I think it's 10% of the workers saying that DEI training has a negative effect because - the other 90% feel pressured by today's loudest part of society, to either support DEI or be quiet about it.

just the thought of 10% outright admits is very alarming seeing as the past similar projects alike never went up more than 4%
@WrestleJoy
@WrestleJoy 6 дней назад
That isn't true. The real effect of DEI training is a forced online class you have to take every few months that is boring. The reality of what actually happens is way more boring than what you made up in your head as a possible situation. DEI just doesn't do much for or against DEI. That's the problem with DEI.

@@WrestleJoy ? you do know we agree with you right, no one here wants DEI? where in our statements look like we endorse it, we go by merits over here, no one wants a charity case

"African American" isn't a nationality because "Africa America" isn't a nation. You're conflating heritage with nationality. If you're a U.S. citizen, you're AMERICAN, period.

I agree with you! But so often the word “American” implies white people. 😢

I think that DEI and DEI training probably varies greatly wherever you are. Some programs may actually help unify people, and some are divisive and harmful.
@WrestleJoy
@WrestleJoy 6 дней назад
The reality is almost all of them are boring, simple kids stuff about being kind to others, and a forced training that does very little. So you're wrong on both guesses, it doesn't unify, and isn't divisive. It's boring classes that have nothing to do with including other colleagues and cultures.

@@WrestleJoy Almost all of them? And you know this, how exactly? And I'm wrong? Maybe. I hope so.
@WrestleJoy
@WrestleJoy 5 дней назад
@@basicforge Because it's standard practice at tons of companies, and all of them use either solutions from other providers, or copy their solutions for an in house implementation. Because this is how the world works. I am only speaking within companies, but that's a huge part of it. No one is reinventing the wheel here.

Love this series. Although the focus is sociology, this really helps the students learn how to think critically. Something that too many people don't know how to do, period. Too many universities don't teach these skills.

In my company it was not needed at all. Places were diverse enough in thought. I didn't need to see more black people for the sake of being able to identify. There is one race. HUMAN! It is that simple. There are different cultures and colors of people. I'm here to do a job. When I walk into a room full of people of any color I'm good. I can hold my own because I'm there to work.

DEI brings up the topic of racism at a perfectly happy workplace which could do damage to the company culture. IMO, it causes division rather than inclusion.

Elaborate on how it causes division?

I get that it's hard to teach race and culture with so many races and cultures in America but why it DEI such a big thing ? Is it so hard for people to speak politely ? Do you need a specific way of speaking to speak to a black, hispanic etc ? You make it look way bigger than it really is (in US not you specifically but yeah I wanted to write my thoughts)
@basicforge
@basicforge 6 дней назад
Why is it hard for people to speak politely? Because many young people are told that it is their right and obligation to be angry and to consider 'the other side' to be bad people and enemies. Instead of being taught to be civil and to be able to talk about things, the next generation is polarized in a destructive way. We need to require debate as a school activity in all our public schools. People don't even know how to think. Understand, I am generalizing.

Research “struggle sessions” in Mao’s Chinese Cultural Revolution. We are all living through (or perpetrating) one big struggle session.
