*Drones under 250g is excluded (thank you @Henning Kristensen)* www.easa.europa.eu/en/document-library/general-publications/drone-open-category-applicable-requirements-fly-1st-january
Hi Henrik, Happy New Year to you, many thanks for all the informative and enthusiastic content. If a Plus battery is used in the Mini 4 Pro is the Remote Identification section & Operator ID entry field then displayed? The last firmware updates did at least seem to add a differentiation for the Plus battery and broadcast of Remote ID.
Been an RC flyer for decades (California) Jumped through all the hoops Registration ect. but i will not turn on the remote ID on my Mavic 2. Registration numbers on the aircraft should be sufficient. The governments need to think up better things to do. They can already track the vehicle you are driving. If the wanted to track my firearms that would be more worthwhile than infringing on recreational flyers.
I’m moving to Portugal from the US. I have a Mavic 2 Pro from 2019 that I left there. Because of the new rules, I will either sell it or take it back to the States. Next week, when I return to Portugal, I’ll order the DJi Air 3. I already have my EUSA regristration but I don’t remember getting a 3-digit security code so that I can register my Air 3 when I get it. Where do I find my 3-digit security code? Is there a chance it was mailed to me in Portugal and perhaps arrived in my mailbox after I left Portugal to spend Christmas in the US? Great videos Henrick!
Very helpful video - thanks very much Henrik. I particularly enjoy your enthusiastic approach to everything - you bring a smile to my face every time I watch your videos!
While i do agree there needs to be rules and laws to minimise the idiots from doing stupid things with their drones, i fly safe and sensibly while always doing risk assessments, i will continue to fly the way i have always done in the UK and will NOT COMPLY to any new rules/laws/restrictions!
Remote ID does not come into affecting the UK yet as we are not in EASA. But it will be coming on the CAA are saying that all drones, including sub 250 will require it.
Governments doing what governments do. Adding pointless complexity and costs and privacy intrusions on responsible law abiding and rule following people. All in order to somehow stop people who don't follow safety rules, who don't care, who wont register themselves and their drones, from doing something bad. It's pretty clear that this is either due to complete incompetence in the rule makers or the rules being for another means entirely. I suspect it's a combination of both.
Happy New Year Henrik! Quick question, is there any advantage if you have a sub-250g drone to install RID hardware? Does it make us more honest or less subject to investigation?
Greetings Henrik, is this still the case for legacy drones purchased before 2024, or for the mini 4 Pro that was declassified before the end of 2023, or does it just apply to drones with official "classifications", Thanks.
I wonder what would happen, if I buy - lets say - a C1 drone and I don't enter my remote ID: Would it still fly, would it be limited or even not able to fly?
Happy New Year ! I would like to know if you activate the Mini 4 Pro purchased in 2023 (gift) after January 1, 2024, in the EU, what maximum height appears in the application - 120 or 500 m? Thank you !
Hey Henrik! HNY! Can you show exactly where on that link in the pinned comment that sub 250gm drones are excluded? I have checked the EASA site and cannot see any Remote ID exemption for sub 250 gm drones anywhere (which admittedly seems wrong, but it would be good to see it in writing.....) Cheers, Ian
Take a look here, it does not say they are excluded but C0 does not include the requirement 📸 www.easa.europa.eu/en/document-library/easy-access-rules/online-publications/easy-access-rules-unmanned-aircraft-systems?page=19&fbclid=IwAR0_L5eAECtryp_nR-edMdXqvC42ZfrwpbMFzOh4V6H5cSC4XVjRHaZZl2Q_aem_AZcGE5imFkEc7-sApqjVNRKORnWR_NLUNjBRiuoeHf2IHyZ7vt8yUeJmFFXORFFBz8s#_Toc256000299
Unfortunately in Mini 4 pro this is NOT available. Which is not good, because for e.g. Japan, all drone more than 100g MUST have Remote ID. And how to enable this in a mini 4?
Thank you so much for the information, very helpful. I also own the Mini 4 Pro and I'm just making a series of videos using my Goggle Integra with no problems at the moment - big like from me ( I live in Spain).
