@Ezekio3160 AMEN. Simple reading comprehension and basic knowledge of grammar led me to understand that it is a one-time action with ongoing results. So I understand it as justification as a one-time action, followed if I choose to cooperate with the Holy Spirit in my sanctification process (highly recommended), which is the ongoing results. If you can't see that basic truth in your thinking, then you better learn what it means to examine yourself through the lens of scripture to see if you are truly in the faith. One repents because of their sin. Christians are continuing to repent because they continue to sin and do so to continually recognize the grace, mercy and forgiveness of our God.

@@M.Tanner Dear M.Tanner. I concur. We continue being in a sinful body, therefore keep on sinning and need to get back into right standing with God, to restore fellowship, i.e. 1 John 1:9. As far as I understand Scripture, one can only get saved once, immediately receive God's grace, a one time deal and filled with the Holy Spirit. That is justification. I am wary to conflate to repent / believe / have faith in / to put your trust in / have confidence in the Person and work of Christ (all used interchangeably in the Word) to one time receive the sacrificial (a sacrifice, which was accepted, because it was a perfect sacrifice, that of the God man Jesus), substitutionary (in my place), penal (there is a penalty for sin death, I was suppose to receive it, but Jesus took it) and propitiating (enough to satisfy God's wrath on sin) work of Christ as a one time action of justification on the Cross with.......sanctification. The latter is the ongoing walk of the Christian as we fall and confess before the Lord our sins, and He being faithful forgives us and restores our fellowship when we confess our sins, 1 John 1:9. We do not stop being His children, when in error, not even if we do not confess our sin. I am not saved all over again, or justified all over again, that was a one time deal, the new birth. See David. He was in depression, until he came clean before the Lord, a man after Gods heart. justification (to be saved) is not sanctification (to grow in holiness). As part of my sanctification walk, I regularly confess my sins before the Lord to reestablish where I have fallen out of fellowship, but I do not repent, I am not rebirthed, or come newly into the faith. It is good talking with you dear M.Tanner. You may want to reconsider language i.e. " If you can't see that..." and "then you better...". to speak truth in love, it would make it more palatable to continue the discourse with you. I value Ps Washers' commitment and faithfulness. I just do not subscribe to his theology. I value your fervor for the faith.

Thanks for sharing brother in Christ. Im experiencing a similar situation. Sexual immorality and a few other sins have brought me back to the lord. Im currently fighting against it with the lords help and it gets better day by day. Reading that you’re spiritual walk with the lord has grown and it has lead to you getting married gives me encouragement to keep going.

Just like the story of the sower of the seed in good soil and being connected to the vine; We must pick up our cross daily & do the necessary spiritual gardening work to keep our heart posture focused on JC. Would a loving parent want their kid to go through tons of pain & heartbreak to learn this lesson? Probably not, will some have to go through this to learn they must abide? Maybe! When you receive a gift it comes with responsibility to take care of it, or in another way, count the cost! If we truly are born again and repent daily, new wine skins, Prune the branches, Crucifier our desires to the cross... Then this leads us to righteous living and being a bond servant to the Will of the Father like Christ Jesus did. By Faith(action) in JC we are set free of our chains, so cheap grace leads to no transformation bc its grace from man, but true Godly Grace or ears to hear & eyes to see understanding of Gods grace with the help of the Holy Spirit will lead to new skins & transformation that we must steward. Covenant means relationship so there's responsibility and accountability on both sides. Thats why continual repentance is so good because it continually humbles and brings our heart in the right posture to come under the authority of the Alpha & the Omega, fearing the Lord your God! Amen! You would have still kept your salvation because you were born again by believing when you were young. It’s the discipleship that went astray and now you have come back to the straight and narrow, the best you can. Elohim Allah is the Muslim god, and the word is thought to be derived by contraction from al - ilāh, which means "the god"12. In Hebrew, the word “elohim” is understood as a generic noun for “god/gods” and is used almost identically to the way ‘allah’ is used in Arabic3. The normal generic word for God in Hebrew is "alaha"/"aloho"4. The Hebrew word El (Elohim) also stands for the same name - god5

The word means change you mind.

This is wrong, and so is Paul Washer. If you believe you need to repent of sin for salvation, then you are taking the trust off of the savior and onto your works, and you will find yourself in hell

i fight against the thought that God cares for me, only because He is obligated to, due to His word. The past 3 yrs I got lyme disease, lost some hearing, have some damage to my heart, half my face is paralyzed permanently. My Mom died,. During that time I was without power (pole broke in the middle of winter), lost my clients (graphic designer), and was wiped out at every level, my car was stolen and a neighbors dog killed my cat I had for over 9yrs. In that time He showed me he cares for me daily. The stroy is long an detailed, but I want to let you know, that like in the song by Lauren Daigle..He sends out an army to find us, and He will nevre, ever stop. His love and care is unbreakable. He doesn't just tolerate me because He has to, but be cause He loves me. I still strggle with , but He always brings me back in line. He loves His children, despite what do or have done or even will do, He will provide what we need, when we need it. Look for the little things, every day that have happened or not happened and think of why. I bet you see God in it.

A transformed life is not guaranteed. But eternal life is guaranteed simply by faith. Works have nothing to do with salvation before conversion or after. It is by faith apart from works. The moment someone believes, they have eternal life, whether they do good works or not. Adding works as an evidence of “true saving faith” is not the gospel of grace but is a different gospel, in-fact, it is no gospel at all.

Christ said to repent and believe. Repentance is apart of the gospel message. It’s not saying that a perfect repentance is required for justification. But repentant heart that grows in repentance is the sign of the true believer. If there is no growth in repentance over time and a growing of love for Christ, then there was never belief in that persons heart. Not a genuine faith or love for Christ. You might want to read the book of Acts where the Apostles all preached repentance. Don’t let someone’s false teaching using prerogatives such as “lordship salvation” lead you astray. Right belief leads to an action that follows. I would amend that to say that repentance does mean to turn away from sin, but not in the sense that my repentance or any righteous works of my own will merit a right standing relationship with God. Rather, because I am in a right standing relationship with God by grace through Jesus Christ, I therefore humbly repent of my sins as I put my faith in Christ alone. Salvation is indeed Christ's work alone, but that gracious gift when received will produce along with turning away from sin unto faith and obedience

The Hebrew word emunah (אמונה, pronounced “eh-moo-nah”) is understood in English to mean “faith” or “belief”. Luke 17 :5 "And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith." Why would "faith" need to be increased? Once one understands the complete meaning of "emunah" then it shall be increased.

Lots of people have changed lives, but that doesn’t mean they have believed the gospel. I have zero works, yet I’m saved simply because I have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. If simple faith isn’t good enough for you, then I don’t know what is.
