The Korean Wave has slowly taken over our culture throughout the past few years. One social institution it has taken over is entertainment. We always hear Korean Songs in our radios and in the internet. We also have Korean movies and shows in our airwaves and in our streaming networks. Korean Acts have reached new heights in popularity. Different people have become increasingly notable in today’s culture, from actors and actresses to musical acts. Today, we Unfold and Understand how the Korean Wave started, and how it became the global success it has grown into.

Ang ganda ng research and pagka-explain. Agree sa lahat ng points. Pero I think mas maganda kung nag-end ang video in an aspiring note--like what we can learn from them. Deepes exploration din ng cultural differences ang magandang tingnan. Pero maganda ang video, magaling ang nagreseach at creative team.

Nice video! I just wish mas may context dun sa pag-intro ng Koreanovelas sa Philippines (like why did GMA acquire a Korean drama in the first place, why that show in particular), and also delved more into the other factors that made Pinoys aware of Korean culture more (like the impact of having more Korean nationals studying in the Philippines, the fact that cheap fares started popping up and have made it more accessible for Pinoys to see Korea, etc). 🙂 But overall, nice to have some historical context thru this vid!

“Saranghae” yung title starring Gryka Barrientos (cebuana), Choi Ji Wook (korean), and Jay Justiani (Cueshe’s lead vocalist lol).

Sandara (and 2NE1) really contributed a lot for filipinos to know and listen to kpop songs. Before, there were songs from SK that went viral in Ph but no one knows that those songs were kpop songs. It is through Sandara Park and her debut in 2NE1 that made filipinos know the word kpop as she was featured in different tv stations in PH.

The Hallyu wave is similar to Japan's soft power counterpart, anime.
@user-jd6rc2de9l
@user-jd6rc2de9l 3 года назад
However, Korea is truly a cultural superpower unlike Japan kasi the Korean wave consists of Korean entertainment, films, music, culture, products, food, traditions, and ideas. Japan is a regional cultural power pero it is far from Korea’s global influence kasi its soft power influence is mostly concentrated sa animes lang, unlike Korea. I think that Korea along with the US and UK are the world’s cultural powers. It is really amazing, how Korea manages to reach all throughout the world.
@cloudofreverie786
@cloudofreverie786 3 года назад
@@user-jd6rc2de9l Japan is number one in terms of producing cars, appliances, and tech, apart from Anime, jpop is also booming. The same with its pop culture and fashion with harajuku, etc. Japanese food was also already famous way before samgyupsal was in the country. Sure, Sokor's soft power is felt way more due to their entertainment industry but Japan's soft power still stands.
@ma.rosariocaliliw5100
@ma.rosariocaliliw5100 3 года назад
@@cloudofreverie786 not anymore according to statistics. Korea has a faster growing economy than Japan.The number one producer of cars is Germany. Japan is 2nd and Korea is 3rd. The leading technological exporters are Korea and the US. Korea leads semiconductors and future technologies. Korea is the largest shipbuilder and it is said that if Korea takes back all its ships, 45% of world trade would grind to a halt. Back to the topic. Yes, Japan and J-pop is popular too. But what we are talking about here is about being a cultural superpower. At our lectures about international relations and power relations for Sociology.The first modern cultural superpower to surface was the UK in the late 1800s. The second was the United States post WW2. And the third cultural superpower is Korea which started its rise as a cultural power following the end of the cold war. Being a cultural superpower means all aspects of culture permeates an area larger than its regional sphere. Japan has a regional influence in Asia with regards to its modern cultural influence. However, Korea is different and is a cultural superpower because it goes beyond Asia and aspects of its modern culture permeates the global market and the world way more than Japan. As a person that has been to Japan multiple times, you will see the influence of the Korean wave everywhere, mainstream fashion there is dictated by what is trending in Korea, advertisements of Korean celebrities are everywhere, and Korean music literally is played everywhere in Japan. Korea is the first and only Asian country to be considered a true cultural superpower. With Korean food, cinema, music, art, pop-culture, fashion, language, technology, and products, culture, and history known more around the world.

i just realize how ironic that hallyu can be traced during the 97-98 Global Financial Crisis during the time that we have a President that came from the Entertainment Industry. And until now, our govt happened tapped our Entertainment Industry. Sa dami ng gusto mag-artista, sa dami ng creatives natin, why aren't we investing on this.

Being in the fandom for so long, you get to see the real Korea and how the wave is being used for other benefits on their country. Additionally, their people power as a nation can be so inspiring that their identity is solidified by the wave.

I think your videos would be more efficient if you just used the same video but split the English and Tagalog versions into their own videos and upload both at the same time. (I actually don't know if you're speaking Tagalog but I assume haha) The reason is that the video is twice as long, and viewers who only speak one of the languages will end up not listening to half the video which will probably lower their focus.

Well its obvious how it did. The answer to the mystery it turned out it's the most obvious one, and it's the exact same explanation we knew for 2nd gen, they went to the Devil for popularity and to get rich in exchange for their souls, and the Devil put bunch of demons in them and demons move them around and force them to sing, and gave them the songs, choreo, etc., the shows etc. apparently, also! They all got a bunch of demons visible in their eyes! No wonder it's instantly popular for no apparent natural reason, cause it isn't natural, it's supernatural, but of the bad kind! All the people that made deals with the Devil for fame, wealth etc. are cancelled unless they get exorcised and the demons come out!
