How discipline help your Wing Chun Training
Discipline is an important virtue in the MWS. The system closely monitors and emphasizes it to ensure individuals can attain their maximum potential. For instance, trainees are required to wake up at 6 AM every day and begin their training promptly.
Additionally, failure to adhere to training schedules, completing assigned tasks, or demonstrating appropriate behavior can result in corrective action. By enforcing discipline in these ways, individuals can more successfully control their emotions, learn skills more quickly and consistently, and concentrate on building the other MWS characteristics. Furthermore, by adhering to stringent standards and exercising self-discipline, individuals can maintain conscious awareness and work towards their goals.
Accepting discipline can also help individuals create stronger connections with others as they learn to respect the system's boundaries and standards while treating others with empathy and compassion. It enables individuals to maintain their attention and dedication to their training despite their feelings, which is vital for their general success and happiness.

You’re definitely right Master Wong, only thing is after I fell into a dark state after the military, I find it hard to even be disciplined towards my Martial Arts practice. For now I’m trying to keep a consistent sadhana (Specifically Bhuta Shuddhi Kriya) and I hope I can release a lot of the damages I’ve done to myself so I can practice Martial Arts without such intense internal friction. I do appreciate you being here for us all, you’re one of my favorite Wing Chun masters. Keep it up. 🙏

It's understandable to struggle with discipline in martial arts practice, especially after going through a difficult time. Setting small achievable goals, celebrating progress, and seeking support from others can help build momentum and motivation. Martial arts can be a tool for healing and personal growth, and with a compassionate and patient approach, it's possible to find the motivation and focus to continue training.

Simple things like taking out the garbage, pulling weeds, etc are things I used to not do. I have formed a lot of discipline since then, and tai chi and your channel is benefitting me greatly. Creating a routine, not drinking soda all day, drinking water has really made me feel so much better. Your advice is actually life saving, because before , I was a wreck. Thank you master Wong you are the best master I have run into on RU-vid.

Thankfully we have Masters like this because it really is great to come up with ways to keep yourself busy and in shape. There is still much people have to learn about muscles and the body. For example: there is no way to look at a muscle that is open and know that it is tired. Tired is a feeling and I think that is what Master Wong is talking about.

Discipline is the ideal, but what works best for me is to train once I do have a little bit of motivation to get me started, on the hopes that down the line I can build the discipline to live like a warrior monk. This works for me, especially since I'm so jumbled in my thoughts and behavior, but I want the discipline to structure my day according to a plan and be intentional in my training. But I do not rely only on my motivation, but try to make a habit of being outside my comfort zone. Keep educating!

@Master Wong About getting people off the couch to train - if their art has a weapon system it's easy to practice that. There's no striking art that can't be made more effective if there's an associated weapon, and training with weapons every day may be a little useless in the UK, but it's fun and it gets me off the couch. Wing Chun has its knives, my style of tai chi has both staff and sword forms. (Wu). Nothing gets you off the couch faster than having fun. Hell, I tune in here because your videos are always fun. Discipline is Yang, enjoyment is Yin.
@masterwong101

Training should be both disciplined and enjoyable - that's my philosophy, too! 🥋 Embrace the Yin-Yang balance. In Wing Chun, my system, we value 'Discipline' and 'Enjoyment' virtues. Situational awareness matters - quick evaluation saves! ⏳ This summer, join the Wing Chun Mastery program for self-improvement. 🔥 It's designed to get you off the couch, enhancing your striking skills with my personalized approach. Discipline can lead to greater freedom and fulfillment in life, it's also important to balance it with pursuing our passions and interests. While being controlled by our emotions and desires can lead to negative consequences, allowing ourselves to pursue what brings us joy and meaning can also enhance our lives. Therefore, rather than viewing discipline and passion as opposing forces, we should aim to cultivate both in a balanced and harmonious way.
@sargeb.cuttin6512
@sargeb.cuttin6512 Год назад
@@masterwong101 Sir, do you believe that people only think of balance as being 50/50? I think this is where we misunderstand sometimes. Balance can be 80/20, 70/30 or whatever allows one to be at they're best. With regards to yin/yang, I have read being in a state of yin/cool 80% of the time, and tapping into the yang/fire for 20% when you need to, and returning to cool is ideal for living. The world is at 80/90% yang and fire with technology, innovation, and advancement, but to what end with very little yin?

I would still assume people get physicals through jobs to know themselves better before they embark on any martial arts journey. I keep looking at how people get injured for doing circuit training. There are too many variables, genetics, hydration, and mental awareness just to name a few that could keep people from achieving desired effects of Wing Chun. I am a student of Wing Chun.

If one has a goal, they will do absolutely anything to achieve it. Discipline is the requirement to achieve any goal. Many are scared of this truth. Or lazy.
@masterwong101
@masterwong101 Год назад
While having a goal can certainly motivate someone to take action, it's not necessarily true that they will do absolutely anything to achieve it. People have different priorities and values, and they may be unwilling to compromise them in pursuit of a particular goal.
