I disagree with the explanation. Because of the similarities in the creation of whole living being on earth, before the human appeared on the earth, the angel already sees the behavior of both animal and plans kingdom. There is whole lots of bloodshed in animal kingdom that clearly visible. If Allah conditions the earth with both animal kingdom and plans kingdom, before the coming of Adam and Eve as khalifah means ruler not earth. It’s is sure that human will also behave in the similar fashion as did by other animal kingdom even human are designed to worship Allah.
