What is a Wellness Coach? Is a wellness coach different from a health coach? How do you get started as a wellness coach? Is there a wellness coach certification required? Today over half the population struggles with a chronic disease, but most of these are preventable and a wellness coach (or some would term health coach) can help! A qualified wellness coach is someone who helps individuals make positive behavior and life changes using an integrated, holistic approach to health and wellness. Many people think a wellness coach only works with people on food and fitness, but the reality is that a wellness coach helps people make positive changes across the full spectrum of life, from relationships to stress, life balance, financial fitness, sleep enhancement and of course food and fitness. Wellness coaches have grown in respect and demand since the initiation of the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) National Board Exam, which is run by the National Board for Medical Examiners (NBME).
