by the fandom.
why do youtube only recommend me this video now?? this is such an amazing video, come on RU-vid make your algorithm work, more people need to see this!
She said that sanji just cooking and chilling while he also had a character arc, namely that he finally got a resolve to go follow his dream. Also, she cannot pronounce Luffy right, even tho she watched entire LA. It's not important, but it hurts my ears everytime i hear "laugh-y"
This is such an underated video. This not only helps with like writing stories, but if you're doing content on youtube, mastering this technique you could possibly get better viewer retention.
This is video is so underated, makes me appreciate the show even more ,I started reading the manga because of it ,and I can't wait to see how they adapt the story in the second season
In the anime, flashbacks are handled so beautifully. While in some shows, the watchers dread cutting to a flashback, in One Piece, watchers (and manga readers) very much want and waits for it eagerly ;))) Most of the time it gets soooo good that we even forget we were watching a flashback 😂 I think.... it's because Oda, the author, leaves a lot of mysteries yet undiscovered for literal hundred of episode/chapters and lots of breadcrumbs then he leaves the answers in flashbacks as to the 'why' and 'how'.
Loved this video! And, having just watched the LA Avatar TLA, I could say that is something Avatar lacked, therefore making the pacing very erratic and the unloading of information very random. Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷 :)
16:59 Yesss! I love this cuz it's true. And also because for the series, Oda made all 900 more characters be interconnected with other characters in one way or another.😁
Well... There were a couple of valleies, but without them we would not appreciate the peaks. And a One Piece valley is still much better than the peaks of most stories.
I don't think this person watched the anime version when she said Usopp wants to be a great navigator lol he wants to be the brave warrior of the sea. The anime has more humour and details, don't judge it because it's 1000+ long, and I prefer the anime over live action because it covers more manga details, plus the esspression each character gives are more livelier.
Thank you for your comment! but let's learn to walk (live action) before we start to run (anime) . However I know the anime also those an fantastic job with progression . Maybe we will explore that in another video ...
@@tomixshile9502 If you decide to take on the series, I suggest reading the manga and making a literary review/study (if watching the anime is not your thing). I would be interested in watching a study/analyzation on how Oda writes as I would like to be an author/comic creator like him. No pressure, just do it at your own pace if you do. (I took a lot on notes on how to write a story from your video. It's great help!)
