From my understanding a Cantilever Bridge is much stronger at handling heavier loads then a suspension bridge. The trade off is its more expensive to maintain then a cable stayed bridge. If the purpose of the bridge is to handle road traffic then a suspension bridge would suffice..for rail traffic a Cantilever or Truss bridge is better.

I think you mean cheap (inexpensive). Cheep is the sound a bird makes.

It seems that the Forth Bridge needs a coat of rust proofing paint.

It's just been repainted with new technology corrosion resistant paint (Bright Red). Finished last year I think.

That's the sad truth about money making and progress human beings become expendable at the drop of a coin and simply replaced that's not to say that the bridge itself is a wonderful vision of what the mind can bring to reality ☮️
