You can buy the stuff to digitize it yourself, then you always have a master copy which you can use to then re-record the audio when the tape itself starts to fall apart.
@@AK8901 I mean you can't preserve the tape forever The plastic's going to eventually degrade the tape is going to like wear down and the ferric oxide will rub off You eventually need to transfer it to another tape
It's super unfortunate I know. We are on the front lines of this in our studio. We receive tapes from across North America. Amazingly, most of the tapes we receive are still in pretty good shape. But having operated this business for twenty years now, we see the damage and deterioration increasing.
