Good word Brother Dave. You've encouraged me to ask "why" before "what" as I help volunteers understand their roll in the Kingdom. A little phrase I tell myself when apathy slithers in is "Everything with excellence all the time". Why; because I sense that God develops character in the details. There is nothing so small that it cannot be done for the glory of God. "Every work which he began in the service of the house of God in law and in commandment, seeking his God, he did with all his heart and prospered" - 2 Chronicles 31:21 May God continue to prosper your ministry and those who seek to lift Him higher!

Once you have them how do you determine who needs training, how much training they need, and how do you train them?

We're attempting to develop a mentor-ship program at, FBC Riverview, with task based modules that allow newbies to develop both a relational connection with our team, as well as, technically in their craft. We're not there yet; but, we'll get there. If you come up with something before we do, please share!

It really is different for different people and different positions. The main thing to keep in mind is it's a marathon, not a sprint. They're not all gonna be rock stars in their skills right away, but they certainly have the potential.
