Idk about the facial hair but given that a period could leave a tribute in a lot of pain and unable to fight with a lot of loss of blood, it could be seen as unfair and thus give no hope to those parents of the girls, who could intern revolt
I have to agree with Kimber and Banjo there. If anything, I think they likely block periods because, much like in modern TV programs, actors and therefore the characters they play are supposed to be presented as physically flawless or attractive at all times, and this is especially true with women and girls on TV. I'm sure the Capital would also want to present these tributes as attractive to the viewers and sponsors as much as possible. Watching someone bleed because they were stabbed in a gruesome fight is "sexy." Watching them bleed menstrual blood is not.
I don't think it evens the playing field just for girls, because growing facial hair (having to worry about shaving) or just growing in general (which boys do at an accelerated rate compared to girls) can get in the way of competing for the male tributes. The hormone blockers could stop them from getting erections as well, which is another impairing factor. Oh, and men on average burn more calories that women which is a HUGE disadvantage when there is no food. The Hunger Games isn't about fighting, its about survival which is already an equalizer because surviving depends more on skill rather than upper body strength (although girls do have higher pain tolerance). The hormone blockers are more about maintaining the appearance of youth.
I'm pretty sure the trackers are removed once, since Katniss, Peeta, Annie, Finnick and other victors have children. I would say they are removed when the victor is in the hovercraft just after they win. A lot of times a team of doctors is keeping them alive then and it would be no big deal for the doctors to remove it then. Idk just thinking...
This makes sense and I agree but in Katniss’ case, Johanna roped out her tracker during the games. But I still think they would have removed them since Annie and Finick had a kid
I think that the hormone therapy just stops working after a certain amount of time, like it just runs out? Maybe the actual tracker disolves after some time or something similar as well. Either way I think it has a timer as the game makers don’t want the games to go on for literal months.
I feel like they definitely stop younger tributes from starting their period as well as preventing it for the older ones, plus this levels the playing field between genders and makes less fuss over distributing sanitary products x
Even if this is a disgusting idea. Couldn’t the tributes if the trackers did nothing about hormones or periods, use there period blood to trick other tributes into thinking they are about to die and possibly leave them to die their.
@@cloewilliamson2999 possibly but then the capital would see it as rebellion or making a mockery of them and their family would most likely be killed off or something
I actually think the hormone stopper is just so the hormones wouldn't intervene with the game. They don't want a tribute to stay put from period cramps. And maybe for the boys- they don't want them to be able to have wet dreams or such. Its the hunger games- Not a strip club.
@YonGG I think their strategies are pretty valid. Running away from the Cornucopia worked pretty well for both Katniss and Peeta in the first book, and many of their other ideas to increase your odds of survival are very smart and fit really well with the books’ canon.
lottie b the games only lasted for 2 weeks, so there’s a chance she wasn’t due for one during the games, and/or the malnutrition may have affected her fertility, so her period may not be on a healthy schedule. But chances are, hormones in the trackers possibly affected her period.
@@Mystix_x Maybe not. It would make no difference to the blood rain ones (that is basically how I think of Johanna, Wiress and Beetee up till the time they meet Katniss, Peeta and Finnick) until they were meant to meet them. So Katniss would probably rescue Peeta after he was stuck cuz he couldn’t swim, and they would escape. They wouldn’t know the nuts Mags showed them were edible, but they could survive some time without food. Katniss could still shoot the rat thingy and they would have meat though later on.She would also still receive the spile so they would still have water. Peeta might have died when he hit the force field BUT Katniss might have also noticed the chink in the armour before because she was’t preoccupied about whether or not to trust Finnick. So when they were in the acid fog, Katniss still couldn’t lift Peeta BUT they would have a few extra seconds head start because it would be two less people for her to wake up. Plus he might not need help since his heart hadn’t stopped previously. I reckon they would still survive it. Maybe they would die from the monkeys, but they might not be in that situation in the first place because Katniss only stayed behind to wait for Finnick, which meant Peeta was in the jungle alone. If they went to get water together, Katniss’s hunting senses would have told her something was wrong and they would’ve left. I will try to comment what would happen next another time.
Theory. Story Diver is from the capital. The lipstick. The hair. The accent. The extreme knowledge about the games. She came too the past through time travel to tell Suzanne Collins to write the books because she hates the games and doesn't want us to suffer the same future that she did.
