I’m 29 years old and My dhea-s is at 563. All other tests came back normal like test and estrogen. Was on birth control and spironolactone 200mg(started on 50mg but got increased) daily and metformin and the dhea stayed the same. I gave up on taking pills everyday. Even had an mri done and everything was normal. What can help?
Hi I am 32 female 5.8, 133 pounds, normal menstrual cycle, hirituitism, acne and hair fall, my DHEAS levels came back 387, normal estrogen, testosterone, FSH, LH, my pelvic ultrasound was normal too, what could be the cause?
Could you help please. I have high Dhea-s levels, high TSH and testosterone but okay cortisol, estradiol and insuline. I do have Pcos and my symptoms are acne and fatigue. What can I do?
My lab results came back with high levels of DHEA and Cortisol Levels. My Test and Estrogen were normal. Any correlation with DHEA and cortisol and E.D
Hi Peter, yes high dhea-s and cortisol often do go together. High cortisol and anxiety can cause issue with erectile function. I made videos on both of these topics.
You want to think about the total body androgens not just adrenals. Lowering cortisol will lower adrenal androgens. I mentioned somethings in the videos. In addition you want to think about the total androgens so raising SHBG and lower DHT. I may do a separate video on this topic.
I have high DHEAS around 549. My estrogen, progesterone and testosterone were in normal range. Though I am around 199 i have a high composition of muscle to fat ratio for someone who barely exercises. I just started birth control and I have had drastic weight loss where it is mostly muscle. This is not a problem for me but when I get off birth control in the future whenever I'd like to start a family, how can I ensure the my DHEAS production lowers to a normal range? Also my cortisol is normal as well. Also may show signs for adrenal and inflammatory PCOS.
Please help. I am F35, with hirsutism, ovulation pain, weight gain and short luteal phases, but all normal adrenal and reproductive US scans. My 17 OH Progesterone is 33ng at latter follicular, but total testosterone, free T, and SHBG appear normal, DHEA-S in the 345-355 range this year, could I have the DHT problem you are talking about near the end of the video? What’s the therapy for that? Blood sugar regulation play a role too? Cortisol 3 hr postprandial is also normal. ACTH normal. Not estrogen dominant. Misdiagnosed with PCOS 4 years ago and my endocrinologist just wants to sell me more birth control or spiro which I don’t want because of SI/HI when on it in the past.
Hi, you are for Sure not alone! I had this too and I inherited it to both of my children which are teens now and suffer as i did. With age dheas will increase and virilisation such as hirsutism and hair loss will improve. I am sure we must have same sort of malfuntion of adrenal enzymes, similar to CAH !! For me, after I had to take cortisol for few month my dheas became normal for the first time of my life, and still is after 2 years. Mayba a very low dose of hydrocortisol 5mg or so could do the trick . It is such a depressing conditon, I was not able to live a normal social life with all these symptoms. Good luck to you!!