I legally declassified my C0 drone (DJI Mini pro 4) before the 1st Jan 2024, using DJI's official unlock. I will reclassify it as a C1 and technically that's what it will be when the DJI Cellular Dongle 2 and its attachment kit is attached to the aircraft, as that surpasses the 249g. However although the RC2 sees that the Cellular dongle is attached, it does not switch-on the UAS identification in the controller. It's missing. I guess I'm going to have to contact DJI to enable it.
Hi I wanted to ask you a question, I can't find UAS Remote Identification on my drone, why? I've done all the updates. I bought two DJI air 3 drones a week ago. Thank you Mauro
Hey Henrik, hope you holidays were nice. Here in US it's a little different thank you. As for the MP4 automatically only broadcast RID when using plus batteries and doesn't broadcast using M4P standard ultra light battery.. Mini 3 Pro broadcast all the time though regardless of which battery you use.
Since they just changed that behavior for the mini 4 last month, hopefully, and I would expect, that the mini 3 would get an update to behave like the mini4 in this regard soon.
Thanks for making this video. As per the material provided by authority, one must not disclose the 3 digit security code to the device or anyone. Can you please let me know if this is the case ?
Hej Henrik. I have the mini 3 pro but there is no classification on my drone and there is no hight limit on my kontroler ether. But I bought it in december 2023. I also found out that I'm not sending any remote id but that's because I can't aktivate it on my drone or remote, but at the same time I'm asking about what to do if I mount that light on top of the drone so I can fly at night, because it makes my drone weigh 257 gr. and that's a C1, and that normally means that I need some special test here in DKto be able to fly it, doesn't it?
There are more drones that do not need to have a remote ID: - C0 (under 250g), C4 (de facto RC models) - drones put on the market before 1/1/2024 (Article 20 from EU 947/2019, they can operate in A1/A3) - privately built UAS operated under A1/A3
So drones like the Mavic Mini and Mini2 (as well as dozens of other drones) are effectively non-compliant as of yesterday in the EU? You would need some third party device to broadcast the remote ID which is really vague, which will take them over the 249g weight limit. Is that device even going to be compatible with the DJI Fly App? Good for the drone manufacturers as people may just upgrade their drone. Bad for the hobby as either people will just fly without remote ID or just give up on the hobby...
I’m trying to find out how far the compatibility goes back in the DJI drone lineup but as long as your drone is below 250 g no external device is needed
Any idea why I have done all updates on my DJI Air2s, I have a remote ID s/n listed. After rebooting I have a "Broadcast ID Error". Using an app to scan for drones, it doesnt detect my drone. Ive searched for hours, posted on the DJI forums and Ive had no success.
As per the latest firmware update the mini 4 pro will not broadcast Remote ID when using the original battery that keeps the drone under the 250 gram limit. But will broadcast Remote ID only when using the heavier batteries (the intelligent flight battery plus.
Happy New Year and congratulations for your Chanel and videos. I did all steps with the support of the Spanish AESA web site. Everything is Ok but, when I check two of the apps that are on the market, surprisingly my dron ID doe not appears. Why? I hope some one can reply this question. Again, thank you for your channel and videos. Regards from Spain. Forgot to mention, my drone is DJI AIR 3
I have mavic Air 2 and try to do This. But it does not show This option. Is my drone too Old to have This feature? I tried to cpntact DJI they say to Update or talk to trafik. But it does not WORK.
Yes IT does. Unfortunately yes, if you are in Europe you must comply with the regulations established by EASA. And if you're in the U.S., the FAA is valid. I hope that a global regulation will be established in future.
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA and my question, the reverse with my C0 mini 2 registered in an EU country and then taking the drone to the US this means I need to register with the FAA?
Not a fan of remote id, but great video anyway. BTW, the option for entering the UAS Remote identification isn't there on thr latest firmware for the Mini 3 Pro. I don't know what to do as I'm supposed to fly in the morning. We unfortunately have to live with the regulations.
