It's essential that pastors have some background in philosophy. Philosophical study provides categories by which we can properly understand the Scriptures, and the culture into which we proclaim the Gospel. Think of philosophy as a gift of God's general revelation.

Dr. Sproul is a great thinker and proficient in sharing his thought... I admire him for that.... However he mixed his study of the words of God with his study of such things as he is teaching us now which lead him to believe a lie of John Calvin.... The study of epistemology will only hinder you with the study of the words of God which a million times higher than epistemology... For example he, like all other Calvinist believe that God is glorified by sending a person for eternal torture in hell... and also they believe that humanity after the Fall of Adam and Eve are totally depraved that a person could not even will to answer the call of God nor can believe and love Jesus unless he is first Regenerated by God.... These are some of the errors of Calvinism that contradicts the bible... But yet Calvinists love this doctrine because of false epistemology....