This probably might sound a bit weird, but I’ve always wondered how the tributes go to the toilet while being in the games and being filmed 24/7? Just an idea
I do think the trackers are removed, because some of the Victors have kids, like Cecilia from District 8. In the book, they mention that she had 3 kids.
I think it’s also worth noting that if someone grows a beard in the area they might not be able to be recognised by sponsors as easily. So it’s partly a practical thing, as well as to keep the tributes looking young. Love your videos!
Thank the lord for this video. I read all of the books in 4th grade & again in 7th grade. I was also obsessed with the movies. I always wondered about this stuff
If the males are on hormone inhibitors wouldn't they be less strong and therefore at a disadvantage? Especially Thresh who Katniss notes seems as if he actually gained muscles in the Games. Perhaps the females do because of their periods or lack thereof but I'm not sure about the men because of how important testosterone is to male physical and mental health. As Story Diver pointed out in the video, perhaps it is only the hormones that would make the tributes look less grown. But even if the males were given DHT (the hormone that more or less controls hair growth in grown males) inhibitor, I still think the effects of testosterone on almost all males (ie defined jawline, muscle growth and definition, etc.) would make them stand out as more grown that facial hair alone.
I agree that they probably don't block all hormones, they pinpoint certain ones. I also feel like not only does facial hair age the tributes, but capital citizens probably wouldn't want to watch a guy shaving anyway so it just makes more sense to block hormones for more air time. Same goes for girls and periods.
Id have never thought of them using hormone blockers, but that makes so much sense!... Thats why i love this channel so much youre so good at theories😱
I think the tracker tracking their heart rate can also help with knowing which tributes to watch. If their heart rate is raised, they're likely either scared/nervous or physically exerting themselves in some way, which is more exciting to watch than, say, someone sleeping.
Awesome video! A cool idea for a video would be how the Arenas actually work eg: weather is created, controlling the different elements, earthquakes, terraforming, construction, mapping, force fields, mutts, launch rooms, underground catacombs, life support systems for tributes (oxygen in the arena) etc.
I figured hormone therapy was use in the tracker, thank you for making this video! Within most dystopian movies/films I am always wondering what they do in terms of growing hair (facial, underarm, etc) and periods just because that's how my brain works. It's nice at there can be in universe explanation for this even though it's not directly explained in the books or movies
I loveeeee your videos! You always have such smart theories! Your amazing!!! I also was wondering if you could maybe do a video on how in the book the mutts are the tributes what do they do with the mutts after the games/ how are they made? -your like biggest fan ever!!!!!!
In The ballad we can see that the viewers don't know we're the tributes are. When they get out of the original arena and go to the tunnels they become invisible, they can't receive any goods from mentors, and no cameras film them. I think trackers are also used for that. To have an eye on the tribute's location, to send goods and for the camera.
I got a idea for a Vid! What happens when there's not enough tributes for a district like D13 had a massive chicken pocks problem that killed all it's kids what if that happend to a another District, What would they do?
I think trackers change how the tribute eats; like how long they get hungry or thirsty. Also, Katniss sleeps in one of the scenes when Cesar and his friend are talking and a clock says 8 hours, and the same with 14 hours. I think it changes how they sleep, too. Because it doesn’t make sense if it’s live, and you’re watching it over 24 hours. Maybe the time is changed in the arena, and then the tracker makes them tired?? idk i hope you understand my theory!
My mom literally asked me the same question when we were watching the hunger games!! I think she asked, how to the girls manage if they get got their period, and I had to go through what was in this video 😂. It weird explaining male/female hormone blockers to an adult....
I think a part of the hormone blocking also has another big factor. It keeps the tributes looking mostly the same and also allows them to keep focusing on killing. No stopping to put in a tampon or to shave.
I have the rod you were talking about. The tracker is in the fore arm which the rod doesnt go. The rod really works near the shoulder. The rod doesnt exactly stop periods it can make them even worse as it works different on everyone. For me I get periods for a full month so there is a chance it could hurt a girl very badly
Theres just one question i want answered: hOw did Katniss know that her Arrow in catching fire which she shot at the forcefield wouldn’t rebound and hit them like peeta hitting the forcefield with his machette
Gosh, that looks painful! :O Amazing theory though, as a girl I've wondered how Katniss never mentions having a period... I thought that trackers are removed after the games by some surgical procedure, Katniss said at the end of the first book that they had to - you know - make her and Peeta look good for the cameras. They also fixed her ear and Petta's leg (somthing that is never mentioned in movies), so I assumed that their trackers were removed then.
