Hello, im not from your school but this has been informational. Thank you. I'm currently in my third year pursuing an accounting degree in the area. Is the worksheet limited to your students?
Not at all....feel free to download the form and then share with me as a google sheet according to the instructions. I generally can turn these around pretty quickly. Also, I do not charge anything for doing the evaluation...as what I do is meant to be a guide...the California Board of Accountancy makes the final determination. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1thr4DF_epf6Oh7Sowowx1WsukOQ-Dfla819lhWAnVuM/edit?usp=sharing
Thank you so much for a great session. I have a question: Will my CMA certification count as an education qualification? I am a foreign national with MBA & Bachelors in commerce in my home country. I obtained CMA recently and have 3+ years of experience in as an accountant in California. My education is only giving me around 140 points, 10 shy of 150 requirement. Can you give me some direction here?
The CMA will not count as an education qualification. However, the California Board of Accountancy ("CBA") will accept your degrees earned outside of the USA provided that these are translated by an agency approved by the CBA. If you have had your degrees translated and want me to assess your units against the CBA educational requirements, feel free to send me an email to ivc30tocpa@gmail.com. I will then reply back to you with a google sheet where you can list out all of your units. Once done, I will map out your units against the CBA educational requirements. Note that if you are a CA resident, the remaining units can be taken at California Community Colleges (about $46 per unit vs. more expensive options).
Hello - Your channel is truly a blessing for anyone seeking a CPA. Thank you for your channel and helpful content. I shared with you my courses to see if you can sort them out. I had a question though, I have a baccalaureate degree and a total of 129 semester units. Will I still need 150 semester units to apply for my CPA licensure even if I cover the 24 semester units in accounting and business-related subjects, 20 units of accounting study, and 10 units of ethics education?
Please be sure to send the courses to me by email via 1812cpa@gmail.com. Once I review your courses I will be able to assist. Do not believe I received your course listing yet. Generally, To sit for the exam, you need a bachelors’s degree and 24 accounting plus 24 business….if you have this you can sit in California and try to pass BEC prior to 12-31-23.
Hello Professor, what is your website? I have a BA in accounting and a MBA in finance. I have been in accounting for 12 years and need to get a CPA ASAP. Need as much assistance as possible to get started. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I’m in the Orange County area as well.
Hi, I'm about to finish my Bachelors in International Finance and Accounting in the Netherlands but I wanna move to california and become a CPA. Do I need to redo my bachelors in the US? Because we work with European Credits (ECTS).
David- You do not need to redo your bachelor's. Rather, if you are going to be licensed in California, you will need to get your degree translated by an agency that's approved by the CBA: www.dca.ca.gov/cba/applicants/foreign.pdf Once you get the degree translated, list out your courses using a format similar to a google sheet and then email me at either 1812cpa@gmail.com or ivc30tocpa@gmail.com and I can sort through your coursework. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1VBqEeI9S2WClFiJzDlVjl8EwHQG3S45BwP3RwYE2MEA/edit?usp=sharing All the best, Bennet
to meet the ed for LICENSURE, in addition to the below, you will need another 20 sem units of accounting study + 10 sem units of ethics studies. So the 78 = 24+24+20+10. If you want me to check your units please feel free to reach out to me at any of the email addresses in my videos or ivc30tocpa@gmail.com
Hello, I am a student of bachelor of management and my end goal is towards cpa can i eligible for cpa exam? and what educational requirements i have to meet for it?
Hello. Go to this link: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1VBqEeI9S2WClFiJzDlVjl8EwHQG3S45BwP3RwYE2MEA/edit?usp=sharing. Download the google sheet into an excel file. List out all of your courses that you have ever taken at the undergraduate or graduate level. Be sure to list out every course....not just classes that you think are relevant. If you took courses outside of the US, you will ultimately need to get the courses translated by an approved agency of the board of accountancy. Here is the one from California - www.dca.ca.gov/cba/applicants/foreign.pdf
Hello. Based on my limited research, California requires prospective licensees to have a SSN or ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number). www.dca.ca.gov/cba/applicants/initial-license-faqs.shtml#:~:text=Number%20(SSN)%3F-,Yes.,provide%20an%20SSN%20or%20ITIN. Will the CBA accept an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) in lieu of a United States Social Security Number (SSN)? Yes. Prior to issuance of a California CPA license, all applicants must provide either an SSN or ITIN. California Business and Professions Code section 30 prohibits the issuance a license if the applicant fails to disclose or is unable to provide an SSN or ITIN. Here is information about obtaining an ITIN: www.irs.gov/individuals/individual-taxpayer-identification-number Hope this helps!
Hello! I have a degree in Healthcare Leadership. Looking to change careers for accounting, could you help me sorting out the classes like you did in this video? My end goal would be to fit for a CPA exam. I am eligible to pursue a masters after I complete the prerequisites. I’m in TN
TN has very specific requirements to sit for the exam. To SIT you need 24 semester units of accounting and 24 semester units of business. I am guessing that your degree in Healthcare Leadership had some courses that were business related. These will more than likely count towards the 24 business units, however, you would want to check with the TN board of accountancy. Note of the 24 semester units of accounting to SIT - 18 have to be completed at the upper division level. Just remember that a master's degree in accounting is expensive. You may need to work an unpleasant job in order to pay back the debt with after-tax dollars. To become licensed you will need an additional 6 semester units of upper division accounting. A better course of action may be to just take upper division accounting courses at a four year school. However, most schools do not tend to have an online option for working students and will require you to be in person. Note that every state is different. California for example, you could take all of your courses at Irvine Valley College and then sit for the CPA exam and ultimately become licensed without the cost (or full-time demands) of a master's degree. Let me know if you have any other questions or if you need clarification. www.tn.gov/commerce/regboards/accountancy/license-applicant-resources/licensing-requirements-exams.html www.tn.gov/commerce/regboards/accountancy/license-applicant-resources/licensing-requirements-exams.html
@@accountingprofessor do you mind if I email you my transcript and the classes that I will need for pre-reqs for the MSA? I have been considering changing jobs to an organization that provides school assistance.
@@luceroalvarado35 Go to this sheet and then follow the instructions...will be for California ...not Tennessee docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1thr4DF_epf6Oh7Sowowx1WsukOQ-Dfla819lhWAnVuM/edit?usp=sharing
@@josebeltran6201 Thanks. As the course description has the "new management accounting" in the description, you should submit your application to the CBA and then wait to hear back from them. If they deny the course, I would then provide them with additional information to show that the course does contain accounting concepts. With regards to the classes that are being offered at Santa Rosa Junior College (I am assuming that this is where you were showing me the listing from), I do not believe that any of these courses will assist you in preparing for the CPA exam based on what you have already taken. For the CPA exam if you want to get a sense on what courses to take, please take a look at this video series: ru-vid.com/group/PLvcqTe3__mgmReVDwSeKVCvgM5GPkgIzr
