Yes!!! And branch out from succulents to houseplants 🪴 (pun). I’m also an underwaterer and plastic pots work best with succulents especially with thin leaves or small leaves like Jadelet, when you upsize go to plastic 💛🪴💛
That's why I love succulents. All plants have a way to let you know they need water, but succulents tend to be a little dramatic about it. And tend to let you know when you're over water as well. Didn't take me too long to pick up on that signal as well 😅 (in my defense, I wasn't aware that my roommates were also watering my baby too)
OMG I just love you! You crack me up. I get excited when I see you have a new post. The funniest video is when you explain why we spend so much time in the plant section! How many times I have gone to the register and go back one more time to make sure!! 🤣🤣🤣
I watered my little cactus the other day, puffed up real nice with water and made a mental note to *leave* it till it’s used up all the water it’s stored. Yesterday I see my other plants looking a little dry and pick them all up to mass water in the tub including the cactus. Only when I’d drowned them all did I look down and realise I’d watered it again while already being puffy! So now I’m praying 🙏🏻 Praying for no rot and no symptoms of anything else brought on by over watering 😅
As long as it's only the next day and it has plenty of drainage holes, it should be fine as a one-time-thing - root rot takes way more, I'm pretty sure, and is caused by bacteria and I would be surprised if it can grow enough bacteria just based on being watered again 24 hours later since it seems like it takes weeks of being constantly wet from what I've seen online (I know this was ages ago, but in case anyone else is worried about the same when they see this) How did your plant end up going? Do you remember?
@@mockingjay478 Thank you so much for this response, I completely forgot about this 😂 My plant is totally fine and thriving! You’re right, 24hrs and then being left alone didn’t do a thing and that plant is the least of my worries haha
Really entertaining short videos with full of vibrancy Thank you ! How to tell when a dormant succulent needs water , coz its really a challenge, even if the soil dries up watering it causes the leaves to get mushy (despite a well draining soil).
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! My succulents have been wilting and I didn’t know why! I was worried I drowned them… the lady at the store told me to water once a week so I’ve been careful not to “overwater”. Well I just dumped water all over them after watching this!!! You’ve saved my bebes!
Watering once a week (especially if they aren't in the right soil like this one) is going to kill them 99.99% of the time. Most only need water once every few weeks, some can go a month or longer bc they store water it in there leaves.
You're very knowledgeable young lady. Some of the other plant people don't have a clue. I grew up in a garden center a bunch of it just rubs off by osmosis
Ugh! My succulent grew really big outside during the summer I bought it inside for winter and it got some type of white bugs on it and all of it died😞 So I put it outside change the soil and praying that start getting life again.
When they actually need a drink there's no such thing as to much water if you have a drainage hole. I put my succulents into a big bowl of water and pour some water on top of the soil too and leave them in the water for at least 15 mins. Sometimes they sit in the water for 2 hours if I forget about them! I've never had any problems and they grow nice and strong😊
Hi love watching your channel!!! AMAZING AND ENTERTAINING!!! Silly question of the day is.... does your tap water have chlorine? I've been using bottled water due to our water having chlorine and don't want to hurt my wee babes roots. Just curious. And keep up your posts and LOVE THEM!!! Enjoy your day!!!!
I’m afraid of watering because I killed my succulents one time with over watering. They got root rot. Now I’m extra careful with my new Echevaria I got. I let him be outside to get all the sun he needs and I havent watered so far. I know they can withstand drout.
I'm going to treat myself to a plant for my birthday. Any suggestions on beginner-friendly plants that are not toxic to cats? Need something that can handle draughts, not consistent sun and changes in temps haha.
Hey Krystal! I'm not sure if you saw my other comments but I had a question. We have 4 hibiscus trees that we bring in during the winter and every time sticky stuff gets everywhere and also little bugs. What is this and how do i stop/prevent it? Id really like to know your thoughts so i can fix them.
The key to watering your planets is thinking about the enviroment they're from. Suculents = dry, araid, desert where rain is sparse but heavy storms Tropical planets = like is MOooIisSt And that's literally all I know 😂 Love your channel!
Portucalia Afra aka Elephant Bush. This is not always a sign of needing water, also overwaterering does the same thing. Needs a higher grit concentration and I ALWAYS use distilled water. Letting the water drip through like that is a myth, it does not need that much. Just enough to wet the roots is plenty. Wish I had a camera and knowledge of computers, I want to create a channel for desert plants but am dumb af with technology to say the least lol
Let them dry out until they get wilty like the video showed, and then drown those hoes, let them drain and then don't water them again until they get wilty again... Good luck 🤞🌿
Probably over watering! The best advice you can get is from this short haha. Wait until they’re getting soft and squishy, maybe even wrinkled, then DROWN THAT HOE, and wait until they get soft and wrinkled again. That, and proper drainage…
I have a lemon tree air layer going on three years now. I planted cutting of portulacaria in the same pot. They get drown constantly lol kinda trying to see if I can kill them. They taste good.
Im wondering.. wouldn't it hurt the leaves to get wet? Obviously water will touch some leaves/the stem when you water like that. Wouldn't it rot and actually be bad for succulents to be watered from the top? I've read that often and because of this I always bottom water.
Girl!!! I had that same baby plant!!!!! I healed it from rot n fungus, 😀, n then another plant fell on top of her n broke all her little parts,😥 I couldn't reroot it, it died, her name was Lil Foresta. But then I found a much larger version of her ancestor... I love her! Dnt know if I should call her BigForesta 🤔
Hey Krystal I have a question isn't tap water bad for the soil in the long run? I heard that tap water contains chemicals unlike rain water that has nitrates ini it.
I have some Kalanchoe Leaves each in 2 inch terracotta pots, how often should I water them? I do it every 3 days but I feel like it's too often. I mean it feels dry though.
Is there a way to make pots drain? Like I have tried pretty much everything including adding more holes, making drainage holes bigger, and trickling water instead of just gushing it 🤷♀️
Or fill a storage/ large container a quarter of the way and let the plant sit in the water and soak up from the bottom until the soil is throughly moist
Hey love vids btw i just need some help plz for my bamboo plant (in water)cause it s leaves r like yellowing and I don't know what to do help plzzz i love my bamboo soo much
I've heard certain tap waters can kill then. My sister lives in a different city and has to use distilled water for her succulents, where as my own do just fine with this tap water
