How Do I Taste A Cigar? 

Been smoking cigars probably around 10 years. Never been able to get any flavors out of cigars like so many people do. I just know what cigars I like and the ones I don’t based on what I taste which must just be smoke and tobacco. I can tell when some are more spicy etc. but that’s it for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️ wish I could taste what everyone else does. Yes I do retrohale but most times all that does is burn my nose.

Best thing that helped me was to look at a flavor wheel while smoking a cigar. That would help me to identify some notes I was not sure of. And the first time I ever experienced an ah-ha moment was chocolate on the Perdomo 10th Maduro. Nice vid!

Another excellent video Eric! Honest and good information. My wife has a better palate than mine.

I prefer stuff that's had a dark cocao bitterness and espresso notes on some San Andrès Wrappers but every once in a while when I get that right Habano wrapper and I get some deep citrus notes man that is freakin killer. Took me a while to train my palate, but smoking cigars and drinking whiskey made me pay attention more to the foods I am eating. Now, I consume and indulge more purposely.

Gawd I wish i could taste some of the cigars that I buy. I can taste foods and beverages ....No problem. But the only two cigars that I could taste are the Drew Estates "Girls with no names" and Metallica's Blackened. Rocky Patel....nope, LFD....nope. Padron.....nope. La Gloria Cubana....nope. And many other....nope. Even when I retrohale....nope. My wife can taste every taste possible...from the very same stick that I have in my hand.
