With the first stable release of Go, Go 1, a compatibility promise was published. In this session, Russ Cox explains why the compatibility promise remains important today, what it does and doesn't mean, as well as the strategies Go uses to evolve continually without breaking your programs.

Can I ask why?

I would assume it is because of so many breaking changes. The for-loop variable scope is a nasty one, it will break a lot of places when they fix it.
