I got a Quran from a very sweet Muslim lady during Ramadan. I was on break from classes & I was getting a sandwich from a mom & pop shop & I was casually talking to the lady at the register. She owned the shop with her husband & was telling me I made a good choice, but she couldn't eat it today. I mentioned how it must be difficult to work during Ramadan because you're smelling the food all day. She got SO excited that I knew about the holiday & handed me the book. She said to study it & if I have any questions to let her know. I unfortunately didn't see her after I finished at the school, but I still have the Quran. That was almost six years ago.

Fasting is not required for children or people who might have health issues for fasting. Us Muslims usually are festive about Ramadan because of all the extra blessings we can achieve from Allah, and also for the amazingly delicious Iftar (food we eat after we break our fast).♥️🤤🤤🤤

Well, it’s kind of like Christians celebrating Christmas; some might not but technically the logical answer should be everyone does! Also it’s not at all disrespectful! In the contrary, that’s a super nice thought and can make an amazing Ramadan starter ❤️Also I see what you mean when describing yourself as a white person in this context but I think it’s worth it to remind everyone that we have a LOT of white brothers and sisters (including Sana’s husband, he’s a white revert!) race doesn’t mean anything in Islam ☺️

What was impressive to me was being in the Baltic during Ramadan in high summer that year, when the sun barely sets - a very few hours. Some Muslims I knew had dispensation because of age, health condition or because they were travelling, a few set their clocks on Mecca time, etc. but most , working on a busy ship, refrained from drinking or eating anything, smoking if they were smokers, etc. for the ~20 hours of “daylight” we had every day. Because they wanted to. Most told me it increased their empathy for the poor and hungry, and of course they increased their various contributions to charity and the poor at that time. Respect.

As a teen I was invited to break the fast of Ramadan with a friends family. I’ll tell ya, I’ve never seen sober ppl go so hard lol It was a fun evening, much more so than I had imagined. I remember her grandfather telling me that back in his home country they would sometimes roast a camel WHOLE (stuffed with all sorts of things; rice, spices, etc) for big events and celebrations

I m a Hindu and we fast two times per month for a day. Its called ekadashi( meaning 11th day of the month) but it's not compulsory to do the fast. To those who can't,can have some fruits and stuff, but not rice items. But in my family me and my mom's side family everyone does it. We don't have anything for a day and next morning before 7am we have eat a sweet item and some rice item. We don't even drink water. I just wanted to share.

If I had to fast, when I could eat, I'd eat soooo much food. I am not in that religion though, but completely support muslims and you guys! You are both very kinda

It’s only intermittent fasting, which a lot of us do without a religious requirement. Try a water fast for 10 days… just for the experience. Let us know how you do. Also, eating before you go to sleep is not optimum for health. Better to stop eating around 5 pm so your body has a chance to heal while you sleep, rather than digest a large meal. Have a window of about 4 hours where you eat. This is the healthy way to fast.

I personally LOVE fasting😊 It's a way to relate to those with little to no food to eat I'm not an genius about fasting but I heard that when you're not fasting, you will have to pay a tax used to help the poor, quite sweet Mom says that the amount of money you get from raya is determined by how many days you fast (not sure if that's true or just a way my mom got me to fast at my fullest😂) And this is rather easy for me as I will never eat unless I'm offered😅
