Thank you for telling the truth. This is not South African problem but African problem. Africans love to respect and celebrate rich people. They don't care how they get that money. Once a person wear GUCCI, LV,etc,with fancy cars and houses etc. Africans go crazy loving them. In all African countries.Just that everybody jump to critisize everything if it's in SA,but they never say a word abt other African countries. Maybe they are afraid that they will be arrested cos in other African countries they are not free to express themselves. They can be sued and arrested. Can someone tell us about corruption in other African countries,tired abt SA.

I just want to caution here, because this is part of the thinking that reduces our perception of ourselves as Africans. That even though what we see and get exposed to most of what happens in our countries and the people we engage with, what is happening and what we are seeing is not uniquely an African problem. The behaviour is very typical of any nations and group of people where there are people who are able to work people's minds, needs and emotions to leverage and exploit their resources. It is not an African problem, and other countries may be doing a great job in profiling themselves well and I think even in South Africa we have good examples of how that profiling works. E.g. when terms such as corruption vs financial irregularities apply, or when it's xenophobic and when it's patriotic. Same goes with celebrities, I think especially since Covid, a lot of things has been coming to light relating to celebrities and how people worship some of them in spite of what they stand for or have done or even have been found guilty of crimes of immorality. It's good that we speak up and especially call out the real problems and problematic behaviours as done in this channel. I hope you get my perspective of "it's not an African problem" and to caution how we present and think of ourselves as a group of people in relation to what we see and experience and conclude. Anyone, thanks for your comment, got me to process my thoughsts.

The rich seem to be gravitating towards other countries for permanent residency instead of developing their own. Colonization and apartheid did the African countries real bad however, we need a new caliber of leadership.
