Cheers Debbie. Years of trial and error and sticking with what worked. Also they would hitting the tree trunks with very large objects (early piling techniques). I agree sometimes it's good to just appreciated how amazing human ingenuity has evolved over times.
I think they had pile drivers similar to ours, they had cranes and from crane to pile driver its not so far. Few hundred kilogram stone hammer on a rope and simple guide would do the job 100x faster than thousands workers with hammer. People back in the day were not do different that much they didnt like to do to much work.
Yup... an excellent example of why we need to stop freaking out about climate change. Just look at what the Netherlands has been able to do to keep nature in check. Humans adapt. So, maybe we don't ruin the worlds economies and make the poor suffer even more?
