The country healed and moved on, but now we are all at home with nothing but our problems to deal with, and the true face of America is showing up with no makeup on!! I disagree strongly. This line of argument is the line we have heard since 2008 and has anything improved? I'd argue no. Divisiveness and hate have increased. To perpetuate the myth that we aren't in an era unequaled in terms of opportunity for individuals of all persuasions is not fair. I'd argue that your argument unfairly diverts a tragedy into a racial war narrative, perpetuated by the media, race-baiting opportunists, and anarchists that thrive on the breakdown of institutional structures and influence. The African-american community has an over-representation in sports and entertainment. It has an over-sized impact on cultural influence today. Are there injustices? Yes. Are there societal imperfections? Yes. Do we need to the police? YES. Do we need to hold the police accountable and the justice system accountable? Yes. This does not justify rioting and looting. That said, minority groups are very capable. There are lots of successful minority people in the U.S and there are a lot of tragedies in the U.S. I'd argue that groups that profit from anger, divisiveness, outrage, and instability are taking advantage of this situation, groups including the click-bait media and the social justice activist groups.

Since WW2 (and arguably before, during the final days of colonialism) we have acted as an empire, and though at times we have done good, the arrogance with which we act combined with our dismissiveness of other countries and cultures, has created a very different america than many of the founders wanted. As far as racism, it has been a part of our country since the first slave was brought across the Atlantic. A nation that was founded and built on slavery and cries freedom must first set its house in order. We have not. We answered the ending of slavery with Jim Crow Laws that ingrained racism into our legal system. There are many americans that dont want to tell everyone what to do. We are also a group of people who need help sometimes. I hope the world remembers how often Americans send help when problems arise. For all the chaos and bravado, we have a soft underbelly that really does want to make the world better.

American politics is very divisive. Both the left wing (Democrats) and Right Wing (Republican) are part of the problem. It’s not just a one sided thing/problem. Political tribal ideology is also another big part of the problem on the reason why there is such a huge political polarization/division. These divisive political tactics lead to sexist, racist, intolerant and close minded behaviors. Men’s rights activists, feminists, Mgtow, Radical right wingers and so on are part of the problem that leads to division and hatred. The answer to this problem is no big mystery. LBJ's Great Society reforms were a direct response to the violent protests in Detroit and Watts being devastated in a way that is hard to imagine today. It sucks, but the establishment will not listen unless they see billion of dollars on losses for the insurance industry at risk. Black people have learned mass violent protest is the only voice they have that will be listened to... and I have been to multiple large protests where undercover police have been caught in the act just before throwing projectiles to give riot police an excuse to bust heads. Agents provocateurs are widely used, it's no myth. Great Society reforms designed to overcome structural inequalities were working, but unfortunately, Reagan et al. And policing in the US needs to be pulled out root and stem, with a new focus on de-escalation training over paramilitary tactics, community policing vs. seeing the people they work for as an enemy to be conquered and vanquished... and ffs, make police unions donating huge amounts to the campaigns of DAs illegal NOW!

I moved to Central America several years ago, a developing country, and enjoy greater freedom, prosperity and health; than I did in America. I spent 21 years in the military defending America's interests, only to be seen as a threat and inhuman, based on my skin color!
