Billionaires (usually) don't sell valuable stock. So how do they afford the daily expenses of life, whether it's a new pleasure boat or a social media company? They borrow against their stock. This revolving door of credit allows them to buy what they want without incurring a capital gains tax.

What about the interest? You pay the loan back plus interest.

But if you calculate it at the end, you’ll be paying more than 25% in interest when you’re done making your payments on the loan isn’t that equal?

No way

The lenders will make some money from interest, but you are overestimating the interest rate. This isn't like borrowing money from a bank. It's collateralized borrowing where the interest rate is significantly low as long as the asset you are borrowing against doesn't drop below a certain market value. It will take decades before the total compounded interest exceeds the 25% tax. As long as the stock goes up in value, the borrower can sell less shares in the future to pay back the loan compared to today. But a lot of wealthy borrowers won't do this. Why? It's because of the "buy, borrow, and die" concept. You can pass on the assets that you borrow against to someone in your family, who can then sidestep capital gains tax liabilities upon inheritance.

Ur not wrong. Hence the reason why u wanna always buy assets if u borrow money (houses, business etc.) not on cars, clothes etc. the appreciation in value of the asset should make it worth it all the time

@@miiiiikeee but... when they sell the shares to pay off the loan, dont they need to pay tax on the shares they sold?

Given the persisting global economic crisis, it's essential for individuals to focus on diversifying their income streams independent of governmental reliance. This involves exploring options such as stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies. Despite the adversity in the economy, now is an opportune moment to contemplate these investment avenues.

I do not disagree, there are strategies that could be put in place for solid gains regardless of economy or market condition, but such executions are usually carried out by investment experts or advisors I speak from experience.

True, I’m quite lucky exposed to personal finance at early age, started full time job 19, purchased first home 28, got laid-off work at 36 amid covid-outbreak, and at once consulted a well-qualified advisor to stay afloat. Thankfully, my portfolio has maintained steady growth ever since, amassing nearly $1m after subsequent investments to date.

Finding financial advisors like Monica Lisa Payne who can assist you shape your portfolio would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.

If he has no income, how does he pay the loan back?
@JaredValenzuelaJV
@JaredValenzuelaJV 3 месяца назад
So you borrow collateralized debt and spend like cash tax free (for now…) Eventually you gotta pay off your debt don’t you? Where does that money come from? Won’t that money be taxed?
@julianhooks477

They literally do this until they die.
@miiiiikeee
@miiiiikeee 3 месяца назад
Pay back the loan after you die. The stocks that are borrowed against will have their cost basis adjusted to their current value on the day that you die, and whoever inherits the stock can basically sell it for zero tax to pay back the lender.

How do they pay back that loan without having income? I know and understand that billionaires don't "own" anything. However I'm still struggling in understanding how they can pay off the debt they use to purchase things and assets. Do they just change the income amount their company pays them?
@raypadilla5349

They buy assets with the loans. Things that make them money and pay for them selves.

@xKhanEdgex
@xKhanEdgex 3 месяца назад
exactly my thoughts, what money do you spend and get to pay the loan?
@rs45888
@rs45888 3 месяца назад
but what if you borrowed against shares 10 years ago and now the shares are worth 100 times more than what you borrowed??
@miiiiikeee
@miiiiikeee 3 месяца назад
Then you could sell less shares to pay back the loan if you wanted to, since they are worth more in terms of dollars.

That’s cool and all, but How do they PAY OFF the debt with no income? 😂 That’s the piece I never understood. Is it because their stocks rise so they use new debt to pay off the old debt and have spending money on top of what’s extra?

I think it really requires an American to appreciate this kind of savagery, there’s nothing humanizing or even humanly decent about it. To accumulate wealth in such a way that millions of other people have to suffer for it, It’s cruel, selfish and will ultimately lead to the destruction of society. For God sakes, your country is performing so poorly in comparison to other countries, you don’t even have healthcare or safety nets of any kind, people working two or three jobs to make ends meet and you’re talking about humanizing Multi billionaires choices.