Has anyone figured out how to enable Remote ID identification in Europe for a drone that was sold in Usa, Canada? I cant find this menu on remote. Mavic 3 classic
It seems, that all M4P drones, that have not been declasified in 2023, can switch to C1 and after they are approved by DJI, the line to enter the remote ID apears on the RC2, after you request the remove of the 120m limit. If the drone has been declasified from C0 to legacy drone and already has removed the 120m limit, this doesn't happen. DJI will send you the stickers, they will approve the change to C1 certification, even provide a PDF document with the serial number of your drone, but no matter what you do, the line to enter the remote ID will not show up. Using a Plus battery or M3P battery doesn't help. It just shows a pop up warning, that the weight is not C0 compliant any more, but that's it. Problem is discussed in the DJI Forum. Lot's of drone owners from all over Europe have the same problem, that they now have a C1 labled drone, that doesn't comply with C1 requirements, because it doesn't use remote ID. DJI is informed of the problem, but has no solution until now. DJI support in chat and on phone is helpless and has no clue at all. It's just a big mess. 😭
"what if I have a C1 M4P" = do you have a Mini 4 Pro and followed the C0 -> C1 procedure with the sticker replacement? If yes, you will receive a firmware update after you upload proof of this change. This update will unlock the 500m. Regarding the remote id, I have no idea if this is mandatory in any way.
I have no problem with laws if there is an expert and logic by whoever writes it. A plane has a landing strip but at 120 meters over MY house there are no planes.
I wish there were an idiot proof simplified way of doing this. Eg: When you start using the drone for the 1st time, you should be prompted to enter your National ID/Name/Handphone number, email etc then have a verification code sent to enter.. Then if you sell the drone, you just have another option below "CHANGE USER ID"/"DELETE USER ID", delete your details/ID and the new user has to start the process all over again.. THANKS for your vids
I just tried to set it up on my Mavic 3 here in the UK but the RID option does not appear in the Fly app. I was hoping to get it set prior to visiting the EU but it look like it will have to wait until I get there.

I can no longer see on my RC where to enter my Operator ID. Can anyone help? (DJI - Mini 4 Pro. I did go to Settings > Safety > Scroll down but the field is no longer there. TIA
your the man. Send me (your biggest fan) one of those mini4pros. I'll send you my mini3 pro. come on bud. you don't need all those drones. help a guy out with dreams. lol. thanks for sharing as always..
I don't have the UAS Remote ID option , how come? I have the DJI MAvic 3 classic with the latest firmware installed, I'm here in the USA, can someone help me out with this? thanks
@@MrRaymond1021 they dont need remote id but at least here in czech republic they must have your operator code clearly written on them (excluding the 3 security letters)
@@tadasgame for a sub 250 G drone? I honestly thought a sub 250 drone didn't need anything to use anywhere in the world. I guess I was wrong. I know in the USA a sub 250 drone doesn't need anything.
We in the US are a rebellious group. Stupid laws end up with mass non compliance. Sometimes we even celebrate this as in the yearly tossing of tea into Boston harbor. That is what I would expect in the US, not the hobby dying.
@@Neil-W-k2p i think he is exited because he has a vet happy personality, that just shows he makes yt videos because he loves doing it, I don’t think he’s actually exited about the hobby getting more and more regulated
...And the rules will have no effect at all on anyone who wants to use drones in a dangerous or law breaking way. The only people these laws will effect are the ones who aren't the problem.
I might like to add, ur headline is unfortunately a little bit misleading. It's NOT by "law" as u claims. It's by "rules". Laws and legislation on country level is clearly separated from federal EU EASA rules. It's important to point out this since no law enforcement agents will approach you with fine graded scales asking for proof of registration and paperwork including flight logs. It's simply not within their jurisdiction nor line of duty. Period 😂
The real question should be. How do we disable remote id so fvcking ffa and karens cant use free apps to track down our drone and pilot location. Fvck the ffa. I just wanna go out and fly.
Hey Men just know this sound crazy but can I have 1 drone please Dji please im from Philippines and im just poor this is my dream drone I ask 18 drone vloger they ignore me please 😢 just one ill give you my email
