An inside glimpse into how we fly with our harps! We are asked a lot of questions about how we travel with harps. We prefer to drive whenever possible because that is the safest and easiest for our instruments and equipment. However, we occasionally have to fly. We filmed this video on our trip to Colombia, South America. And yes, we have to pay for the seats for our harps. We hope you enjoy a little glimpse into our travels!

Well, obviously you have to fly with the harps, because you're a pair of angels. :-)

I was the ramp crew chief for an airline in the Rocky Mountain West. One day I caught one of my crewmembers playing a passengers baggage checked guitars in the baggage make up room where luggage was loaded into the baggage carts to go to the aircraft. Boy did I rip him a new one. You are wise to buy the extra seats for your harps!

How fascinating Ladies, thank you for the insight. I hadn't realized the trials and tribulations of transporting your trusty Harps through the air before. There's certainly lots of points to consider with this mode of transport. I can see why you prefer to drive whenever you can but as you say your Harps really are perfect passengers! Without them though you could never in a million years be described as useless! Besides, you could always sing! ;) Incredibly sweetly too! ♥♥ :)

Thanks for showing us how your precious harps travel on a plane,i wasn't sure whether you had to buy separate seats for them so this explained a lot and i can understand why you never let them out of your sight just in case anything was to happen,nice to see Camille using her immense strength,lol!,glad you had a great time in Colombia and a safe trip back,one day i'll send you some English chocolate to put in the pouch!

What a great look at how you prepare for your adventures spreading harp magic overseas! Taking care of the harps is absolutely a priority, but it's neat to see your customized equipment with your own logo (and "chocolate pouches"). Now, if only you could find a place to sleep at the airports :) Glad you and the harps had a great time in Colombia.

That was really great, seeing how you & your "babies" travel on planes. I never knew instruments had to get window seats. I guess they don't want to contribute to the harps' air sickness, lol.. It was very interesting to watch and I thank you so much for another glimpse into Harptopia and plane travel. Many big hugs & much love dear friends!!😙💕😙💕 x2!!

What can't you two do? 🤔 Loved it all, but a few fav moments were K at 1:00, the "pouch" 😉, 💪💪, and C's wry commentary at the end especially 4:11 😂 (voice of experience? 🤔😜) Seriously, thanks for creating and sharing another fun and enlightening vid! 😊

If you get to traveling more by air, Chicago is a great place to start from. When Rod Stewart tours North America, he comes to Chicago and stays there as a headquarters -- air-hopping to each concert and back again, rather than jetting from city to city constantly.

You can also sign up for our monthly e-newsletter for performance updates: camilleandkennerly.fanbridge.com/ As fully independent musicians, many of our performances are as a direct result of a fan contacting an event, festival, artist's series, or venue and suggesting us... so *If something comes to mind please tell them about us and ask them to bring us in!* This channel (Harp Twins Happenings) is our new, smaller real-life channel. I would say probably just one of your harp's is maybe a good 20 grand or more I'd be pissed if I had a harp and it got damaged, maybe you two should just buy your own U-Haul pad it up on the inside and just haul them around like that. You two are great
@HarpTwinsHappenings
@HarpTwinsHappenings Год назад
Hi Kelly. Thanks for your kind interest!! These small electric harps are a fraction of the cost of your guesstimate, however, electric harps are not available to just pick-up with out a looooong waiting period of months. So, not practical for us to lose or damage them. That said, this is how we travel to performances *overseas.* We would not make it very far or efficiently with a U-Haul on our trip to perform in Columbia, South America (when we filmed this video)... or Paraguay, or Argentina, or the UK... all places where we've had to fly with our harps. In the continental USA we prefer to drive whenever possible because that is the safest and easiest for our instruments and equipment. We travel coast to coast full time - every year - with everything in a van or sometimes even a minivan: We can fit ourselves, our harps, merchandise, sound equipment, costumes, even our mom who films us and runs our merchandise table... and now the Volfgang Twins who perform and tour with us. However, we occasionally still have to fly. We filmed this video on our trip to perform in Colombia, South America. 💙💜

Wow! You have to be extraordinarily organised. Never gave it a thought before as to how you would travel with harps. But I’m seeing you later on today, so I’m glad you do :) and I used to complain have cookery, games and orchestra on the same day in high school and extra bags to carry. I played clarinet in those days but learned flute as an adult. Both a lot easier to transport :)

I just found your site a week ago . And love the dedication you have and your vision. I am driven also I have had laser shows as a hobby for about 20 years now . I have spent the last 3 years building my show up .I just retired from the night job last to devote all my time to my dream . It's not at all about money I just want to create something moving out of my spirit to share . And getting the images out of my head and on a screen gets it for me . I love the moss covered runes you do some of your videos against and sends my mind back in time as I watch . Those place's are filled with energy most people don't feel .Keep up the good work and if you would ever like to incorporate some lasers in one of your videos I'm Bruce and live over here in Ohio .And know that less is always more .

It's funny, I never EVER heard a harp being played before that actually moved me or made me think much of the player's creativity, but you girls ROCK [creatively speaking] me. I'm an artist and designer and I completely understand the connection to your instruments. Double bass players often have.a wheel for the bottom corner, so you could adapt or create a wheel unit to avoid dragging down th aisle and to make transit easier. I'm watching this while at the airport about to board so it looks familiar.
@HarpTwinsHappenings
@HarpTwinsHappenings 4 года назад
cathoderaytube2 ~ Thank you for visiting ! We are not sure if you watched the entire video. It's hard to explain...but, unfortunately, for our current purposes and this current double outer case, wheels or a "skateboard" would not work. We only use the big double case when flying - and only drag it when moving down the center aisle of the airplane - if needed. The double case and the 2 individual cases were ALREADY custom made exactly for our airline needs. Having wheels would require a different (stiffer and harder) outer double case - which would not fit on the airline seats and be too heavy and not flexible enough for us to then use with our individual harp cases. When our harps are not actually being loaded on or off the plane, or sitting in their airplane seats, we each need to be able to carry our own harp with a shoulder strap. We fold up the big outer case and put it in a pocket of one of the smaller cases so we can carry our harps individually and more easily everywhere else. :) :) This is our behind-the-scenes real life channel. If you are interested, we have a main music video channel where we post a new video every month across styles, genres, and decades. :) :) ru-vid.comvideos Please listen with headphones. @@HarpTwinsHappenings Thanks for the full story, C & K! The wheeled cradle unit I was having in mind would be like a stiff curved shape (same shape as the soft case bottom) with a wheel (or roller ball) or two under it; imagine a bent "skateboard" (as you say) with just 1-2 wheels. But maybe you've already thought of that, and it won't work well.