I think the capitol would keep it in but take away a certain hormone so the victors could have kids but keep it in ,so that the capitol could make sure the victors weren’t doing something wrong like katniss leaving 12 for hunting
The tracker could actually dissolve within a certain period of time, our bodies dissolve things or kill things that are inserted into it. But they don't always do that with things like the rod. I think they may dissolve on their own or when the tribute dies
Hi Jess, do you think District 3 helps a lot with the trackers/arenas/mutts? Also when do you think Districts 1 and 2 officially formed their "career alliance" in the Games?
Interesting thought about making the tributes look younger. When you mentioned hormone blocker, I assumed it was for the optics of filming. The pampered Capital audience don’t want to see their favorite tributes fashioning a tampon out of moss or growing uneven stubble
Remember, a period typically comes once every 28 days and lasts 3-7 days. The Hunger Games usually last 1-2 weeks. Katniss or any of the girls not getting their period would only be of any significance if they knew they were supposed to get their period during the dates of the games.
Most videos are planned weeks or months in advance, and I don't do all ideas, as sometimes there just isn't a theory there. In this case, I'll look into it, but there's no guarantee a video will come out
As always, another brilliant and logical theory! P.S I love your videos and think they are AMAZING! Story Diver could you possibly do a video on what you think Peeta and Katniss's life is like after the war?
Do you think the trackers could actually allow the game makes you insert a mood into the tribute, because in panem they have crazy technology so I think the game makers could give the tribute a certain mood to make the games more entertaining, like flirtatiousness between two tribute, bloodthirsty anger to get more action, sadness to create a heartwarming moment
I totally agree with this theory since I’m catching fire they did get another tracker inserted in them; and there would be no use if the tracker was still inside from the other hunger games.
I don't know about periods, I suppose it's to give everyone the same physical chance, and periods is a disadvantage that isn't to do with the tributes abilities. It could also be that periods are a pretty taboo topic generally speaking, and not really thought of or mentioned much in books or film, even in works like the Hunger Games.
maybe the trackers are also explosives so when the tributes do something they shouldn’t, like break the force field, or escape the arena they just explode
Yea I’m pretty sure that’s right, cause in some games you have to get to the cornucopia/a place known to everyone, in around 3-5 mins or the tracker will EXPLODE
So their Tracker is kind of like my Dexcom it alerts me if I have a high blood sugar or low blood sugar so either I or my doctor can make adjustments to my insulin regimen
Hey there! Whatever you're going through, even if you aren't ok now, you will be ok one day. Nothing in life is permanent, this too shall pass. If you need to talk, reach out to me in my Twitter or Insta DMs. I was where you are, and I can assure you, you are stronger than this, and you will get through this, and you will achieve greatness 💛
I would like to think that the trackers can detonate if the game makers think the tribute did something VERY wrong in the arena like eat another tribute's dead body or rape another tribute, because it's probably very deep in your arm, if it explodes you'll most likely die of blood loss
I agree with what you said about the hormones and what some previous comments have said. When the tracker is inserted (which looks as painful as Katniss says it is in the books) you can see the little light on the tracker move up the arm so I wondered if you even could remove it if the tracker moved about in your body? Just a theory...
This is my own topic that I want to talk about. It is mentioned many times in the book that many families in the districts had starved to death as they were so poor but if that was the case, how would they be able to afford their houses. Better yet, Are there homeless people in the districts? There is a chance that the capital would give the families houses so they would be able to survive for the hunger games but if that were the case, why would they let potential contestants starve to death. It is a topic I can’t wrap my head around but I hope someone can solve this.
I feel that if the trackers are removed, they are like you said squeezed out or maybe cut out just not like how Johanna did. If they rants taken out, I suspect that tracker would eventually stop working or they just deactivate the tracker
Love your videos, I'm not sure if you're done this yet but could do you a video based on if peeta had been rescued by district 13 at the end of catching fire and Katniss had been captured, how that would have affected the story
I actually came up with a non cannon character from district 4 who had their arm with their tracker cut off and was able to win by allowing another tribute and the capital to think that they won and then killing them.
