How Do Planes Fly and How Is Lift Created?

Actually, I'm pretty sure planes just fly through magic and everything I said here was a lie. Maybe not, who's to say? I guess I did say in this video. "Lift is created through the mutual sustaining of flow down-turning and the pressure field generated around it from the movement of air" - sure sure, a likely story.
That being said, let me know what you thought of the video. It's definitely not the easiest topic to grasp, understanding aerodynamics and fluid flows is notoriously tricky, but hopefully this helps. There's a lot of stuff more about the math and applications that I decided to omit in this video and just focus on the concepts, so hopefully everything came across clear.
Miscellaneous Bits is a channel in which I post miscellaneous bits about things that interest me, probably mostly about engineering, space, or aviation, but I reserve the right to discuss underwater basket weaving if I want to. Sometimes I may just talk about things and sometimes I may make things. Please take a subscription under advisement if it would be pleasing to you.

Challenge of a basic qualitative description of lift, I was thinking maybe?: Lift is simply: 1)asymmetry (of a solid medium) 2)turning the air (a fluid medium) if only a bit more detail: 3)from a competition-for-space caused pressure response 4)which accelerates the air mass sufficiently to prevent mass flow disruption. (Conservation of mass, momentum and energy, are the ground rules for how this expediting pressure profile develops around the airfoil.)

Very good and entertaining video (with some of my favourite planes too, bonus), and I think it does a pretty good job at explaining a complex concept.

I once came in second place at a grade 8 science fair. I would have come in first if i had mentioned Bernoulli in my project. My project would have come in first otherwise. It would have been a big deal for me. Now i hate Bernoulli, and always suspected his singular explanation of lift was balls. Where is my ribbon eh?

To provide an intuitive explanation and illustration of lift is a real challenge. Thanks for making the effort! I wanted to make a very similar video, but even with your reservations you are far more qualified than me. Instead of a spoon I use the curved lid from a sardine can. It looks more like the curved surface of a wing. With the stream of water placed between the edge of the sink and lid, the "lift" created is dramatic, slamming it against the sink and sticking there with some force. Good video and illustrations!
