Disney is like that one Golden child who has the most potential and is incredibly talented but wasted all that talent on incredibly useless stuff that lead to nowhere

My favorite comment I saw somewhere about Disney is: "Evil doesn't know how to be creative. They can only take something that exists and twist it."

Disney: *has talent and proves it can innovate* Disney: doesn’t use that and just hopes it can make millions on the same thing

The sad thing is there are a lot of talented people at Disney that are not getting the chance to shine

Disney went from a golden standard in terms of creativity to a basis for rock bottom It's impressive, how deep they've managed to dig for rock bottom to get that low

Disney as a company is bad. But I feel for the creative teams. From what I've heard, they often get forced into something less creative because of upper management.

I still remember studying about Walt Disney. Who started everything. He was a visionary, intelligent and kind hearted soul who wanted to entertain families. He’d be truly ashamed of his company if he saw where they were at now.

Even though I still love the classic era of Disney, the company shot themselves in the foot with their modern monopoly/catalog. And honestly, I can't say it's undeserved. They did this to themselves. Ever since the acquisition of Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm etc, they went from being innovative to just acquiring properties for no reason at all. And it's their fault for ruining other pieces of media such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and more. Well said Doktor Skipper.

Disney once was the company that set the standard of what defines "creativity","innovation","passion",and how to utilise these traits to their fullest. Now,they are the perfect example of how something great can be ruined,if it loses sight of its true mission. And it fucking sucks.

At this point, I expect Disney stuff to be mid at best, so I can be pleasantly surprised when creators who actually give a shit slip through the cracks, like when they make the occasional Andor

This is what Disney always does. 20s-30s era Disney was literal wizardry where they catapulted animation to heights never before seen. Then in the 40s they made racist and God awful slop "Song of the South" "Briar Rabbit and the Tar Baby". Course corrected in the 50s to the 60's making the best movies and animation of their brand solidifying their legacy forever "Lady and the Tramp" "Cinderella" "Alice in Wonderland" "The Jungle Book" - then dumped out in the 70s to the late 80's with forgettable trash like "The Cat From Outer Space" and "Robin Hood". They got the magic back at the tale end of the 80s and early to late 90s releasing some of their most iconic work "Lion King" "Aladdin" "Beauty and the Beast" and then took a nosedive during the 00's with crap like "Home on the Range" and "Chicken Little". Until they came back by literally buying up all the current talent and are now back in the dumps again. They'll come back out of it eventually, none of this is new. Its just how Disney operates.

The saddest thing about our world now, it's when a company like disney fails, it doesn't create other new creative company from the leftovers of the company. it's just goes to be consolidate into another bigger soulless company/corpo. This cycle of consolidation is killing ideas, the creation of new companies and creating monopolies.

As unimaginative as it might be, I think Lucasfilm should just do another trilogy following a recasted Han, Luke and Leia after the original trilogy. Just act like the sequels didn't happen and adapt the things that happened in the books with some new stuff added Knowing Disney though, they'd just ruin that too so all hope's lost

I wouldn’t say Star Wars had cobwebs after the prequels. The Clone Wars managed to keep the hype train going for several of us. It had a rocky start but grew with its audience.

I actually like Shang-Chi. It was a breath of fresh as the MCU’s first foray into the martial arts genre. The characters are also great.

While I don't think that selling Disney to apple would be that grand of an idea, considering how big apples sway in entertainment already is, but Disney for sure needs to sell some of their properties. Marvel and Lucasfilms have the ability to stay on their own feet due to their insane influence and brand recognition and Disney could for sure keep merchandise rights. Pixar would probably be better off actually being bought by apple as apple has the money to let them do whatever Pixar wants and are actually quite laid back when it comes to Apple TV+ (they don't have much but quality wise it is most definitely the most consistently good streaming service). Disney used to be the embodiment of animation, they quite literally produced magic, now they don't even care for it anymore. If you tell someone from 15 years ago that neither Disney nor Pixar manages to keep up with DreamWorks and Sony Animation they would bully you for being a moron.

I’m glad you brought up the homie Walt. Movies and entertainment used to be lead by creative people like George Lucas and Walt Disney. Now all the studio heads are so worried about breaking the box office and doing it multiple times a year. Walt never wanted his movies to be remade cause he didn’t want his stories to be changed. Lucas had an idea for a continuation to finalize his story. And Disney said nah bro I’m good off that. Now we’re getting a Snow White without the 7 dwarves and another Star Wars movie starring Rey. Seeing James Gunn be the studio head as a creative mind is kind of refreshing. Time will tell if it’ll work out but it’s at least out of the norm. We also have a creatively driven Batman trilogy with Matt reeves. Animation is pushing new bounds with spider verse at the forefront. And movies like openheimer beating out the usual blockbusters. People want creativity and great storytelling paired with stunning visuals and breathtaking music. Disney is supposed to represent imagination. Sadly, they lost touch a long time ago
