How do you race when your body is shutting down... This is killing me

The penultimate day sees my body shutting down. The pain in my arms, pure exhaustion but set with deep determination not to quit. With 837km left to Dakar the end feels so close but every km takes a toll on my body. I really hope this Dakar series racing the original Dakar route in the Africa Eco Race gives you some behind the scenes understanding of what it takes to compete in such a gruelling infamous race!

The back story of this race makes that rally twice as much of a stonker, really! 🤗 I mean: How do you stay upright after days like these on a bike? Keeling over and passing outr for eight hours straight looks like the sane thing to do on entering the bivouac!😳 You lot rock big time! 🤗

Well done Vanessa, another top job completing another day when you were clearly worn out at the start. It's not only the physical effort needed but combined with the mental effort is what breaks endurance racers. You have done a wonderful job in pushing forward at times when you are running on empty. Was it worth it? Definitely, you set a goal and I'm sure that if at any point it reached a point of not being safe you would have done the right thing to make a decision. I salute you you! I couldn't have done half of what you have achieved in my younger years but you are an inspiration to so many old and young to set goals and try to achieve the. Many thanks for sharing.

When you were lost I thought follow that truck way in the distance. Off you went and there is was a little black spot way in the distance, brilliant I thought. You didn’t catch up or it get away.
