Hi Ella, my daughter is 12 weeks old and she was diagnosed with PFV (I believe that’s what they call it now) at birth. I’ve just found your videos and they’ve been a huge comfort. I have some questions if you don’t mind me asking? 1: What were the operations you had? 2: How was school in regards to reading, writing etc - did you have additional help? 3: Was your other eye affected in any way? 4: How did they find and diagnose your PHPV? I hope you don’t mind me asking this. You’re an absolute inspiration and it’s so comforting to me to see a smart, beautiful and confident woman being open about this rare condition. Wishing you all the luck in the world with future treatment
Hello, I am so glad I can be of some comfort to you at this time. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. 1, the only operations I have had have technically been cosmetic. I have had 4 squint surgeries, 1 one I was about 7 and the rest in the last 3 years. 2, school was okay in that regard. I have dyslexia so I was always about 6 months behind the other children but I didn't get any help, mainly because my school neglected any child who demonstrated additional needs. 3, I have nearly perfect vision in my left eye 4, I was diagnosed at 6months I believe. They noticed a cataract and looked a lot at the back of my eye and tested to see how much light could get through. My main piece of advise is to trust your daughter. If the doctors say she can't do something or won't be able to do something, try! If she says something doesn't feel right, trust her. In all aspects its better to try and fail than to not try at all and never knew you could
