Increase the life of my wood base with some of these shed foundation ideas, in this video i show you my outdoor shed base preparation to help improve the lifespan of my shed.
A shed, man cave, summer house, decking, she shed ect ect are only really going to last as long as the base they are built on, and in many cases if it is not a concrete base it is likely going to be an outdoor wood base (timber framework). if the base fails then you may have to re build and it is difficult to re build a base without dismantling whatever is on top of the frame
so for me personally when it comes to my builds i like to try increase the life of a timber base so that in turn my shed or decking will hopefully last a lot longer, and once the top layer is down, may it be decking boards or sheet materials you cant really get to the framework again with ease. so i take the chance whilst it is all open to make any additional adjustments or treatments. The treatment needs to be ok to use on pressure treated wood. not all treatments are OK to use on pressure treated wood.
there are lots and lots of factors that will limit the life of a wooden base and to be honest most wooden structures that are outside, way to many to list here. so its important to do your research to do it correctly and plan a well designed build.
unfortunately these tips and methods i use will not outweigh, overcome or stop a poorly or badly built timber base/framework from going wrong. i use them as an addition to a well constructed frame that is built for the purpose of the job at hand and for the environment it is to be situated in. ever job or build is different and it is important to do your research for how to build a shed base or any wooden base right. the correct materials need to be used, and at the correct sizing to the correct constructional dimensions for the needs and specifications of the build. failing to do this will result in a poor build or even worse, always use a competent skilled tradesperson with the knowledge and skillset to complete the job correctly if you are unsure in any way at all on how to do it yourself.
